Best Features
Lochside property with views to Shieldaig Island and the sunset.
Village amenities within a short walk.
An excellent base for exploring the west coast and on the North Coast 500 route.
Great location, and well equipped.
Wonderful property, fully equipped that would easily accommodate six guests, although there were only two of us. Really warm and comfortable with a lovely space to sit and watch the loch.we did lots of home cooking and there wasn't a utensil we lacked! The views were superb, we saw eagles, seals and many other seabirds. The village shop was extremely well stocked and the Coastal bar really welcoming. Lots of local walks too! Only thing we felt it lacked was a wardrobe, so ended up hanging clothes on the back of all the bedroom doors ????.
This is the second time we have stayed at Pier head, the previous time was in September 2019, and we liked it so much we wanted to stay there again, but we weren't able to visit during 2020 or 2021 because of covid. Its in a fabulous location, right on the sea loch, with a beautifult view of Shieldaig Island, and excellent walking, rock climbing and kayaking all easily accessible.. Some of our team went swimming from the old pier in front of the house and were able to dash straight back in for hot showers. As a group with one couple and four friends, its good to have two twin bedrooms (many rentals only have double beds). We hope to return sometime!
Perfect in every way
What an amazing place! The house, the location, it's remote yes, but strikes a brilliant balance of being close to the village shops, restaurant, cafe and the rugged beauty of the north west Scotland. Local walks and hikes to the mountains are spectacular. The house is spacious for 6 people, big open plan kitchen/dinning area, all the utensils and kitchen accessories you will need. It's clean, comfortable, with amazing sunset views. I want to come back with my family there. A superb place to recharge your batteries.
This was our second time at Pier Head and that should tell you enough! The cottage itself is in a fantastic location with great views over the loch, (This year we were lucky enough to see dolphins), It's a great size easily accommodating six adults. Everything is finished to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.
Blessed by beautiful weather, it was so nice being back in Shieldaig. Swimming from the front door, climbing in the Torridon mountains, and cycling up and over the Bealach pass, It was just like doing our very own Celtman (but without the 3am start).!! Pie Head is such a comfortable and well kept house that it is a real pleasure to spend time relaxing with the family (as opposed to competing) there. This being our third visit I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back.
Beautiful location with a very well equipped, comfortable and well kept house. This was a second visit and we will book again if we go back to the sheildaig area.
Fantastic property, good location, a bit of character but plenty of space and all mod cons. You need to walk for a phone signal but really good wifi, essentialn in the highlands. Really happy we booked this property and very happy with service from wilderness.
Pier Head was an old fisherman's house, really fine rebuilt from 2011 - 2016. It's very comfortable, good equipped and beautiful furnished with more than enough space for a party of six, with a terrace and two well situated bays, from where you have a great view over Loch Shieldaig, the isle and the minch (as well from two upper ground bedrooms). Shieldaig is a lively, but never crowded place, with a small shop, restaurant and a bar. If you are lucky, you can enjoy local life music there. You will also find a lot of good walks from easy to tough grade in the area. Booking kajak- or boattrip is possible. Highly recommended!
Fantastic accommodation with modern facilities. Even had what we needed during a power failure in the town. Perfect.
We were so lucky to find Sheildaig, the perfect Scottish lochside village and of course to have Pier Head recommended by Wilderness Cottages - the ideal house with all comforts in a perfect situation. This accommodated our family of three adults and two children. Being close to the shop/pub and an excellent cafe was very convenient.
An extremely comfortable and clean cottage in an excellent position. The views to Sheildaig Island are fantastic and we were lucky enough to have some stunning sunsets whilst we were there.
