Had a wonderful stay in a lovely cottage in an outstanding location . Little touches, like beautiful flowers and Scottish shortbread on arrival as a welcome, and I love the heated floor in the bathroom! Will definitely be back.

Well maintained cottage and garden in the most beautiful surroundings. Great location for exploring the immediate area as well as Inverness and Elgin. We had a fantastic time taking in the scenery (woodland and beach) and wildlife. Dog friendly which is great.

Balachladdich

We enjoyed our recent stay in Balachladdich with family. The beds were so comfy, everything was spotless. A safety gate.at the bottom of the stairs would have been usefu!, We had a very active 2 year old with us who can't keep still and wanted to play on the stairs. When you get to the top there are a few steps to each bedroom and she loved it. On returning home she got up on the next day to ask where the palace had gone.

The cottage is in a perfect location and was a wonderful place to stay. We were very happy to make use of the wood-burning stove on a couple of rainy evenings so it was kind of you to leave us kindling and some logs. Everything was very comfortable and we coped easily with the water.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wonderful location - everything a wilderness cottage should be. We were a bit disconcerted at having a bath in brown water. !!!!!! It would be really helpful if there was a shower as with 4 adults sharing a house without one is rather awkward

Dear Mr Spencer Thank you for your review - so glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately, with a private water supply, the water can be somewhat discoloured - especially in the Cairngorms. We will pass on your recommendation regarding the shower to the owners.

Plodda Falls Lodge

Plodda Falls Lodge is a little slice of heaven. Frozen in time and full of wonder. The surrounding forest is straight out of a Tolkien novel, wild, mysterious and full of wildlife. You can fill your days exploring the vast and ancient forest, forage for wild blueberries and raspberries, wander up the track and visit the breathtaking Plodda Falls and, weather permitting, take a dip in the cool fresh water. The night time brings it's own beauty, skies full of stars and bats skillfully soaring through the skies. And a peaceful quiet decends over the highlands. Jenny (and Kevin) are very welcoming, Jenny made a delicious cake for our arrival which was greatly appreciated along with the lovely fresh lettuce and eggs she gifted us. Also as a parting gift we received a delicious bottle of Plodda Falls elderberry cordial. Overall a very relaxing and peaceful week. Sad to leave such a wonderful place and we will definitely return. I leave a little piece of my heart at Plodda.

Log House

We had another great week at the Log House but, be warned, there are a lot of bats roosting in the roof space. This didn't bother us previously and may indeed be a strong appeal to many people (if you like bats) but if you're not keen on bats do be aware. They were very noisy in the main bedroom and we did have one find it's way into the kitchen one night. If you like bats though it really is a super cabin.

White Tail Croft is a beautiful house where the owners have thought of everything. The sauna is great after a hike, coffee machine, comfy beds, log burner, lovely soaps etc etc. It's only a 15-20 drive from Portree however it's wonderfully located with fantastic views. It would be a fab place for a honeymoon, it was lovely and warm when we arrived and spotless, we loved it

Excellent house and garden. Perfect location in that there are many activities in the area but the house is very much far from the madding crowd. It would be quite easy to park the car for a week and cycle everywhere you needed to go.

Cala

A perfect retreat from a busy life. Cala is a very individual property in a beautiful spot with stunning views of the Scottish Highlands and sits just above Loch Nedd. We found the space so relaxing with plenty of space, large windows and a well equipped kitchen. The well stocked local store at Drumbeg not only offered food and drink for our weeks stay but were welcoming and offered us local knowledge which complemented the information at the house. We enjoyed mountain and coastal walks, a host of wildlife and cosy afternoons at home.

The house was lovely and the owner was very helpful. The views from the garden were beautiful and we were able to watch dolphins and seals (with some of the seals coming out onto the rocks beside the house). The kitchen was very spacious and having the Rayburn for the cooking was great. All three bedrooms were quite unique in their own way, with the two larger ones restored with as much of the original materials as possible. The whole house was very clean, well equipped and we all enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Wonderful cottage. We didn't want to leave. Cottage is peaceful, with fabulous views of the surrounding landscape and great road links to many places of interest. The cottage is a real gem, particularly loved the rainforest shower, heated flooring and the wood burner too. There is also an excellent surprise with this cottage, something we didn't expect but I wont spoil it for you???? Excellent hosts Jacqui and Jeff who gave us insider tips about the surrounding area and trips out. We had the most amazing holiday, could not fault the cottage at all. Arrivain Cottage is fabulous! We can't wait to return.

Seal Skerry Lodge

Seal Skerry Lodge is a spacious, clean and comfortable modern dwelling with two bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen, Wi Fi and outside decking. All you need to take with you is your own food as the nearest supermarket is in Portree. The Lodge is in a spectacular elevated position near the head of Loch Pooltiel with views of the wildlife and a landscape stretching to the Outer Hebrides. It is not overlooked and feels very private. There are lots of walks and there are several places to eat nearby. A very slight word of caution is that the nine mile access road is a winding single track affair which is extremely busy at peak periods due to the attraction of Neist Point. Highly recommended though.

Pier Head

Pier Head was an old fisherman's house, really fine rebuilt from 2011 - 2016. It's very comfortable, good equipped and beautiful furnished with more than enough space for a party of six, with a terrace and two well situated bays, from where you have a great view over Loch Shieldaig, the isle and the minch (as well from two upper ground bedrooms). Shieldaig is a lively, but never crowded place, with a small shop, restaurant and a bar. If you are lucky, you can enjoy local life music there. You will also find a lot of good walks from easy to tough grade in the area. Booking kajak- or boattrip is possible. Highly recommended!
