An Sealladh, Lochinver

Sleeps 6 - Wi-Fi - Open Fire - Pets Welcome

An Sealladh is situated in a quiet position in the village of Lochinver on Scotland’s west coast. The property makes an ideal base for exploring this part of the country including the North Coast 500 route.

Tastefully furnished throughout in a traditional style, the accommodation is located over two levels. On the ground floor the sitting room and kitchen both benefit from garden views, the sitting room has comfortable seating and a digital TV, and an open fire. The kitchen is spacious and has all the usual appliances and a dining table with seating for six, it also had direct access to the garden. The master bedroom with a king size bed, is located on this level and again enjoys garden views, completing the facilities is a nice bathroom with a roll top bath with shower over.

On the upper level the bedrooms have coombed ceilings and the owner has provided quality bed linen and towels. Both bedrooms enjoy views to the garden and over Lochinver. A shower room is also located on this level.  Outside the garden area is enclosed, ideal for those guests with a pet or with young children.

Lochinver itself offers a good range of facilities including a couple of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a Tourist Information centre. The closest restaurant to the cottage being the Lochinver Larder, well known in the area for their pies, they offer informal dining along with a selection of food to takeaway.  The scenery in the area is quite spectacular with Suilven, a policeman’s helmet of rock being particularly striking. At 2,389ft high the mountain is only advisable for the experienced; however there are numerous other areas to walk in the vicinity.

The Highland Stoneware factory is located close by, and is well worth a visit to see their hand painted ceramics being made, and perhaps even purchase a piece as a souvenir. For those looking for a bit of an adventure, Inver Cruises operate a ninety minute trip from the marina and give the visitor the chance to see the coastal scenery and local sea life.

An Sealladh is a very pleasant house, well equipped with everything you need for a good holiday, clean and with everything in working order - the kitchen is excellent in particular. There's plenty of space for a comfortable week - there were only two of us and the dog so we didn't even use the third bedroom! Located in Lochinver village, you have easy access on foot to local facilities - sadly the pub seems to have closed since we were last there - but this isn't a remote getaway as such as a result, but that hardly matters as a ten minute drive puts you in glorious surroundings. The only issue with the property is the front - I'm not sure who decided to tarmac over such a large area, perhaps it was used for parking a few vehicles at some point in its history, but it's not great to look at and rather precludes you from sitting outside and enjoying the view to Suilven and Canisp for too long of an evening after a long day's walking. It is at odds with the beautiful country surrounding Lochinver but if you're out and about all day as we were, you can just about ignore it! A pleasant stay, all in all.

Quiet location. Inside, comfortable and warm for a June holiday in variable weather. Excellent wifi. Some exterior work required on the property, but not affecting the interior. Prompt response to issues via e-mail to Wilderness Cottages, mobile phone signal at cottage is often non-existent (though payphone is available inside). Limited food storage space beyond fridge/freezer.

The cottage was cosy and comfortable. It is within walking distance of the village, so very convenient for shops and eating places. The wi-fi was excellent though the downstairs plumbing did make some weird noises! We had a lovely break and would definitely return

Cosy, well equipped cottage with ample space for guests to spread out! Beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels for really nice shower downstairs. Nice short walk to Lochinver and plenty of dog walking opportunities in the near vicinity. Lots of deer around too. Weather was brilliant, what more could you want? Loved it!

A really nice property and I would definitely recommend it. Has everything you need for a good self catering week. Views towards Suilven. Handy for the village - shop / pub etc. Great location for mountain walking ie Munros & Corbetts. Our Golden Retriever found the deer visits to the garden rather 'interesting'. Paths / parking area would benefit from some moss removal - a bit slippery when wet.

The cottage was clean, warm and in a great situation for walking to and around the village. It was also great for access to longer walks without having to get in the car - for example the beautiful track over to Achmelvich, the one from just over the one way bridge up the River Inver, and the walk in towards Suilven. Drive in any direction and the scenery is spectacular, and not far to the Quinag path........Conival, Ben More Assynt etc if you are a walker. Nice garden though it was pretty much an ice rink for the whole or our stay!

This is a warm well equipped cottage. Fantastic bath to soak away the aching muscles after hiking the majestic hills. Comfy bed with top grade bed linen to sleep restfully, renewing your energy for the next adventure. Excellent location to stop and take in the sights you might miss travelling along the wonderful NC 500. My only criticism would be the very small bath towels.
