Strone is situated on the outskirts of the popular village of Drumnadrochit. Built in an elevated position, this modern property is set in idyllic surroundings and overlooks Loch Ness. Equipped and furnished to a good standard, its peaceful location would make an ideal base for touring the Highlands of Scotland and the west coast.

The accommodation at the property is all on one level; the pretty sitting room with its leather sofas offers direct access to the garden and views to Loch Ness. The kitchen has all the usual appliances and a dining table and seating for five. The property has three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a small single to the rear. Completing the facilities is a shower room which has recently been updated. Outside, the property has a garden with seating, and parking is available for two cars.

The nearby village of Drumnadrochit (1.5 miles) has a good range of facilities, including a number of pubs, restaurants and a small supermarket. The village is also home to the Loch Ness Monster Exhibition, and just a short distance from the property, Urquhart Castle can be found. Further afield, the historic village of Beauly is home to a unique collection of shops, including the Old School, which sells an array of Scottish goods and the Corner on the Square, a licensed delicatessen and restaurant overlooking the square.

Within 40 minutes drive of the property, you will find Glen Affric, a National Nature Reserve, together with the other Glens of Cannich and Strathfarrar. These glens offer some of the most spectacular walking in Scotland, and the numerous forest tracks are ideal for exploring by mountain bike enthusiasts. The wildlife in this area is quite magnificent, red deer, golden eagles, badgers and pine martins, to name a few. For the golfer in the family, the nearby course at Aigas is a short drive away, further a-field the courses at Muir of Ord and the various ones in the City of Inverness are all worth a visit.

Strone offers a perfect base for exploring, with the City of Inverness with all its attractions just over 17 miles away and the Isle of Skye and the west coast within a ninety-minute drive. Travelling to Skye, stop off and visit Eilean Donan Castle near Dornie, one of the most famous of Scotland’s Castles and certainly the most photographed. At Kyle of Lochalsh, take the bridge across to Skye and visit such places as Dunvegan Castle or Talisker Distillery, or spend your time enjoying the magnificent scenery, including the Cullin mountain.

I stayed in Strone at a lovely property managed by Wilderness Cottages, with three friends from London. We were only there for three nights but it was the most fantastic stay, with so many activities in easy driving distance - and the cottage was a perfect base, equipped with all the utensils and furnishings we could possibly want. We were even gifted a cake and a bottle of wine! The price was really competitive and the service was just above and beyond. Will definitely think of Wilderness Cottages if I visit this part of Scotland again.

Basic but nice cottage clean and comfortable in a good location for exploring the area. The track leading to the property is very uneven and may cause issues with people with mobility issues. Parking is also quite awkward.

Property is in a great location but access may be difficult for some especially with mobility issues. Parking is awkward due to a very uneven driveway with a sharp bend which is poorly lit. Property was very clean upon arrival with comfy beds and plenty of blankets and towels. Received a welcome pack of wine, flowers, bread and milk which was nice. Little details missing such as a shower caddy, one mirror in the entire house located in the bedroom. We have stayed in many properties through Wilderness Cottages, this one is by far the least equipped. Overall we enjoyed our stay, guess we just miss the comforts of home.
