Gordons, "tight lines" fishing news from Loch Ness, Scotland. February 04 |
Well its very nearly time. Time to get out those perished waders, will they last another season? or will a wee bitty patching suffice. The excitement mounts, yes even after 50 years of fishing. The lower altitude lochs will be the first to produce into April, fish will be fully recovered and fighting fit. They are now looking to put on weight as an abundance of aquatic life starts to appear. Spring once again restores tranquil beauty to our landscape. I just can't wait to wet my first line. Last year was extremely difficult for the fly fisher, too much of everything but fish. Extremely bright sun and high temperatures that went on and on (nay fit for man, fish nor beast) high water temperatures and low levels. Rivers reduced to a trickle, not good for salmon or trout fisher alike. But my wife along with most holidaymakers strongly approved, while I suffered constant depression. Never mind, new season and I have high hopes. Plenty of snow and water, Loch and river levels are all back to normal. My water bailiff friend tells me spring fish are now in the Ness system and everything is looking very promising. A wee bit early for any salmon catch reports, but if you watch these pages I will keep you updated as to places, methods and catches. So please if you want a fishing update, email or phone and I will do my best, without a crystal ball mind. Like me have a magical season. Keep our rivers and Lochs clean and litter free.
