'An'Cromaich', is the Gaelic translation of Applecross, meaning 'The Sanctuary’.
Applecross is an area of outstanding natural beauty in a timeless place apart.
The feeling of 'having left the everyday world behind' is immediate.
Vindolanda is perched a hill looking directly to the sea, 300M away, and to the staggering Torridon Mountains, behind which the sun rises at the sets behind the inner islands casting cloud and uplighting clouds along the length of the Loch at which time the scene is flooded with hues of pinks and blues.
The expansive views are staggering and ever changing; new drama each time you gaze over it.
There is a beautiful safe sheltered sandy beach just a short walk from the front door, with superb rocks for exploring and entertaining children, both at low and at high tide.
The accommodation provides a high degree of modern comfort in traditional design, moreover, the cottage allows permanent contact to be maintained with the outside from anywhere within.

We had a fabulous time at Vindolanda. The cottage was charmingly decorated, spotless and with a particularly well- equipped kitchen. In addition, the views across the loch were incredible. We had our best holiday ever.
To be honest: We were rather shocked, when we arrived at the cottage! It looks really shabby from the outside and the house directly next to it stood empty and neglected.
Thankfully, the house improved inside, although, it really needs to be done allover, the wallpaper coming of in places for example.
The heating and shower worked well and so it was always warm.
The toilet refused to flush, but that was solved by the super- caretaker, who came over twice on a sunday to save us -Thank you very much!!
The views from the house are very nice.
The house is very bright and sunny.

Obviously you only publish positiv reviews which is a pity because it renders leaving reviews completely useless.
Perhaps I should add, that the Cottage had the best Choice of cooking spices I ever found in a holiday cottage and that the cottages was very carefully cleaned. But I still think, that your customers should know what to expect, when they book this cottage.

Dear Jill, Thank you for taking the time to provide further feedback following your stay. I also wanted to thank you for expanding on your original review. Whilst guest opinions and expectations naturally vary, we recognise your concerns regarding the property's external appearance and some aspects of its internal condition. The owners have reviewed your comments and are already addressing the maintenance items you highlighted. We understand your view that guests should have a clear idea of what to expect when booking a holiday cottage. Feedback such as yours is valuable because it helps us assess both the guest experience and how accurately a property is presented. Thank you again for your comments and for choosing to stay at the cottage.
Stunning views and lovely neighbours.
Clean and tidy house, a little chinzy with a not too comfortable sofa, also all windows are locked shut apart from the landing velux, but can't complain when your view is so beautiful. Also there's a perfect little beach near by. I would recommend it if you're not too worried about perfection just for its location.
Most grateful to owners and housekeepers for preparing cottage at short notice. Had a wonderful week here. A simple set up with everything we needed and the most glorious ever changing view.
