St Andrews is a seaside town north east of Edinburgh, on Scotland’s east coast. It is a charming and historic town that attracts visitors from all over the world. Known worldwide as the home of Golf, the town has eight championship courses, the most recognisable being The Old Course which you can play, and has played host to some of the world’s finest golfers at the British Open Championship over the years.
The property is accessed via a private entrance and then down some steps. Throughout the owner has tastefully furnished it with an eclectic mix of furniture, and it is equipped to a high standard with wifi included. All on the one level the property consists of a lounge complete with comfortable sofas, feature fireplace, flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station. The kitchen is equipped with all the usual kitchen appliances and has a breakfast bar for dining. The property has two bedrooms; a master with a king size bed and the other set out as a twin. A shower room completes the facilities.
St Andrews University, founded in 1410, dominates the centre of town. The elegant, ivy-clad buildings and wonderful quadrangles and gardens have seen many famous graduates such as Prince William. Why not explore St Andrew’s castle, the now ruined cathedral and the adjacent church of St Regulus, where you can climb the spiral staircase to the top of the 108ft tower for outstanding views of the town and its surroundings. The property is an ideal choice for parents looking to visit children who are studying at the university.
There are also two great beaches in St Andrews, one being the spectacular West Sands, where the famous opening sequence of Chariots of Fire was shot. Other attractions include the Botanic Gardens, British Golf Museum, St Andrews Aquarium and the Byre Theatre, one of only four 5-Star arts venues in Scotland. The beautiful cobbled streets and narrow alleys are lined with fantastic shops, restaurants and cafes are ideal for a day or evening out.
