Tigh na H-Eilde or “cottage of the hinds”, is located in a fabulous rural location in Glen Garry in the central Highlands. The property sits in an elevated position and enjoys spectacular 360 views of the surrounding hills, mountains, river and loch. Its location is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast with walking, climbing, fishing, and mountain biking on your doorstep. Alternatively, its central position means that within an hour’s drive many attractions can be found, these include the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, The Isle of Skye, the Nevis Range Mountain Experience with its year round gondola trip, and Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal.
The property is detached and south facing and set over two floors. The main living accommodation is open plan with the sitting room, kitchen and dining area being one. This room enjoys magnificent views across the hills and down to the River Garry below, and offers direct access via the huge patio doors to a decked area with furniture to the front, from where there are stunning views of Loch Poulary and the local Munro, together with the occasional spectacular sunset. From here it is a 10 minute walk down to the loch. Further facilities on this level include a shower room with a large walk in shower, and a utility room with a washer/dryer.
On the upper level there are two bedrooms, a double located to the front and a twin to the rear. Throughout the property has been tastefully furnished and beautifully equipped to a high standard. The owners live in the adjacent property, although Tigh na H-Eilde has its own private space. The property is located in 40 acres of grounds and guests are free to explore this at their leisure.
The area offers an abundance of wildlife, and during the colder months the local hinds are regular visitors, although may be seen all year round, with the stags joining them in the Autumn. For the wildlife lover this location offers a perfect choice: the bird table attracts all the local birds and there are regular sightings of buzzards, ospreys, sparrow hawks, and rare Whooper swans on the nearby loch in winter. The pine marten is also a regular visitor.
If you are looking to take a pet we do have another property in the vicinity called Poulary Cottage where pets are allowed.
The property does have a private water supply which is UV filtered.
A Good Housekeeping Deposit of £75.00 is required at this property.
The lastest reviews of Tigh na H-Eilde...
We stayed at Shirley and Allan's lodge near Invergarry and had a fantastic time. Due to a road accident ahead of us along the way we were delayed in arriving by 5hrs but this didn't phase Shirley one bit! A lovely warm welcome to a lovely warm lodge. One of the best holidays we've ever had!
Lovely out of the way place ....good accommodation and the deer coming up and feeding the pine marten in the evening was a bonus ....pity the sun did not shine much but that did not stop us getting out and about.....
Great place away from it all. Modern and comfortable house with good hiking on the doorstep. The owners were very nice and despite the house being very close, there was great privacy. Super base to reach also Nevis range, Isle of Skye, Oban and Loch Afric - recommended!
We stayed in this lovely Cottage for one wonderful week im May and were blessed with beautiful weather. But even in the rain - Tigh na H-Eilde is a wonderful Cottage in a beautiful valley. We were even greeted by homemade scones, tea and a nice welcome card upon our arrival. Shirley, the owner is very nice and helpful and the house is immaculate and beautufully furnished. We missed nothing and were sad to go home.
A truly fantastic cottage, superbly maintained with great views around the surrounding area. The information provided by the owners was excellent, we found ourselves dipping in every night to confirm the next days adventures. We used Tigh na H-Eilde as a base to explore the highlands, and for this it was great, being loosely an hour or less from everything we wanted to visit. I really hope to come up again soon, thank you.
We had a fantastic time at Tigh na H-Eilde. The house was amazing. A real home away from home. It had everything you could possibly need and the hosts were very helpful. The house is very remote with outstanding views of the local area and we had many night visits from the pine martins, deer and field mice which made the whole experience even more special. The house is a good base to visit many places. We especially enjoyed visiting the Isle of Skye and Ben Nevis.
Fantastic remote, but not too isolated location, superb views sat in lounge, modern well presented property, got everything you need, lovely and private, couldn't ask for more (apart from better weather, but hey its Scotland what do expect)
Comfortable cottage in middle of a gorgeous landscape, very warm welcome with self-made scones, we'll sure return for another holiday!! Everything worked very well, especially because we arrived at the cottage at 3:30 in the morning.....every evening we were visited by a group of red deer!
Yet an other great stay at Tigh na H-Eilde. This is wonderful secluded cottage in the Scottish Highlands. Wild deer vist and can be hand fed and regular visit from pinemartin to feed on jam sandwitch. Must rate as one of the best holiday cottages in Scotland. Already planning our next visit.
