The house is perfectly situated to explore the area. Having the very kind and helpful owners just next door was appreciated, however privacy was fully granted. We loved the spotlessly clean, new and proper house where nothing was missing and the furnishing with its personal touch. We can highly recommend this property.

What a lovely setting and a lovely cottage. Everything you would or could need its a home from home. A welcoming stack of tummels and milk in the fridge. It was warm so I didn't need to light either the fire or log burner. There were instructions about all the utilities. Location over the Loch. When we arrived there were deer in the garden. So many birds and wildlife around. Very quiet, peaceful and a time to rest. I had never been to the Highlands before, I will definitely be coming back. The village is a short walk away with two petrol stations, a spar, a couple of eateries Lochcarron Hotel open all day lovely scones and coffee, waterside cafe also has nice food. Rock villa and Butchers not open all the time booking is needed for the Bistro. Plockton is a lovely village, you can go by train or drive there are boat trips with Calum to see the seals. . Kishorn has a lovely seafood bar. The roads are narrow and there are passing places.

Property is in a great location but access may be difficult for some especially with mobility issues. Parking is awkward due to a very uneven driveway with a sharp bend which is poorly lit. Property was very clean upon arrival with comfy beds and plenty of blankets and towels. Received a welcome pack of wine, flowers, bread and milk which was nice. Little details missing such as a shower caddy, one mirror in the entire house located in the bedroom. We have stayed in many properties through Wilderness Cottages, this one is by far the least equipped. Overall we enjoyed our stay, guess we just miss the comforts of home.

Although there is WiFi the speed is very slow, I ended up using my phone network as it was faster. The house is full of character, but it's a big place and does take some warming up

About as far from our everyday home as we could get, opening the front door to Swallow's Byre was an absolute delight. In a very beautiful location, this little croft had everything that you would need, it was extremely well presented. You would not want to holiday here if you wanted to be in the thick of things, so for us, who were looking to get right away from everything, this property could not have ticked more boxes. Instead of walking everywhere, we trialled our electric bikes and we found, to our total pleasure, endless roads and tracks to use all over the area. There are all sorts of venues both near and far and the croft is so located as to provide easy access to them all. It was a home from home and we wanted for nothing, we would most definitely return, probably in a different season, a very special thank you to Jane the owner for her every attention to detail.

What a super house! Its been said by others, but can stand saying again - the house is wonderfully designed, spendidly equipped, and perfectly located. It was very nicely prepared and presented for us. We met the charming gentleman who tends to the property both inside and out who gave us tips about where to walk and where to eat. The house has left its mark on us. After playing the piano in the house ( for the first time in over 50 years ) ( how many holiday cottages offer this ? ) one of the first things we did on our return was to order one of our own; and we fell for the wonderfully efficient log burner ( yes, we did not have the best of weather) and plan to replace ours with one similar. This was our first dealings with Wilderness Cottages, and we suspect it will not be our last. We have a "house rule" which states that we never return to any holiday location - but if we didn't, we would !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would not hesitate to return or to recommend it. The location is peaceful with pretty, gentle views and it is well situated for touring the rest of Skye. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable, though with mild, sunny weather we didn't put the wood burning stove to the test. The lack of curtains in the living area was initially off putting but as we got used to it we wouldn't have wanted to block out the views with curtains. Seascape Cottage

We all have different wants and needs from the place we are going to call home for a short period, We wanted Wilderness!, hence the website, we wanted by the coast, hence "seascape", we wanted seclusion, peace and an environment opposite to our manicured grasslands, inland farming location. To have all this I expected we would have to compromise on something, perhaps bed comfort, water temperature, view etc, How wrong I was, Seascape delivered on everything and in all cases surpassed all expectations. The complementary welcome pack was a lovely surprise, the cottage was homely, well equipped, Sarah was a delight! Location, well where else can you watch the solan goose diving for fish " from your bed" If you have a love for the wild and woolly rugged west coast with its secret bays and rocks, tides and changeable weather, this cottage does what it says on the tin. Go and experience, you will not regret it, and probably remember it for ever. ( Note! Pubs and shops a short drive) just stock up. Advice! do not take the sports car as you may lose the exhaust going down the lane. Enjoy

2nd stay here. Still love it. It was like we were here last week. Still exactly the same. Full of rustic charm. Track down to it is getting pretty rough but can be negotiated with care. The weather this time was amazing. We even got a little sunburnt lazing on the decking & long beach walks with our crazy collies Jess & Macy. Once again... this location is so secluded & just stunning. Plenty of wildlife around, deer on the surrounding hills & in the garden ( Macy wasn't a fan ), Cows, rabbits, birds of prey, red squirrels, fox, pheasants. No wi-fi & almost no cell phone signal.. loved it. Will hopefully return next year.

