Near this property...

Giusaichean, self catering holiday cottage, sleeps 4, log fire, pets welcome. STB 4*'s.

With its traditional white rendering and sash windows, Giusaichean cottage, a former croft cottage, is a spacious and comfortable holiday home. The inspired conversion of the former byre to the present lounge with a vaulted pine ceiling, pine floor and natural stone walls, gives breathtaking views of the mountains and forests through the cathedral window towards Loch Ness. This is highly desirable holiday accommodation for many people, including families and a first choice honeymoon destination. We welcome dogs, cats and considerate owners to Giusaichean.

The mature garden provides privacy and seclusion in a most peaceful setting - deer and buzzards being seen often, and the occasional pine marten. The great variety of plants are interesting and colourful at any season. Although the Farigaig Forest centre with its way-marked walks is only 2 miles away through the beautiful Pass of Inverfarigaig, many miles of forest tracks all around the cottage invite you to explore. The famous Falls of Foyers are 4 miles south in the village of Foyers with its Post Office, general store and tea room. The birdwatchers amongst you will be drawn to the local RSPB reserve at Loch Ruthven, breeding place of Slavonian grebes. Further afield are Culbin Sands for sea birds and Loch Garten where nesting ospreys may be seen at close quarters.

This was our third visit to Giusaichean and I am sure we will be back. The setting is beautiful and the garden is perfect for dogs - lots of places to explore and fully secure. The log burner in the lounge gives off lots of heat and satisfied my husbands need to make fire!

Lovely week relaxing the highlands, this cottage is lovely, I have been coming her for 13 years on and off. I used to bring my children to spend Christmas. It is great for dogs and really feels homely, log fire is a real treat if you don't have one at home and there is lots to see and do. Dores inn is nice, food ok but service could be better, which was a real shame. Beautiful glass blowing shop in fort Augustus you can watch the lady making glass ornaments, of course I had to bring home a little glass Nessie, some pretty little shops there also selling nice souvenirs to take home. I believe that the owners are coming back to live in this cottage soon, so it won't be available, so if you can get a break here before I would highly recommend. I still love the highlands and will be looking at alternative places to bring my dogs and grandchildren in the future.

What a wonderful, peaceful place to stay. We have two very curious dogs and so it was wonderful to allow them to roam the garden without them finding an escape route :) You have everything you could wish for in the kitchen and the place was spotless. Bed was super comfy too. The surrounding area is so beautiful and the nearby forest walks are superb. I walked for over 3 hours one day and didn't see another soul. If you want to get away from it all....but still have the comfort of WiFi if you need it...this is the place for you!!

We absolutely loved staying at Giusaichean! It felt like a home away from home. It has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable, relaxing stay. The location is peaceful and beautiful, and it is perfect as a base for taking day trips of your choice. We were there for 2 weeks and truly hated to leave. We were lucky enough to see the pine martens on several evenings, too! Lovely, lovely home.

What can be said that previous reviewers haven't already written? A totally relaxing getaway in the peaceful environment that is south Loch Ness. Walking trails, nature and plenty of opportunity to unwind and appreciate your surroundings. Giusaichean is well appointed and ideally suited to holidays in such surrounding's. Views from the cathedral window on the local wildlife can easily absorb, and if you are as lucky as we were in seeing the pine marten every day there is an added excitement

An AMAZING cottage. Being a very busy "London" worker, I didn't know what to expect from this picturesque cottage.. I had imagined being maybe a little bored. I was so wrong. The cottages placement up high above Loch Ness created the most amazing scenery of the mountains and scenery around it. That coupled with the most vivacious selection of fauna and flora make this destination, for me especially, unbeatable. Soooo much more to do than I've put down.. Go discover yourself!!!

I was taken to this wonderful cottage by the owner; there I spent 5 truley amazing days. I am 82 and have never seen such beautyful scenery all around me, so much so I felt over whelmed. The bed was so comfy, the loungs so delightful, the kitchen to die for and the wild life in the garden was abundant. Yes I am a friend of the owners but I'd say all of this anyway. God bless you Lesley-ann and Ashley for making your home available to others. Thelma

We had a fantastic and peaceful break at Giusaichean Cottage. The cottage is in a great spot and ideal for anyone who wants to get away from the rat race and relax in complete comfort. The wildlife we experienced in the grounds was amazing with regular visits from the Pine Martin, Hare, Red Squirrel and perhaps best of all the Badgers, not to mention plenty of bird life. We would recommend a stay at Giusaichean Cottage to anyone who has a love of wildlife and enjoys peace and tranquility.

