Tucked in amongst hillside trees above the shores of Loch Ness, Strone is a tranquil home to return to after an exciting day of exploration.
Unleash your inner Jacobite at the ruins of the amazing Urquhart Castle, only a 10-minute walk from the cottage. With panoramic views across the loch, the castle transports you back to a time when Scotland was a country fraught with clan warfare.
The accommodation is all on one level. The attractive sitting room has comfortable leather sofas and large windows looking out over Loch Ness - the perfect spot for Nessie hunting. You can step out through the glass door into the garden, complete with a seating area.
The kitchen has all the necessary appliances for whipping up a delicious home-cooked meal, and there is space for five to sit at the dining table.
The property has three bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a small single to the rear. There is also a separate shower room and toilet.
Parking is available for two cars on the driveway.
Despite Strone’s idyllic rural location, the bustling village of Drumnadrochit is on your doorstep. Affectionately nicknamed “Drum” by locals, the village has an excellent range of facilities, including a number of pubs and a Scotmid supermarket.
If you fancy eating out, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Fiddlers, the Loch Ness Inn, and the Italian Job all offer mouthwatering menus.
You can immerse yourself in the natural, cultural and legendary history of Scotland’s most famous loch at the Loch Ness Centre, or organise a cruise to spend time on the water. For fishing or e-bike hire, visit the Loch Ness Hub, a visitor information centre found in the main car park.
The area around Strone is packed full of fun activities and excellent day trip options.
Forty minutes from the property is the National Nature Reserve of Glen Affric, a truly stunning glen considered one of Scotland's most beautiful places. There are hiking paths here for all abilities, where you can take in waterfalls, Loch Affric or one of the many mountains that surround the valley. If you’re lucky, you can spot red deer, badgers, pine martens, or even golden eagles.
In contrast to the tranquillity of Glen Affric, the busy Highland capital Inverness is only a half-hour drive away. Here, you can spend the evening sampling the best of Scotland's whiskies at The Malt Room, taking in a theatre performance at Eden Court Theatre, or dancing to live music at MacGregor’s Bar or Hootananny.
The Inverness Castle Experience, a new visitor attraction celebrating the 'Spirit of the Highlands', is due to reopen in 2025.
A Good Housekeeping Deposit of £100.00 is required at the property.

The cottage was well kitted out in all areas. In particular the kitchen as we always cook our own meals. We rarely go out.
We felt the sitting room a bit "cold". A rug and some bright prints would have helped.
The cottage gives easy access to Glen Affric which was the main reason we hired it. But it also gives easy access to Inverness, Fort Augustus or Fort William if the weather is poor. It should be noted that the bus stop is 200 yards from the house next to Urquhart Castle. Saves using the car to these places.
Overall, very happy with our time in Strone.
Delightful place. On arrival, fresh flowers, a cake and a bottle of wine. The house was warm and comfortable, the location excellent. Did day trips to Glen Affric and the like.
The little cafe down the hill Cafe 82 makes fantastic food and actually has good coffee. Discovered that one a bit late
Due to a bit of movement, the door locks can be slightly annoying. Try lifting the door a bit - let turns easily then.
Really pleasant stay. Lovely sunny days, had an aurora one evening and the birds were just coming out after the winter. Peaceful, relaxing and a stone's throw from shops when you discover you need an ingredient. Can't recommend highly enough.
It always delivers this delightful cottage.
With good views due it's good location.
We will return.
We had a lovey stay at Strone. The spotless cottage is really well located and very comfortable. It has a very well equipped kitchen and everything else we needed (including a handy airing cupboard for drying off wet boots). We also appreciated the welcome package of milk and cake and wine!). We did a lot of walking around Glen Affric and Glen Cannich and south of Loch Ness. Supermarket shopping is available in nearby Drumnadrochit and very good fish and chips in Fort Augustus after a nice walk along the canal and lochs. We'd definitely recommend it and would come again.
I stayed in Strone at a lovely property managed by Wilderness Cottages, with three friends from London. We were only there for three nights but it was the most fantastic stay, with so many activities in easy driving distance - and the cottage was a perfect base, equipped with all the utensils and furnishings we could possibly want. We were even gifted a cake and a bottle of wine! The price was really competitive and the service was just above and beyond. Will definitely think of Wilderness Cottages if I visit this part of Scotland again.
The cottage was in a excellent location, absolutely spectacular veiws of Loch Ness. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
