The Bell is located in a fantastic rural setting just over eight miles from the popular tourist town of Nairn on the Moray Firth coast. The property can certainly be described as a “Grand Design” with its curved roof, larch cladding, vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, and is somewhat different from the usual types of holiday properties available. Its location makes an ideal base for a relaxing family holiday with seven acres of natural woodland on your doorstep to enjoy, or for those wanting to explore the Highland Region further.
The accommodation at the property is located over two levels; the main living area is open plan with the sitting room, dining area and kitchen being one. This room has a vaulted ceiling, floor to ceiling windows, and a wood burner, and offers direct access to the patio and garden area located to the front of the property. Two bedrooms are located on this level, a double with a king size bed and a twin, along with the bathroom which has a bath and separate shower.
On the upper level a spacious sitting room can be found which enjoys views to the main living area below. Further facilities on this level include an additional bedroom with a king size bed, and a shower room. Throughout the property is spacious modern and light, and tastefully furnished and equipped to a high standard. A major feature at this property is the natural woodland which is ideal to explore, with meandering paths and features, it is ideal for all ages, and there is even a converted bus which acts as a summer house.
Nairn itself offers a good range of facilities for the visitor, including a number of cafes & restaurants, a couple of supermarkets and a Tourist Information Point. The town is also home to two championship golf courses Nairn Golf Club and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club, and a popular location for a visit must be the marvellous sandy beaches.
Further afield Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Fort George and Culloden Battlefield are all within driving distance, as is Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands which offers all the usual city attractions and will have something to keep the whole family amused. A popular choice for a day out is Culbin Forest with its forest walks and paths, which are ideal to explore on foot or by mountain bike, for the more energetic there is even a viewing tower, which from the top enjoys spectacular views of the Moray Firth and beyond.
If you like the look of The Bell but are looking for a smaller property, we have the Elephant House available at the same location, also ideal for renting alongside The Bell for additional guests.
Please note that the house sits in seven acres of natural woodland, which has an unfenced pond and a small stream, young children should therefore be supervised at all times.
A Good Housekeeping Deposit of £75.00 is required at this property.
We had a great time in the Bell - George made us quite welcome, and cake especially so after a long journey. Wet or dry, it was a good base for the highlands. House is equipped with all facilities for families on the go, though don't expect wifi or good phone signal ! Beware Daughters' will grab the upper floor with master bedroom and bathroom. Boys then shared the ground floor bedrooms. No midges when we were there - grounds delightful, including the garden bus ! Eggs from down the road tasty - note there are no 'local' pubs or restaurants - this is at least a good 10 min drive away from it all. Highly recommended
The Bell is a wonderful property that includes all the mod-cons but in an idyllic rural setting. The isolation and peacefulness of the area are supplemented by so many great places to visit within a short drive. If you want to explore the Moray Coast and the Cairngorm area then this the place to do it from. The little touches, i.e. eggs and jam supplied on arrival are just the icing on the cake in a great place to get away from it.
