We spent an absolutely amazing week at this spectacular unique property, Donald was simply one of the best supplying us with the essentials we needed including a lovely bottle of wine until we could get to the shops the next day as we arrived quite late in the evening. We felt totally relaxed from day one enjoying the views and wildlife right outside our window, we both tried to find our artist within by having a go a watercolor painting which we thoroughly enjoyed with such beautiful scenery to inspire us.. we cannot recommend this property enough it was superb. Pooltiel House is situated in a beautiful spot overlooking Loch Pooltiel, Dunvegan Head and the Outer Hebrides. Dolphins can be seen in the Loch from the garden, and it's a short drive to Neist Point which is a stunning place to spend a few hours. The house is very well equipped and very comfortable and is also a short drive from Glendale for emergency supplies and the superb Cafe Lephin. It's a good idea to make sure you have basics for when you arrive as there is no milk/bread provided, unlike many other Wilderness Cottages. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a stunning setting this cottage ticks every box!

We have just spent an amazing week at Easter Knocklea Cottage. A beautiful property inside and out. Spacious, yet cosy, with many different seating areas. A well equipped kitchen, including an extra fridge and freezer in the very useful boot room! We enjoyed having meals in the conservatory where the views across the valley were amazing. We also spent lots of time sitting outside admiring the view and the wildlife. The property is in a secluded position, with just 1 near neighbour, but a very useful Spar shop in the village of Bellabeg a few miles down the road. We had a great time exploring the local area and the wider Cairngorm area including the Balmoral estate.

Loved the view from the living room window! The house is huge (we were four), rooms are spacious. Beds new and very comfortable, but interior (most of all the shower and the kitchen) might need an upgrade as it is quite old. Overall cleanliness has room for improvement as well. We were unfortunately unable to cope with the heating regulation, thank God we had the fireplace. :) Owner made some efforts to keep up communication with us. Turned out that he went on a short trip which is totally ok, but it would have been convenient to have someone around and approachable. Had a very lovely week on Skye!

We had a great time at White-Tail Croft. The accommodation is very comfortable, the views are fantastic and the house is very well-furnished. It's difficult to find anything much that could be improved but perhaps some black-out blinds in the bedrooms would be a good idea - it can be difficult to fall asleep on those light evenings/nights in the summer, especially for those of us used to darker skies!

This cottage was all we were looking for. 50 metres to the water - which we did dip in on several occasions - seals swimming when the tide came in, herons and other birds and in the evening, the reddeers came by slow nibbling the grass. We could sit for hours just looking at the view of the Loch Kishon and Cuilins of Skye in the distance. Friendly neighbour also, we had a great time. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, perfect for a family of four adults, and "checking in" was no problem at all. Everything worked and we did not have the need for contacting the owner. As a matter of courtesy I informed of our arrival an departure per sms but did not receive a reply. Turned out the owner's number was a landline, but Wilderness Cottages made sure to inform the owner on our behalf. Dealing with Wilderness Cottages was also very easy and straighforward. Their representative was friendly and accommodating and made sure everything went smooth. I will not hesitate to recommend this cottage, it is exquisite and the location is epic. Wilderness Cottages are a booking agent and having reviewed our files this issue has not been raised in the past.. We have contacted the owner to discuss the access issues further. Pooltiel House is a superb holiday home: beds, bathrooms, kitchen are first class!!! The view is unique, but some comfortable outdoor chairs would enhance the enjoyment. Guests should be aware that the single track road to the house (approx. 15 miles) is very uncomfortable and a disadvantage for sensitive car owners - small children could swim in some potholes :-). With two large en-suite bedrooms, a large very well equipped kitchen and a cosy sitting area with log burner all of which is scrupulously clean I would highly recommend a visit. Add to that the location - nestled in a well kept area with a large grass section, great for kids and dogs (yet only a ten min walk into the town) you can sit on the veranda and watch the resident red squirrels and numerous varieties of birds. The owner who is a lovely, helpful man is on hand should you have any problems or additional needs and should be commended on how clean and tidy he keeps the cabin and surrounding area. I don't think that I can add anything to the previous reviews!! Plodda Lodge is an extremely comfortably equipped cottage. The kitchen had everything we could have needed (other than Pasta bowls!!!!). Apart from the Garden, we only used the dining room area which was very spacious with good views across the garden. The main bedroom was enormous, with a huge and very comfortable bed, and with windows on 3 sides. It was completely peaceful. Sleeping with the windows open gave us a cool breeze during a heatwave and silence.... At home, although rural, we have traffic and Wood Pigeons from 5.00am so this was bliss!! Jenny enjoyed revisiting after 50 years!! Her cousin bought Plodda Lodge in about 1972 and visited as a 10 and 11 year old.. It was a LOT more basic back then!!!! We both enjoyed spending days in Strathfarrar, Glen Affrich and Glen Cannich. Saw Ospreys, Cuckoos, Golden Eagle, Merlin, Peregrine, Sandpipers with chicks, RB Mergansers plus all the expected. Slavonian Grebes at Loch Ruthven (worth a detour) We will visit again but will have to be sooner then 50 years though, for obvious reasons !!!! It was an absolutely beautiful week. Maybe a highlight was rescuing a 97 year old lady on a mobility scooter who ran out of battery power in a storm on the track back to the Plodda Falls Waterfall car park. As we got her scooter into the car, the lightning was striking in the surrounding trees!! I shouldn't be recommending Plodda so strongly as will make it more difficult for us to rebook !! Jura

Jura Cottage is located on the Applecross peninsula and has a most incredible view of the mountains. The location is perfect. The cottage itself is a typical cottage of the area with a lovely veranda which can be used when it is not raining. When it is, it is too cold unless one uses blankets which were not available in the cottage (at least none which were not eaten by the moths). The cottage is heated with electric heaters which work well, however it does mean that one comes home to a cold house which for us was not so good as it rained a lot and basically it was cold all the time. It is not possible to take a nice shower after a cold day in the rain, because the shower has very little pressure and a thin stream comes out. Certainly not enough to wash hair. The cottage was dark (which is to be expected of a traditional cottage), but did not feel very clean. There was no welcome package, so we did not know where to find the internet code or how to things worked. Fortunately a friendly neighbour helped us out. The cottage had a lovely fireplace and enough wood for two days. That was really nice. All in all, this cottage has potantial but a lot needs to be done. Throw out the 50 year old moldy books, give it a REALLY good clean (and clean it regularly), get rid of all the carpets which do not feel too clean either and generally prepare it for guests. We did have a lovely time, but the cottage did not contribute too much to that.