Poulary Cottage

Superb week in Poulary Cottage, warm and comfortable and the location is exceptional. Pine Marten visited each evening and the birds were a joy to watch. As good as it was, having paid top money for a two bedroom cottage, there are a numer of issues that need attention which are above and beyond the remit of Audrey who did an excellent job of making sure the property was clean and ready for our visit. Some roof tiles have become dislodged and are in danger of falling from the roof. Two decking boards drop when walked on due to the support timber being rotten. The bath panel is broken at the shower end of the bath. The hand basin taps are loose. The TV is wedged into a corner unit and lodged on a piece of timber giving partial obstruction when viewing the screen. TV instructions direct you to use Sky controller but there is no Sky box or controller. The sofa in the lounge smelt fairly strongly of dogs. Some general TLC wouldn't go amiss. I mention these issues because if the owners wish to continue letting this property it would be good if they were addressed for the benefit of future clients.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Poulary Cottage. Firstly we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Poulary We have contacted the owner and made him aware of the issues raised. He is disappointed to receive such feedback as he visited the property 3 weeks ago was not aware of the issues raised. He will have these attended to as soon as possible. Apologies for TV comments being confusing, there is no Sky Box/Controllers in the cottage as this has been replaced with a Smart Freesat TV. This new TV gives a far greater range of viewing options, he will update these instructions to reflect this. Pets do cause problems at times and there are instructions in place to request that pets are not allowed on furniture or in bedrooms however guests do not always follow these. The cleaner is aware of this and does open windows/doors for airing during the changeover of the house and pays particular attention to removing dog hair from carpets etc. He will discuss this with her and see what additional steps he can take to remove odour from pets.

Great location. The beach is beautiful, to sit in the sunshine on the decking under a cloudless sky and watch the Irish Sea is a rare treat and surely what we all visit this place for. However the cottage itself could do with a facelift starting with the decor. The whole place needs decorating and the dull old pictures need replacing. The bed is rather narrow too. However the cottage is well equipped. The heating works well and the fire Is an added bonus. Wi-Fi should be installed as a matter of urgency and a better tv is needed. It's well equipped for cooks and comfortable with Bluetooth portable speaker, a good quality TV and that fabulous sauna for when the weather makes staying in with a fire and books a great option. Large picture windows, deer and buzzards coming quite near. The house is really lovely, modern, well designed and easily the best place we have stayed at in Scotland (and we come annually) and the photos don't really do it full justice as it's much roomier than we expected. It feels quite isolated but really quite near to Portree for eating out and shopping. Two small points: This is a very individual thing but for us the bed was quite hard so maybe either bring a soft topper or perhaps the owners can store one away for us softies. Also the food cupboard at the far left was so full that there is now nowhere in the kitchen cupboards to put anything that you bring or buy. But they are tiny things and we were so happy to be there. We booked Toberaie to get away, be remote and have the winter wilderness experience - and boy did we get it! Arrived in very heavy snow and temperatures of minus 10. It is a rustic old cottage with a lot of character and history which we loved. No central heating but fire wood provided, electric heaters and the real treat for us were the electric blankets. We needed them! The views are absolutely amazing, night stars, complete silence, it was a wonderful get away for us. Kids can just go out and explore, they loved it . Kitchen had everything we needed and although small, functioned well for us. Like other reviews living room fire chews up the wood and doesn't give out too much heat (although we really did have very low temperatures) so we just shut the door to the living room and lived in the dining room - that stove works well and is fairly economical with the wood usage. We enjoyed our time there, and since being home the children keep asking to go back, so I think we will be back!
