Bothy Cotain, by Applecross, Wester Ross

One Small Pet Welcome - Please phone to confirm

Bothy Cotain at Callakille is a beautiful, renovated croft cottage which is available to the self-ctering market for the first time. Situated eight miles north of Applecross village on the unforgettable Applecross peninsula, this is a particulary scenic stretch of the West Coast of Scotland.

The property has been lovingly restored. It is stylishly furnished and equipped to a high standard throughout, and completed with tasteful colours and lighting. At the same time, care has been taken to preserve the cottage’s Highland heritage with its traditional red roof, whitewashed walls outside, and retention of much of the traditional stone inside.

Welcome to Bothy Cotain

The main living area is open plan with a vaulted ceiling, and is positioned to enjoy the spectacular views. The contemporary kitchen is well equipped with all the necessary appliances. The sitting area has a wood burner and comfortable armchairs, ideal for relaxing in front of after a day of exploring. Adjacent to the open plan area there is a marble tiled bathroom with a walk in shower, and a cosy double bedroom, so designed that you can take in the beautiful sea views while lying in the charming cabin style bed.

Named after the delightful surrounding pasture of bog cotton that grows here throughout the spring and summer, Bothy Cotain (cotton) enjoys panoramic views across the Inner Sound to the islands of Raasay, Rona, the mountains of Skye and the Outer Hebrides beyond. The peaceful location is perfect for you to relax, unwind and restore, as well as perhaps sample some of the coastal and mountain walks and great sea and trout fishing. The beautiful sandy beaches at Sand and Cuaig are just a mile away, perfect for an evening stroll to take in the magnificent sunsets.

Attention has been given to meeting the maximum environmental requirements. Full insulation, oak floors and underfloor heating provided by an air-source heat pump ensures you are kept warm and comfortable whatever the weather.  There is a private water supply with a UV lamp and filtration unit which is annually certified by Highland Council.
