Fantastic stay at The Granary. Everything we needed was there. Yvonne and Colin are great hosts. Lots to do close by, or short drive away. One of our favourite holiday cottages we have stayed in. Really hope to go back next year.

Skye perfection. We loved our week here. The studio was very well appointed, the views were completely uninterrupted with not a soul or house in sight. The studio was so warm, and bathed in sunshine all day in late September that we were disappointed we couldn't justify the use of the lovely log burner. We cannot wait to return!

Shore Cottage

We had a very good holiday at Shore Cottage. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable, however, there is no heating in the conservatory which was a shame as we were unable to spend much time in there to enjoy the view of the sea. We found that there was very poor mobile signal at the cottage, which meant we were unable to make calls or use the internet. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday and we hope to return again.

What a wonderful holiday. The wildlife was plentiful (and just outside the window), the location ideal for exploring and the cottage itself extremely comfortable. As regular visitors to Scotland, we always look to move on to new areas. For the first time, we're seriously considering coming back. Oak cottage is a gem - let's hope for our sake that not too many people discover it.

Plodda Falls Lodge

This was our 4th stay at Plodda Falls Lodge and we are already planning to return in 2 years. The house is beautiful, rich with 200 years of history and we just absolutely adore the fireplace. Even when the rain cancels some planned hikes or walks, you get to enjoy your time in a warm room with a blazing fire. The area was as relaxing and beautiful as ever, with stunning sceneries and lovely people to meet. Our dogs really enjoyed the large garden and it was just all round bliss once again.

Wildwood

Just had a fabulous holiday at Wildwood for the October school break with our teenage twin daughters. It is in a really peaceful setting amongst the forest which was absolutely stunning with all the autumn colours. Its a great location being reasonable walking distance from Fort Augustus and Loch Ness but feels very tranquil. There are some lovely easy walks you can do right from the house (if you aren't 'proper' walkers but love being outdoors like us) lots of trails off into the woodlands or along the River Oich. Loads to see just a short drive away, would recommend Urqhart Castle and the Falls of Foyers. Fort Augustus itself is interesting with the canal and very pretty. The cafes and gift shops are fine but a little pricey. We loved the mill shop though, great value, and also just along the road at Invermoriston the Clog and Craft shop is well worth a visit. The house is really spacious, clean and comfortable and great value for the rates charged. Loved the upstairs sitting room with great views of the trees and loads of comfy seating, we had a couch each! Kitchen is a great size too and well equipped. Was also brilliant to have a separate room for all the outdoor wear and extra stuff! I could get used to the walk in wardrobe/ dressing room in the master bedroom too! It was a perfect base to explore this lovely area, and would be comfortable even with another two or three guests. Highly recommend.

We stayed 6 night in North Lodge, in late October. The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and very well equipped with everything you might need. Lovely, peaceful walks around the estate from the doorstep and lots of feathered visitors to the garden...including dunnocks, jays, a woodpecker and tree creepers. Our two dogs loved pottering around and paddling in the little stream in the garden - but be aware the garden isn't fully fenced if your pooch is liable to take off. Lots of great places to visit in the local area. The beach at Sands of Luce is beautiful and don't miss the Fish Pool at Port Logan. Booking and communication was easy and straightforward.

We had a great week at The Barn; both well equipped and comfortable, it provided everything we needed. As another reviewer has mentioned, the internet is relatively slow. Still, it didn't bother us - it was adequate for checking email and the weather forecast. Easy walks from the door, and there's plenty do do around Loch Ness. Thanks to the owner and Wilderness Cottages for a brilliant break.

We enjoyed staying in the Stables. It is well appointed and right in the centre of the lovely little village of Crail. The setting couldn't be better. The cottage is well looked after and had everything that we needed. At the time that we visited, it was warm and cosy, although we did wonder what it would be like in very cold weather due to it being such a large, tall space. We didn't light the log burner but I'm sure it would have been very cosy, had we done so. We found the heating/hot water controls a little difficult to understand but managed to do the things we needed with it.

An exceptional holiday cottage in an absolutely stunning location!!! Comfortable and cosy we loved the spacious open plan living area, the kitchen was probably the best equipped of any cottage we've ever stayed in, the views in every direction were stunning... Seahorses outperformed our already high expectations in every way. The incredible book selection covering everything from local wildlife to geology to stargazing and the huge array of excellent local walking guides was matchless. Could not recommend more - probably the most wonderful place we have ever stayed as a family, thank you so much to the owners for sharing your truly special house with us. Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. We really enjoyed our stay finding the cottage warm and comfortable. We did find the furnishings a bit sparse - a chest of drawers in the master bedroom would have been a helpful addition to save living out of a suitcase for a week. Some board games / books / information on the area (restaurant recommendations, walks nearby etc) would have been nice to have also. We were unlucky with the weather during our stay so did go out and buy our own puzzle midweek! Overall though these were tiny niggles, and we would definitely stay again if in the area.

We had a wonderful week at Upper Folds. The cottage is really warm and comfortable and in a very peaceful location with walks straight from the door in the surrounding hills. There is a large, enclosed garden which our dog absolutely loved. The drive to the cottage was fine, it includes a small ford and the road is mostly in decent condition, our 4x4 Mazda Bongo campervan was easily up to it, we visited in early October. It was a wonderful escape from the world, no phone signal, no live TV, an amazing chance to switch off and slow down. The house is off grid and powered by solar panels, a small wind turbine and heated by a gas Rayburn which is also the hob and oven, I really enjoyed the chance to cook on it! It was interesting to see how comfortable and warm they have made the house despite being off grid and great to watch the wind turbine spinning knowing it's providing your electricity! A really lovely week, I'd definitely recommend it!

Great location overlooking an aptly named 'skerry' where seals regularly bask. Well thought out ground floor with plenty of floor to ceiling glass for great views of the loch, the Western Isles and the 1000ft hills opposite. Two good sized bedrooms with plenty of storage. Super bathroom and downstairs shower room, this lodge had all we needed for a comfortable and very enjoyable week's stay. Cleanliness was as we would have hoped.
