Sealladh Eabhal is a recently renovated traditional cottage which maintains the natural charm of a Hebridean island home. It overlooks a pretty waterlily loch which enjoys a scenic backdrop of mountains and sea. Located on the island of Grimsay, between North Uist and Benbecula, it is an ideal base for exploring locally and further afield. With a cafe and locally landed fish to buy close by, further facilities and the nearest supermarket would be in Benbecula, it should be noted that no shops open on a Sunday in North Uist. With restaurants & dining options available in North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist.
The property is beautifully presented and equipped to a high standard, the sitting room has comfortable sofas and a wood burner and the dining kitchen has everything that you would need. The property has three bedrooms, on the ground floor a double and on the upper level a further double and a twin. Completing the facilities is a bathroom complete with a bath and shower over and upstairs the double bedroom as an en-suite toilet. The enclosed garden has furniture, and a barbecue is available.
Grimsay is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the solitude and tranquillity it offers. It is equally a perfect base from which to explore the adjoining islands. Venture out and walk the Machair land with its abundant Flora and Fauna or stroll along deserted and beautiful white sandy beaches. In all of this, you will certainly have an insight into Hebridean life on these ‘islands on the edge’. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, and with little or no light pollution, the ever-changing night sky is awe-inspiring. Experience the twinkling of myriad stars or, if you are lucky, the Aurora Borealis in the northern skies.
Visit sites of historical interest like the Grimsay Wheelhouse, which dates back to the Iron Age, and the many and varied Hebridean artists and jewellery makers. You can take a cruise around the islands or further afield to Ronay, The Monach Isles or out to St Kilda. For walkers, there are many walks to enjoy, including some parts of the Hebridean Way, and for climbers, there are the challenges of Eabhal, Hecla and Ben Mor. Whatever you want to experience of the history, crofting and seafaring traditions of these islands, it is all accessible from Sealladh Eabhal.

We loved our stay at Sealladh Eabhal. It was an exceptionally well appointed, cosy and comfortable cottage. Perfect for our stay in November. Sealladh Eabhal is on the island of Grimsay which is well placed for easy access to Benbecula, North and South Uist. It really is the ideal place to stay for exploring the islands. We very much hope to be back in future. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