Had two splendid weeks (OK the weather could have been more May-like than March-like but the snowy hills were a bonus) watching the birds and animals that share the land around this cottage. Plenty of things to do within 30 miles (further afield if you choose) or just sit and enjoy nature close at hand (Springwatch eat your heart out!). Very comfortable, interesting garden (the dogs loved exploring it) and welcoming tea & biscuits.

We loved the gardens and the wildlife was spectacular. We had a pine marten visit us, and saw deer and red squirrels. We also loved how peaceful and relaxing it was. We also loved the area around Loch Ness as the scenery was beautiful and the people really friendly. The only negative was the midges, but they were an annoyance nothing more.

Second time at Giusaichean and even better, despite the weather being mixed. We and the dogs love the garden and it was a delight to see it in summer. We stayed at Giusaichean at the beginning of October. We were looking for a complete week's rest. We chose this house because of its large, lovely garden which is securely fenced which is important as the holiday is just as much for our two dogs, Sam and Sox. It certainly exceeded our expectations - the house is lovely and the garden even better. Sam and Sox spent many happy hours just exploring on their own while we relaxed. Such a peaceful location but within very easy reach of good walks and places of interest. We will certainly return again soon, with a car full of treats for the birds who visited the patio and gave us so much pleasure.

We stayed at Giusaichean in February/March 2007 and felt we would love to go back again. Due a a family wedding we had to go later in September than previous years, but were certainly not disappointed as we had lovely weather, saw loads of red squirrels and enjoyed pure peace and relaxation. This cottage is very homely and comfortable, and you feel at home as soon as you step inside. Our dogs thought they were in paradise with the large garden to explore and cosy evenings by the log fire, although we didn’t really need to light it much.
The only problem now is which cottage to choose for next year, as we have also stayed at Marnie’s Croft, very different but equally good.
Booking a holiday with Wilderness is like contacting old friends, always helpful and efficient.

We absolutely loved this cottage, the lounge area is fantastic with the large glass gable end. The bird feeder on the tree opposite which is visited constantly is great if you like bird photography, you’ll get woodpeckers, finches, robins etc. I got some nice buzzard shots while walking back to the cottage from the walks at Inverfarigaig and with Loch Ruthven not far away there’s Slovanian Grebe’s and Ospreys if your really lucky. Our dogs loved the freedom of the garden and we loved not having to worry about them.
A small tip for anyone staying here in the summer, leave the windows closed in the bedrooms, bring a fan. I spent ages hoovering up midges that ’moved in’ to our bedroom overnight. That said we have already booked up another cottage for this year in the Loch Ness area and will definately be back to Giusaichean Cottage in the future.

We had the most amazing week while staying in this beautiful cottage. the facilities were very good and the scenary was second to none. the enclosed garden meant it was safe for our dog to roam free without fear of danger. The wildlife that called daily is a must for all animal lovers. During our stay we had a woodpecker which visited daily. One word of advice though make sure that you have enough food for the birds. There is some lovely places to visit in the surronding area far to much to fit into one week. We hope to come again next year and would strongly recommend others to visit aswell.

We have just returned from a lovely week in Giusaichean, a true home from home in a beautiful part of Scotland. The cottage is well equipped, warm and welcoming - and more than adequately dog proofed for our 3 labs. The views are just stunning, the wildlife abundent and the location so peaceful. Never before have we left a holiday feeling as if we are leaving home - but this time we have left our hearts in Glen Mor and cannot wait to return. We would also like to say how it is a pleasure to stay in a cottage where the owners care enough about the environment to encourage recycling, use of environmentally friendly products and continued feeding of the garden birds. Thank you and hope to return very soon

Our 3 miniature schnauzers - Maisie, Zeta and Kaska - thought the garden the most wonderful place to explore and we enjoyed sitting out (or in) and watching the flocks of birds that came to feed on the patio. The location was stunning, great for walkers and those who just want to get away from the hassles of our regular lives. Our four children and dog, especially the dog also enjoyed it.
