Collier is a countryman naturalist resident of South Loch Ness who
has been devoted to the wildlife and nature of Scotland for many years.
Here we have a journal written and updated weekly by Ray himself, which
makes fascinating and compulsive reading.
Loch Ness Region
Our quality self catering holiday cottages are situated in the naturally beautiful and undiscovered area of Scotland, just east of Loch Ness, known as Stratherrick, a region that stretches from Dores at the northern end of Loch Ness to Fort Augustus at the southernmost tip of the loch. This area of Scotland has been described as the Inverness “Lake District”, so numerous are the lochs and lochans in this region of the Highlands of Scotland.
We also now have several cottages on the north
west side at Fort Augustus, Lewiston & Drumnadrochit where you can
shop, visit Urquhart Castle visitor centre or the Loch
Ness Monster Exhibition. See our Map

Ness. The location in the Scottish Highlands is excellent for touring
northern Scotland and the West Coast, the Isle of Skye just 90 minutes
away.
An exciting development at Fort Augustus Abbey is providing some high

Self catering is now offered in Perthshire,
Isle of Skye, Kishorn, Applecross and our list of destinations is
extending to most regions of Scotland, but only as quickly as we can ensure
that the standards of cleanliness and value for money that you, our customers

About Wilderness Cottages |

We have a variety
of sizes from, small cosy cottages for 2, ideal for honeymoon
couples, and romantic holidays, or larger holiday cottages
to sleep from six to twelve.
For the larger parties perhaps a country house overlooking Loch Ness for self
catering groups of up to sixteen. Wilderness Cottages has a dedicated website
called Ample Cottages for our large
holiday homes throughout Scotland, check it out
for yourself if you are looking for self catering for a large family or group
holidays.
Self catering cottages provide excellent year round holiday
accommodation, many have log fires for instant romantic
atmosphere to an intimate night in. Log fires, romantic music, stunning views of mountains,
forest, and loch, this is what Scotland is all about! and please remember your pets are welcome
as part of the family.
 Wilderness Cottages have become a very popular honeymoon destination,
as well as a favourite with dog owners. Most of the cottages
have a pets welcome policy:- well, it is ideal countryside
for walking dogs! We're sure that you too, will fall in love
with this part of Scotland and will want to return time and
again, just as lots of our honeymoon couples do, year after
year, for anniversaries, often bringing their new families
with them.
