A lovely get away from it all cottage. Nice shower and well equipped kitchen. Really cosy, peaceful and beautiful scenic views. It's away from everything so self catering is a must unless you are willing to travel. Some nice walks and not too far from the beach. We loved it. Some lovely wildlife around. Great for the dog.

We had an amazing stay at Seal Skerry Lodge in Skye. The booking process with Wilderness Cottages was easy and staff were super helpful. The accommodation and location were exactly as described on the website. We will definitely be booking again and are looking forward to next year's brochure arriving!

What can I say that hasn't already been said before. This cabin is absolutely amazing with everything you could possibly want during your stay. There were even doggy poop bags and dog bowls. Seating areas all around the cabin made use of all the space needed for outdoor dining, evening drinks and an area with a dart board to keep the kids amused. We didn't really need a TV as the views over Loch Ness were to die for and we didn't want to waste a second of our time there. The younger members of our party enjoyed the kayaking in the loch and had brought their own kayak and also their bicycles which they enjoyed riding on the many trails in the area. Not too far from Fort Augustus or Aviemore where we visited Loch Morlich with its beach area and beach cafe. I could go on and on but I will end here with an assurance that we thoroughly enjoyed our week here and none of us wanted to leave (even our 2 retrievers Bailey and Willow). The cabin is absolutely wonderful and I cannot praise the housekeeper enough as the cabin was spotless. Our thanks to the owners for letting us rent their beautiful cabin!,

This summer house, shipped in from Sweden on an Articulated lorry, is truly the "best of"! Located in a quiet clearing, completely private and yet 15mins walk from the pubs and restaurants of Fort Augusta. The charming owners live close by and have thought of everything! The kitchen is better equipped than ours - no kidding! The whole place is cleaned to Swiss levels of scrupulous cleanliness, it feels like you are the first people ever to stay there, no wonder they get repeat visitors.

Lovely cottage, fully modernised but retains character. The views from the kitchen and dining area, out over the River Spey, are wonderful. Perfect location, secluded but within easy reach of Aviemore. We are very keen to return.

Blessed by beautiful weather, it was so nice being back in Shieldaig. Swimming from the front door, climbing in the Torridon mountains, and cycling up and over the Bealach pass, It was just like doing our very own Celtman (but without the 3am start).!! Pie Head is such a comfortable and well kept house that it is a real pleasure to spend time relaxing with the family (as opposed to competing) there. This being our third visit I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back.

Best holiday cottage we've ever rented in 26yrs. Fabulous uninterrupted loch views and generous living space . Well appointed furniture and fittings . Not for the fragile though as it's a hugely steep climb up to the house from the village . Certainly good for fitness levels !

Beach Lodge

This is our second visit to Beach Lodge, a little piece of paradise. The house is spacious but cozy. Three living areas and just enough tech to keep in touch with the rest of the world if you have to; Freesat TV, and basic broadband with wi-fi over much of the house. Six plus a dog had really relaxing stay, amazing walks down the beach towards Killantringan or the opposite direction up to where it's gets pretty rocky and the sand runs out. Back to the house for meals, sitting out the back cooking up a barbeque or in the sun room watching the kestrels above the hillside and the cows come down to the front meadow for a bit of evening grazing. Being tucked down a rough track keeps most day trippers at bay. Been up and down here in a fully loaded car with no issue so don't let the road put you off. Portpatrick is just 15 minutes away with some good pubs and restaurants. Stranraer about 25 minutes away with a good choice of shops and supermarkets. We just stocked up for the week and enjoyed the seclusion. Barely saw another person all week. The directions are a bit misleading, the postcode is DG9 0RR; a what3words location is ///stands.enclosing.wonderfully.

Cottage was all that we hoped for. Very clean and well equipped. Telescope was a well used bonus. Perfect balance of getting away with a good selection of local amenities close at hand (cafe, village shop and the Chidakasha veg restaurant all within a few miles). The views over Loch Pooltiel from the house make the visit - on our stay we daily watched seals bathe on the skerry, one day a pod of dolphins visited the loch and otters were also spotted. The walk around the headland to the lighthouse is a good hike and there are variety of other walks in the area. Bird life also exceptional. Hoping to return soon.

We had a wonderful stay at Kincardine Cottage, it really does feel in the middle of nowhere with lots of wildlife to see, the deer even came into the garden so we didn't have to look very hard! There are a number of towns including Aviemore not too far away so you have all of the things you need and a lovely loch 1 mile away for gentle swimming.

The Orchids

The Orchids is an exceptional property in every way. It's in a stunning location with a constantly changing view across Loch Dunvegan, and is very peaceful. Along with the local rabbits, we had visits from some of the more adventurous sheep and lambs, recognising individuals by the end of the week. Seals swam in the loch in front of us most days and we were thrilled to see dolphins feeding on the incoming tide on a number of occasions - one evening we watched them for a constant three hours or so! We were stunned at how well equipped the kitchen was; there wasn't a single thing that had been overlooked. The living room was comfortable but, to be honest, it stayed largely unused throughout our stay, as the view from the dining room was far more captivating than the TV! We made use of some of the large selection of games and, had the weather not been so unexpectedly good, would probably have done some of the jigsaws too (this was a lovely touch). We were also pleased at the eco-friendliness of the property, due to the solar panels and the ground source pump heating system. The main upstairs bedroom was the only one we used and the bed was extremely comfortable. The ensuite shower was (to quote my husband) the best shower in the world. I honestly can't recommend the Orchids highly enough. It's perfect in every way and I'd love to visit again one day.

An absolutely wonderful cottage, cute, romantic, and well-decorated with a good shower and comfy beds. The garden is full of wildlife, and has the most astounding view over Loch Alsh- you can see Eileen Donan Castle lit up at night, and watch terns fishing in the day. Easter Knocklea Cottage

Easter Knocklea was not only a wonderful property to hunker down in but also a great springboard in which to explore the Cairngorm and Moray. The property is elevated with views out and no other house can be seen within the vista in front of you. A really comfortable, well-considered house with many rooms for guests to spread out and find areas either to be quiet in or come together. Spotless, considered and hidden away from the hubbub; book it if you can.

Burnside cottage is a real gem of a cottage! It has wonderful views from both the kitchen diner and the living room across to the isles of Rassay, Rona and Skye. Well equipped, clean and comfortable with a wood burning stove, all ready prepared with logs, if it became chilly. The bathroom must have one of best views in the UK! This an ideal place for getting away from it all: the village shops at Applecross and Shieldaig stock local smoked salmon and the inn at Applecross and the Walled Garden are great places to eat. We would thoroughly recommend it!

They have lots of local knowledge which they share willingly - be it places to go, things to do or where to eat Highlights - the magnificent beaches, some lovely meals and the wildlife. Recommended 1 The boat trip to Shiant Isles (St Kilda Cruises Tarbert) 2 Walks along Luskentyre and Sellebost beaches 3 Best meals Anchorage Leverburgh - great seafood; Scarista House - not cheap but top quality food 4 Coffee shops in short supply best coffee Tala Na Mara All in all a memorable trip, hopefully to be repeated.
