At the end of 2015 Station Cottage was refurbished and extended, from January 2016 the property will be able to sleep six with the addition of a new bedroom with an en-suite shower room. After the extension the accommodation will include a more spacious lounge, and the bedroom layout will be a king with en-suite, a double and a twin. During 2016 the prices at Station Cottage will remain at the equivalent 2015 prices.
Station Cottage is located in the small Highland village of Nethy Bridge, which is located in the heart of beautiful Strathspey part of the Cairngorms National Park. As its name suggests Station Cottages was once the station masters cottage, but sadly, the railway line is now no longer in use. The cottage was build in circa 1850 and its recent renovation has ensured that much of its original character has been retained - the original timber lined walls and granite fireplace have all convincingly stood the test of time.
Station cottage has open plan living with a modern kitchen and cosy lounge and has been tastefully decorated. The focal point in the cottage is the feature stone wall which divides the living areas and houses the wood burning stove, wonderful in the evenings. The cottage is set in a large garden (both the kitchen and lounge over look the garden) on the edge of the village, beside the banks of the River Nethy, it is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Cairngorms National Park. The Speyside way runs by the side of the cottage, so make sure you bring your bikes. The village has an excellent butcher and a general store within 100 metres of the cottage and nearby Boat of Garten has a couple of well respected restaurants.
Nethy Bridge often affectionately referred to simply as "Nethy" is a peaceful Highland village and has been a holiday destination since Victorian times, yet it remains unspoilt with its magnificent backdrop of the Cairngorm mountains. Situated between Grantown and Aviemore in the heart of beautiful Strathspey this is the perfect location for enjoying the Scottish Highlands. Set amongst native woodland and heather clad hills, the scenery is simply magnificent and whether you are looking for an action packed holiday or just to simply unwind you will find Station Cottage to be ideal. The area caters well for water sports, cycling, horse riding, skiing, snow boarding, families will just love the variety of sports available.
If it’s a more leisurely holiday you are looking for then you can go golfing, walking, bird watching, the RSPB osprey centre is at Boat of Garten you can even watch for badger, pine marten or otters at the local wildlife hide. Aviemore is only 12 miles from the cottage and a visit to the Cairngorms, whether its summer or winter is a must. The new funicular railway to the summit give the most amazing views and you can dine in the Ptarmigan restaurant before returning to Station Cottage. Closer to the cottage Abernethy forest has an abundance of wildlife, here you may see Crested Tits, Red Squirrels, Pine Martens or Capercaillie.
The surrounding area is also home to many of Scotland’s best known distilleries, Glen Grant, Glenfiddich, Glenfarclas and Cardhu, to name a few. A great day out would be to complete the Whisky Trail, from Grantown to Elgin, a distance of some 40 miles, and all have visitor centres and conducted guided tours, where you can find out about the making and history of the “water of life”, just make sure you have a non drinking driver with you!
Two pets are welcome at the cottage, and the garden is fully enclosed.

This cottage is a lovely place to stay. Myself and my family found the location perfect to unwind and get away from the world. Within easy reach of some of the areas's great spots, including some beautiful lochs, and of course Landmark theme park just down the road. Was a shame to have to leave, but would recommend and would definitely like to return.
We loved our stay at Station Cottage, its remote enough for peace and quiet but close enough to everywhere to have days out. Very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a holiday in a beautiful part of the worls.
An excellent cottage. Very good for families with young children as on one levelo and a safe garden.
Third visit to Station Cottage. A super little cottage in an excellent location. Always clean and tidy on arrival along with everything required for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Our only criticism would be noisy ( until 2am ) guests staying in the Bunkhouse next door.
A well equipped and delightful cottage. the furnishings and decor are of a high standard and loved the log burner. The garden is great for kids and dogs as it is fully enclosed. Would definitely return to this cottage.
