Jura

The view from Jura cottage is exceptional and the sun room is just lovely. The location is truly ideal in order to get away from everything as there is no internet which is amazing. We found that the kitchen needed to be better equipped, particularly the electric cooker which was very old and very slow, and basic equipment such as can opener, brush and shovel needed to be replaced. Apart from this, we had a lovely week in Arrina and would definitely thoroughly recommend the area.

Old Lock Keepers Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at the Old Lock Keepers Cottage very much. Finding the cottage was a breeze and access is easy. The cottage is well equipped and cosy, with the coal/log burner in the lounge being very welcome after a long day out. The weather wasn't kind to us on our visit but there was no problem in finding something interesting to do. Ft. William, Inverness and Skye are easy to get to if you want to explore further afield. If heavy rain is forecast or the weir is high, we'd recommend parking on the other side of the lock, as mentioned in the booking information we received. The walk from one side of the lock to the other is short, safe and easy, so there's no bother parking there. Booking with Wilderness Cottages was a pleasure and we would definitely use them again.

Myself and husband had a weeks holiday at Beach Lodge, last month. Nice house and location. The only problem we had was with the beds - all were the same. I have a back and associated problems, so I was the most affected. Managed to cushion the bed a bit with an old sleeping bag we had but I still didn't sleep well. The state of the mattresses might not bother some or younger bones but a decent mattresses is a basic requirement especially at the price one pays when only two of you. Also, saw the old scratch marks where poor dogs had been locked in which included a small room (toilet). Dog shouldn't be left, especially if the people concerned are just going for a meal or whatever. It's not fair on the dogs or the property re damage. We never leave our dogs like that. Other than the present bed situation, we did enjoy our stay and can recommend this holiday property and location - our dogs agree!

Dear Mrs Fletcher, Thank you for your review and feedback on Beach Lodge. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will pass on your comments to the owners of the property regarding the matresses. We do stress to all guests that pets are not to be left alone in properties however as you can appreciate some guests sadly choose to ignore this. Kind regards, The Wilderness Cottages team

Seascape cottage was just fantastic. So well equipped and the owners were so friendly and kind. Just the kind of isolated spot we love with everything we needed. I have done cottage holidays for years, but this has to be the VERY BEST. The Peninsul is fascinating and Stranraer a town which has everything one would need. Belfast for a day is so easy and cost effective - well a great day out and at an amazing fare!! Will be back!

If the only negative thing that you can find to say is that the wok needs up grading, then you must be on to a winner choosing to stay at Coltsfoot. To be met by the very helpful owner on our arrival was a nice touch. The property was warm, comfortable and set in nice surroundings with the lovely sound of the river in the garden. Comfortable beds and very nice showers made this property a very enjoyable place to stay.

We enjoyed using top quality binoculars, books and maps and appreciated the stunning paintings and decorative objects. John and Ruth have thought of everything to make a stay in Tor Cottage really most enjoyable. They are most welcoming and happy to advise on anything a visitor may want to ask about. Cluny Croft is far more than it appears from the description. The cottage is well appointed, and has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well stocked and very user friendly. We spent a wet week here, and appreciated the excellent heating, the draft free windows, as well as the several feet thick cottage walls which meant we slept through the raging storm outside. The real fire is delightful once darkness falls, and there is plenty of fuel provided. We will definitely be back in the spring, this cottage fulfilled every need we had, is well positioned for exploring but not too remote. The view from the front windows is delightfully ever changing.

A clean and comfortable cottage in the most stunning setting. We loved the starry nights, the sound of the stags roaring, the hinds grazing in the field next door, the nightly pine marten visits, the drive to Kinloch Hourn. The weather wasn't great, but the utter beauty of your surroundings more than made up for it. We loved it so much we have already booked for next year!

Stablemans Lodge

We stayed for three nights at Stablemans Lodge and would like to return. The area is wonderful and the Lodge is all you could ask for (unless you wanted a lodge in a remote truly wilderness part of the Cairngorms!). The kitchen is well equipped for most types of food preparation and cooking. The dining/living room area is spacious and comfortable with a cosy wood burning stove (easy to use and logs provided). A good sized shower-room with an effective electric shower. The sleeping area is unusual (although accurately described on the website) in being dormitory style so you would have to be satisfied that you are all happy with that. The beds are very comfortable and the sleeping area is spacious, airy and comfortable - hot water bottles provided. The owners live next door so are available if you have any queries. They are not at all intrusive - we saw them briefly shortly after we moved in and then just once in passing. A really lovely, peaceful place to stay.

Absolutely loved the cottage and the breathtaking situation. Had a truly lovely holiday. We had a superb holiday at this property. The location feels remote but is only 15 minutes from the supermarket on the outskirts of Portree. Very well appointed and comfortable. We had very mixed weather but even on our few days spent indoors, the views of the constantly changing sky and colours in the landscape from the floor to ceiling window in the lounge were a joy. We did see sea eagles and hawk harriers, magnificent starry skies and the occasional shooting stars. The satellite WiFi is perfectly functional for browsing but does not accommodate streaming which was fine for us. We took a couple of DVD box sets and there was Freeview TV available. If you are looking for total peace in beautiful surroundings with a view of the Cuillin mountains in the distance, do not hesitate to book this property. It is brilliant value for money and we hope to visit again.

The peace and tranquility of the woods right on your doorstep is wonderful. The walks from the lodge are endless and Glen Affric is stunning and beautiful. Jenny the owner was kind enough to take me on my first Munro walk and put up with a lot of moaning 'are we there yet?!' the view was stunning, changing weather was so Scottish, sun, wind, rain, sleet, snow, mist in a matter of minutes..unforgettable!

If you enjoy peace and tranquillity, excellent accommodation, and great sea views, Seascape is the place to stay. Great week at Hill Cottage. A chilled out getaway from it all. Miles from anywhere. Lovely scenery. Cottage is well stocked with everything you need for a peaceful break. Conservatory is lovely and every morning sat in there listening to radio 2 watching the sunrise, sheep coming down from the hills and fishing boats going out. Only downside is shower. Small and temperamental. Don't see point in having limited wifi... would rather there not be any. We went as a couple and it brought us even closer together. No life distractions. Wish we could live there full time. Amazing place.
