Dunollie is situated on the outskirts of the popular village of Drumnadrochit. Built in 1850 this traditional property is beautifully presented and set in idyllic surroundings close to Loch Ness. Equipped and furnished to an impressive specification, this charming property retains much of its original character including exposed stonework and roof beams.  Its peaceful location would make an ideal base for touring the Highlands of Scotland and the west coast.

Entering the property takes you into a vestibule and through to the inner hall. The sitting room and kitchen are located off the hall. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV and a wood burner, a particularly striking feature being the exposed stonework. To the rear of the room is a study area with a desk. The conservatory enjoys views to the front of the property and the garden, and is accessed from the sitting room.

The dining room certainly has the wow factor with feature stonework, exposed beams and a wood burner. An ideal place for a family meal and reflect on the day’s activities after a day exploring. Leading from the dining room a few steps take you to the well equipped kitchen which offers access to the garden.  

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the master has a king size bed and the other a double and single bed. The bedrooms enjoy garden views and quality bed linen and towels are provided. The beautiful shower room with its large walk in shower completes the facilities on this level. The property is approached by a stone drive way with ample parking for three cars. The garden is spacious and offers various places to sit and relax and garden furniture is provided. Guests with children should be aware that the garden is not enclosed and has a small pond.

Adjacent to the main house The Byre offers a separate self contained suite. This property can be rented for an additional cost (see more info) and offers a luxurious retreat for additional guests or perhaps for grandparents. Accommodation in the suite includes a sitting room with a flat screen TV and wood burner, a spacious bedroom with a king size bed, and a shower room with his and hers sinks and a walk in shower. Please see below for the full list of facilities available.

The nearby village of Drumnadrochit (1 mile) has a good range of facilities including a number of pubs, restaurants and a small supermarket. The village is also home to the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition and on the outskirts Urquhart Castle can be found. Further afield the historic village of Beauly is located, home to a unique collection of shops including the Old School which sells an array of Scottish goods and the Corner on the Square, a licensed delicatessen and restaurant overlooking the square.

Dunollie offers a perfect base for exploring with the City of Inverness with all its attractions just 16 miles away, and the Isle of Skye and the west coast within a ninety minute drive. Travelling to Skye stop off and visit Eilean Donan Castle near Dornie, one of the most famous of Scotland’s Castles and certainly the most photographed. At Kyle of Lochalsh take the bridge across to Skye and visit such places as Dunvegan Castle  or Talisker Distillery, or spend your time enjoying the magnificent scenery including the Cullin mountain.

The Byre is available to rent at an additional £200.00 per week, please confirm at the time of booking if you would like this option included. Photographs of The Byre can be found in the last two rows of our photo section. The Byre is only available to guests staying in the main house and is not rented out separately.

Wonderful house, neat and clean. Suitably located. The property has everything a family needs for a week. Very thoughtful interior, stock of carefully selected groceries and daily utility items in house. Overall a pleasant experience.

Great property! We were impressed to arrive at a place that had absolutely everything. We had a feeling that owners have initially refurbished the property for themselves but started renting out due to change in their circumstances. Certainly will be back at some point. Highly recommended!
