Macrae Croft is situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village of Gairloch on Scotland’s west coast. Enjoying magnificent views towards the Torridon mountains and the Isle of Skye, this newly built property has been finished to a four star standard. The owner’s attention to detail is evident throughout with beautiful bamboo flooring in the ground floor rooms and bathrooms with beautiful tiled floor and high specification fittings including power showers. In addition they have equipped and furnished the property to an extremely high level. The location of the property makes it an ideal base for exploring this part of Scotland and the north west area further.

The property is located over two floors, downstairs consists of; a large open plan lounge with a wood burner, a spacious dining kitchen, a master bedroom complete with an en-suite shower room, and a separate utility room. Upstairs guests will find two bedrooms; a twin with an en-suite shower room, and a double with an en-suite bath/shower room. A particularly striking feature of the property is the floor to ceiling windows in the lounge and the master bedroom, both of which face the front of the property and have direct access to the large decked area and the enclosed garden. The deck complete with garden furniture, is an ideal place to sit and relax after a day exploring, and to enjoy the magnificent views, and the sunsets over Loch Gairloch below.

Gairloch has a good range of attractions and facilities for the whole family, including many small shops, restaurants and pub, all of which sell the locally caught seafood. The award winning Heritage Museum is an ideal place to visit, offering many fun hands on activities to keep guests of all ages amused, in addition to the usual historical information about the surrounding area. For the golf fan, a small 9 hole course is available. The course though small must be one of the most picturesque courses in the highlands and various visitors’ tickets are available in addition to club and trolley hire.

For those interested in gardening, Inverewe Gardens (National Trust for Scotland) is located six miles north of the village. Famed as being one of the world’s greatest gardens and originally the dream of Sir Osgood Mackenzie, the gardens are filled with exotic flowers from around the world including Chinese rhododendrons and Tasmanian eucalypts. Various vantage points around the gardens allow the guests to take in the views of Loch Ewe and the colorful gardens with their seasonal displays. The added advantage of a restaurant and a retail shop makes this a particularly good day out.

Various boat companies operate in Gairloch and allow the guest to view the local sea and wildlife, one of the most interesting and unique must be a trip on the “Sealife” glass bottom boat, and many others offer fishing. Back on dry land there are walks to be enjoyed and further afield a few Munro’s for the real enthusiast. For children there are many quiet sandy beaches and pony trekking is available at the Gairloch Estate. All in all a fantastic location for a self catering holiday.

A fantastic house in a stunning location. Macrae Croft is a true home-from-home with every need provided for. But it's the location that lifts it to another level: just to sit and watch the scenery changing moment by moment as the weather comes in is wonderful. The owner is very helpful and on hand if needed. A definite 5 stars here!

Had a brilliant time staying at Macrae Croft. The house was immaculate and had everything you could wish for. A real home from home. The views were amazing across the bay to the Torridon mountains. Gorgeous house in a gorgeous location. Marie, the owner, had left shortbread and milk for us which was lovely after a long drive. A week wasn't long enough, didn't want to leave! Will hopefully go again sometime. Thank you!

we had the most delightful holiday in this clean, well equipped Croft, complete with wifi. it was the ideal place for our family and our dogs with excellent facilities, access and bathrooms. We loved it so much that it is now our plan to return as often as we can. (it is my dream retirement house!!). although the weather was mixed it was warm and cozy yet light and airy. the description was exactly how it was with a fully enclosed area so that our pets didnt wander. thank you.

We have just returned from the most amazing 2 weeks staying at Macrae Croft. We could not have hoped for better. The accomodation was superb and the views totally amazing. Mrs Macrae could not have been nicer or more helpful and we were sorry to leave. A brilliant place to stay.
