Burnside Cottage of Geddes Sleeps 6, Log Fire, Pets welcome.

Burnside Cottage of Geddes Number 5, is a lovely comfortable holiday home for up to 6 people together with either one large or two small well behaved dogs. It has a large private garden with a sunny patio, backing onto a hilly field with a burn. The front of the property looks onto a mixed woodland. The cottage has been renovated with new furniture and furnishings, double glazing, creative lighting and a multi-fuel stove in the living room. Low coombed ceilings upstairs adds true character to the cottage whisking you back to yesteryear.

This semi-detached traditional cottage, dating back to 1800, is situated in a rural woodland location at Cawdor, only 4 miles from the seaside town of Nairn and 16 miles from the Highland capital, Inverness. There is so much to do here with Cawdor Castle linked with Shakespeare's Macbeth, nearby. Two National Trust for Scotland properties, Brodie Castle and Culloden battlefield, will stimulate your interest, as will Clava Cairns, a well preserved Bronze Age cairn and standing stones. Fort George, Europe's best preserved 18th century military fortification, has plenty to occupy all the family. Other points of interest include the picturesque Dulsie Bridge and the Ardclach Bell Tower, built in 1655.

The natural features of the area offer many activities for your holiday, birdwatching at the RSPB reserve at Culbin Sands, golf on two championship courses at Nairn, walking in the woodlands of Culbin forest and moorlands nearby and along the white sandy beaches of Nairn – a favourite for wearing out the dogs, who just love the water edges and soft sand underfoot - and last but not least, cycling the many quiet back roads and a local cycle route. There is a trout fishery nearby and salmon fishing is available in the River Nairn.  During your stay at the cottage, you may see roe deer, red squirrels, buzzards, and pheasants plus badgers if you are fortunate.

Further afield, for a day out, drive to Urquhart Castle, significantly sited on a promontory on the banks of Loch Ness. Here an exhibition and the inevitable scanning of the loch for that elusive Nessie, will absorb you for hours. Alternatively, take the high road over the hills to Ullapool on the west coast (90 minutes) or the Cairngorms National Park (45 minutes) and savour the surrounding landscape from on high.

We all loved this cottage. It was perfectly clean and beautifully decorated, with a lovely homely feel. The garden was perfect for our dog, who loved going out and running around. We appreciated the welcome pack which included some treats for our dog as well as a bottle of wine, sweets and biscuits for us. The situation of the cottage was lovely and would be perfect in the summer although a car was definitely necessary, as the nearest shops were in Nairn about 3-4 miles away. We will return!

I have recently spent a week at this lovely cottage, comfortable and cosy and equipped to a good standard. However dog owners should take note that although the garden is fully fenced and dog proof, the fences are quite low. Lovely area and situated within easy reach of the lovely beach at Nairn.

A really lovely cottage. Well deserving it's STB 4* rating. We visit pet friendly cottages several times a year and this is the best we've been to. Although its decor and furniture are to a very high standard, it still manages to be a relaxed, cosy place with a superbly equipped kitchen and great fenced in garden which Mac our springer loved. Cawdor Tavern very good indeed. We will return and recommend to others.

Had a fabulous week at this gorgeous cute cottage. A very warm welcome with lemon cupcakes, fresh flowers and a chilled bottle of white wine awaiting us. Made use of the gorgeous woodburner and had cosy evenings in, as well as a couple of trips to the Inn at Cawdor for some great food. The two dogs loved the big safe garden, and it was so peaceful and relaxing.

We found the above cottage was exactly what we were looking for and expected. Everything about the cottage was just right. There were 6 adults in our party and no one had any complaints at all. The location was great as were all the facilities, we will definately recommend this cottage and Wilderness Cottages to anyone who we know is going to Scotland for a holiday.

We couldn't recommend this cottage more highly having just spent a week there. The location is perfect for accessing Nairn and Inverness and the tranquillity is wonderful. We were greeted with a beautiful home baked cake and bottle of wine in a most pleasant and spacious cottage setting. A fantastic holiday.

What can we say? Just read the reviews.... fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. It was truly home from home, warm and cosy, delightfully secluded but close by to great places to visit - not least the beaches, which our Pointer loved! The welcome was great and everything we could hope for was supplied. Very important too for us - and unusual in our experience - the kitchen is properly equipped to self-cater, for people who like to cook!. Hope to return.

Just returned from our 3rd visit to this lovely cottage. We were blessed with good weather the whole week. We visited the Highland Wildlife Park at Kingcaig which is a really good day out. We were lucky to see a baby seal come out of the water and onto the beach at Roseisle. A woodpecker visited the bird feeder in the garden every morning which was a delight. A lovely cottage, very well equipped with all the mod cons. There was plenty to do both in and around the local area. Despite sub-zero temperature and 15 inches of snow the cottage was lovely and warm, and the log burning fire particularly welcome! We are making plans to make a return visit later this year. We really enjoyed our week at Burnside Cottage. The cottage was lovely, very clean, comfortable & well equiped. The wine and homemade (with duck eggs) cake were very much appreciated and enjoyed! Katie (4) & Calum (2) just loved the big garden and being able to pet the cows in the field. It was a perfect get-away, in the middle of nowhere, yet close to so much! We’re already planning next year, with Grandparents tagging along too! Thanks so much.
