You searched for properties Northern Highlands, Wester Ross & Easter Ross.

Wester Ross, Easter Ross, and the Far North of Scotland

The Northern Highlands offers the visitor a wealth of things to see and do in an area of outstanding natural beauty and rich in wildlife. Wild mountains and lochs, rivers, rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, isolated crofts, small fishing villages and bustling towns create great variety in the region.

Applecross

The Applecross peninsula has a captivating landscape. The Gaelic name for the area of Applecross is ‘a Chomraich’ which means ‘The Sanctuary’. The peace and tranquillity the area offers makes many want to return time and time again. You really can ‘listen to the silence’.

Torridon

Torridon offers spectacular mountain scenery. The Torridon Countryside Centre and Beinn Eighe Nature reserve offers an ideal starting point for walks and climbs.

The picturesque fishing village of Shieldaig is hard to beat with fantastic sunsets, high mountains, beautiful coastline and beaches, and abundant wildlife. Loch Shieldaig and Shieldaig Island which is a National Trust site of special scientific interest has a thriving bird population and ideal for a spot of wildlife watching.

Sutherland and Assynt

Sutherland and the Assynt Peninsula offers plenty of wilderness for those looking to get away from it all. With Cape Wrath in the far North to the beautiful Sandwood Bay, with its crystal clear water and white sandy beach.

The RSPB reserve at Handa Island offers puffins galore and is a wonderful day out. Wildlife cruises are also available from Kylesku and Loch Laxford.

The area offers plenty of scope for hillwalking no matter what your ability. A particularly popular route being the walk to the Old Man of Stoer, a spectacular sea-stack. There are also many more demanding routes on the mountains of Quinaig, Ben More and Suilven.

Easter Ross

The seaboard villages of Easter Ross, are a complete contrast to the mountainous areas of this region. The farmland rolls down to the coastline which is dotted with pretty little fishing villages.

The villages have their own character, with lovely sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and plenty of walks along the shoreline.  The area is rich in history and wildlife so any visitor will find plenty to keep them occupied.

Wilderness Cottages have a number of properties in this region, so sample for yourself the peace and tranquillity with all the comforts of home.
