Seascape Cottage

We had an absolutely glorious week in Seascape in early May. We were very lucky with the weather, but even if we hadn't been the cottage is so well done it wouldn't have mattered, as we could have watched the sea and wildlife from complete comfort. As it was we were able to enjoy the wonderful walks along the coast from our front door, where we saw colourful displays of wildflowers, gannets, swallow, seals, and even a porpoise, and much more. The cottage is brilliantly equipped, very comfortable, and Sarah was a wonderful host.

Jura

A very comfortable and well-equipped cottage with great views. However, there were a few things which need improvement and meant that I couldn't give it a higher rating. The main bug bear is the shower - it is barely more than a trickle and not what you need after a cold day out in the hills. The heating is by various plug-in heaters, not a problem in itself but some timers would be useful in colder months (or a snowy May!!). The cooker is very basic and old and needs to be replaced, it takes an age for the rings to heat up /cool down and the oven door is almost falling off.

Elderbank

We've had an amazing time at Elderbank. It's a lovely cottage, very well equipped, so even on a rainy day there would be plenty to do. It has a beautiful garden full of birds and bunnies hopping about. Most importantly, it's close to a few beautiful beaches and short local walks. There's also plenty of great hikes within an hour's drive. We're definitely coming back!

I needed a quiet holiday and this was perfect, a short walk from Fort Augustas, a swedish log cabin in its own clearing with loads of space for the dogs to run, cabin was fantastic, spotlessly clean, and nice and cosy when the log burner was alight. A thank you to the owners who welcomed us and recommended some great walks. We travelled all the way from the New Forest and it was worth every mile, a good central location for exploring the Highlands, we went to Malaig, Nairn and Isle of Skye. We shall soon be planning to come back next year.

Lovely cottage with a view that is perfect. Comfortable, warm and well equipped, all making for a fantastic holiday. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting some rest and relaxation. We also highly rate Wilderness Cottages, as they dealt with a hiccup in our holiday plans in a professional and compassionate manner. Thank you.

This place is wonderfully hidden away down single lane roads and a very bumpy track- but it is worth it for the view alone. There can be little better than sitting out in the sun first thing in the morning watching the gannets diving for their breakfast and watching the local sheep on their early wanderings. The place is small but spacious enough for two- in fact the bath would seat far more than two- it is huge, but the shower is great too- underfloor heating in the bathroom a plus. Kitchen was well equipped and supplied. One down side the internet was not working while we were there and we had not been advised beforehand- only vodafone has any mobile reception so if you need to be in contact with the outside world bear that in mind- O2 reception kicked in about half a mile down the road. Do take advantage of the local walks- the local beach is amazing you just have to find it first!

This is by far the best self catering cottage that we have stayed in. The layout of the cottage has been well thought out and all our requirements met. The area is an ideal centre for touring the Highlands, walking and wild life watching in the more remote glens. Yvonne, husband and family are very friendly and willing to provide assistance when required.

We loved Hill Cottage (Tigh Cnoc). It is clean, bright and simply but well furnished. We very much appreciate that the croft was worked and house was built by Fiona's great grandfather and has remained in the family since. We kayaked, cycled, walked and bird-watched and loved to look at the views from the conservatory. 2 friends, Ann and Alan joined us on the 17th as the covid restrictions had eased. We hope to return to the hills, sea and peace and the lovely house.

A superb cottage in a great location, near Portree but in a peaceful site in the Braes. We really loved the modern, clean but very comfortable accommodation and it provided everything we needed (2-4 adults). A great base for exploring Skye, especially North and Mid areas; Trotternish, Old man of Storr, Dunvegan, Edinbane and Talisker areas and we loved the Faerie Pools near the Cuillin. Absolutely loved this cottage and the holiday on Skye!

All good things come to those who wait and because of Covid I had to move this holiday exactly one year on from the same date in 2020. The wait was absolutely worth it and my stay at Leachachan Barn doesn't get any more "good" than any holiday home I have stayed in, having visited nearly 20 properties in the last three years. The view from the Barn's Lounge is truly unrivalled. I will return one day.

This location is unreal, it's like nothing I've ever experienced. It's got such a secluded private beach and a walled garden. Went with another couple and our dogs and had a wonderful time. Would love to go back in the summer. The lodge is starting to look a bit tired, and could do with a bit of a freshen up but don't let that put you off. I'd love to live in a location like this!!

I was so lucky to have a holiday booked just as Scotland was coming out of lockdown and especially lucky to be at Plodda Falls Lodge. Thank you once again to Jenny for a lovely welcome and cake. I have visited Plodda several times now but it's everything you want from a highland holiday and more. I saw numerous deer, two pine martins and woodpecker around the lodge. The weather was Scottish but the changes it makes to the mountains surrounding the lodge is stunning and some great photos. Murphy and Kevin (Labradors) had a fab time on our walks and thanks again to Jenny for keeping me company. I can't wait to book again.

We had a wonderful week here and were even relatively lucky with the weather. Jenny is a great, welcoming host who bakes a mean Rhubarb cake. The Lodge is full of character and in a remote and peaceful location. The bird feeders provided great home entertainment particularly the Siskin, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Scotland's plumpest Chaffinches. The long walk around Loch Affric is worth every step- truly stunning. We journeyed from South Wales in an electric vehicle -Scotland is well equipped with EV charge points. Our two dogs, Monty and Minnie enjoyed the week as much as we did with the magical evening forest walks a real highlight. Thanks once again Jenny!

North Lodge is in a super secluded location on the edge of the estate if you want to get away from it all. Bed and sofas were very comfy. Lovely walks around the estate, could do with a better map marking tracks though. Good location for exploring the local area. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again in the future. Only minor things but parts of the property could have been a bit cleaner and the water pressure was really low in the kitchen. Bird food was left for the feeders which was a nice touch. Saw red and grey squirrels, and lots of different birds on the feeders.

We have just had a wonderful week at Plodda Falls Lodge. Jenny was there to welcome us with a delicious Christmas cake and a tree with lights on in the lounge. The walks from the door were stunning and the surrounding area was well worth exploring. The dogs thought it was heaven. A perfect pre-Christmas getaway.
