Barlogan - Lauder, Scottish Borders - Quality self catering in the Scottish Borders - Sleeps 5/6 (4 adults + 2 children). Pets welcome

Barlogan offers high quality self catering accommodation, located in the heart of the Scottish Borders close to the market town of Lauder. Surrounded by the Lammermuir hills, Barlogan enjoys a wonderful position with splendid views from the property of the soft rolling countryside of Lauderdale. The accommodation is a self contained wing ajoining the owner's home and has been finished and furnished to a very high standard to ensure that all guests have a wonderful holiday. To further enhance your holiday, if you don't want to cook, the owner is a chef and can arrange dinner meals by prior arrangement.

The market town of Lauder and the surrounding area has plenty to see and do, for historians, Thirlstane Castle, with its historic toy collection is close by, the local golf course will keep the golfer in the family fully occupied and once this course has been mastered there are plenty more to try. For the fisherman there is excellent salmon fishing on world famous rivers or trout fishing on local lochs. Horse riding is available nearby and with cycling & walking on your doorstep you are sure to find plenty to keep you occupied.

The Southern upland way (a coast to coast walking route) passes through Lauder and across the Lammermuirs to Cockburnspath. Lauder has several restaurants, pubs and shops all a short drive from your accommodation and is ideally situated for exploring the Scottish Borders and to take advantage of the wide range of activities available. The highlight of the Lauder year is the local 'Common Riding Festival' which takes place on the first Satuarday in August when a week of festivities culminates in the riding of the marches - a cavalcade of more than 300 horses and riders.

As a base to explore Southern Scotland, Barlogan is perfect with Edinburgh - Scotland's capital city, is only 40 minutes from Barlogan so a day out in the city is a must, with perhaps a visit to Edinburgh Castle, then a walk down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace stopping on route to enjoy the local eateries or perhaps doing a spot of “retail therapy”!.

The magnificent coastline of East Lothian has some fantastic beaches, with miles of golden sands and plenty of opportunities to try some water sports. The area is rich in bird and wildlife and a visit to the Seabird Centre at North Berwick harbour makes a fascinating day out for both young and old. You can take a boat trip to Bass rock from here, famous for its gannet colony, you may even see some puffins and dolphins on the way. St Abbs Head is renowed for its seabird colonies and the John Muir Country Park at Dunbar with its spectacular coastline is a haven for wildlife and people too.