We have just enjoyed our 4th stay at Station Cottage. On each occasion that we have visited we have found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable, cosy and easily heated using the wood burning fire. The house is well equiped but the furnishings are starting to look a little tired.(Minor quibble)It is well situated on the edge of Nethy Bridge, there are excellent walks close by. Our dog loves the secure garden. We shall be returning next year.
We had a wonderful holiday at station cottage. It's very clean, cosy and welcoming. The cottage is very well situated and in beautiful countryside. We would defiantly recommend it.
We had wonderful time ar Station Cottage in Nethy Bridge. It was exactly as described and a lot more. It was right on the Speyside Way and so handy to walk the dogs. We were there over New Year and they had put up Christmas Decorations, which added to the cosy feel of the property. The log burning stove was WONDERFUL and we would return in a minute. The local butcher was amazing (just a few doors away.) My brother in law and family came up to do a bit of biking and have booked for Easter.
We liked the cottage and the local area, we paid a reduced rate - I dont think I would have felt the full rate was good value. The lounge is quite small but fairly portrayed in the photos and the conservatory at the front allowed plenty of space for coats and shoes. There were no wardrobes which I though was odd but not a big problem for a week. The house was very clean and the kithen was all new.Would recommend though perhaps not in the winter as some people had found it very cold.
A lovely cottage. The woodburning stove made it very cosy. Nicely renovated, clean and very homely. Our two young boys loved it. There are lots of beautiful walks from the house, and lots to keep our family occupied for a week in the area (whatever the weather).
24/12/11-28/12/11 David We had a great time. Very cosy and set in beautiful surroundings. Plenty of walks for the dog, and safe areas to run. The local butcher has fantastic veggie sausages!
Lovely, well equipped and tastefully renovated cottage. Very clean. Ideally located for exploring the Cairngorms and beyond. We would choose this cottage again.
An absolutely lovely stay at Station Cottage in Nethy Bridge. The cottage is gorgeous and just perfect for a winter weekend getaway. Beautifully decorated, well equipped, warm, cosy, with a great garden. Sadly, we didn't see much of Nethy Bridge as it was covered in 12 inches of snow, but we managed to go for a lovely walk along the river (which felt like we were in a winter wonderland) and a few cosy pints beside the log fire in The Nethy Bridge Hotel. Will def be going back in the spring.
Lovely cottage. Great feel about it. Loved the wood burning stove. Location ideal beautiful village and easy access to all the surrounding attractions. Ideal for the children and all outdoor pursuits.Looking forward to going back next year.
We stayed at the Station Cottage, Nethybridge for the October school week. Firstly, thank you to the owner for allowing us to do so. We had a great time. The cottage is perfect, quirky, full of character and ideal if you have a dog. The garden was ideal for my labrador and it was fenced in which really helped. Comfortable beds, quality linen, towels, nice little touches. There is lots to do ie walks, picnics, Aviemore/Cairngorms nearby, good location to reach other places.
We (2 adults, 2 kids and the dog) really enjoyed our stay at Station Cottage. The Cottage is excellent and ideally placed for the village and the local wildlife is sublime. We are already planning to return next year but are also considering a winter hol here!
Station Cottage is a delight, very nicely converted and well-appointed. Thoroughly recommended. Plenty of room for four. Nethy Bridge is a convenient base for walks in Cairngorm National Park, and up on the Moray Firth. It's a great place for bird-watching and botanising, with ospreys at Loch Garten just down the road, and various species singing away right around the cottage. Local shops are friendly and full of good things, especially the wonderful butcher's shop almost next door. All good!
A lovely property, well furnished and tastefully presented. The garden is large and safe making it ideal for a young family holiday. Lots to do for kids and adults alike in one of the most beautiful settings in the UK. We will be back.
Homely, packed with character and a fabulous base from which to explore Strathspey and Speyside. This Nethybridge hideaway is surely one of the highlands self-catering gems.

Agreat homely cottage thats very quite when you want it to be but has all the surrounding amenities right on your doorstep. We had great time and the cottage we very clean and well appointed after being recently re-furbished i would guess.
