Victoria cottage is a traditional property situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Shieldaig. It enjoys wonderful views over the island and to the coast and the surrounding mountains. The location is an ideal base for exploring including the well known North Coast 500 route that passes the village. Further afield the Isle of Skye, Gairloch and Applecross are ideal places for a day trip.
The house has a traditional layout with the main living areas on the ground floor and the two bedrooms on the upper level. The majority of rooms all have sea views. The sitting room has comfortable seating and a Smart TV and is an ideal place to sit and relax after day of exploring. The pretty dining room has a dining table and seating for six, and the adjacent kitchen has all the usual appliances including electric cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Completing the facilities on this level is a utility area with a fridge/freezer.
On the upper level the bedrooms have traditional coombed ceilings and both have a double and additional single bed. The modern bathroom is also on this level and has a bath with a shower over. To the rear of the property the mature garden is set on a slope and has a table and seating. For the dog owner this area is enclosed, in addition there is also a large field adjacent to the garden that can be used by guests however this area is not enclosed.
The village itself has a good range of facilities including a well stocked local store ideal for essentials, the Shieldaig Bar and Coastal Kitchen restaurant serving fresh local seafood and more, and Nanny’s Coffee Shop, great for coffee, cake or perhaps lunch. There is something for everyone here, so if you like ‘life’ at a leisurely pace then enjoy the stunning views and nature in abundance, from seals to sea eagles, red deer and perhaps the occasional dolphin, there is nothing better.
For the more adventurous Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures, offers a range of activities on land and water including sea kayaking, canoeing, mountain walking and archery. There are many Munro’s to choose from in the Torridon area for those interested in summer mountain hiking.
An hour’s drive by the scenic coastal route will take you to Applecross. Stop in by the Photographic Gallery and the Heritage Centre. Fishing, climbing, nature and wildlife tours can be organised locally and not to be missed is a stop at the award winning Applecross Inn for lunch or dinner.
