Tor Cottage is a luxurious property located near the small village of Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. This striking property with its panoramic views was built by R House, based on the Isle of Skye and follows the lines of a traditional steading. Tor Cottage is positioned to take full advantage of the magnificent views that this part of Scotland has to offer, and is the perfect location for a romantic break or family holiday.
Contemporary in design and furnished and equipped throughout to a high standard including wifi, the property is light and spacious with the accommodation split over two levels. The house features the latest technology in building design, and this along with a wood burner in the sitting room, ensures that the house is warm and cosy no matter at what time of year you visit.
The downstairs features an open plan living area, with floor to ceiling windows, oak flooring and a beautiful wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and a gas hob and all the usual kitchen equipment, a utility room and shower room completing the facilities on this level. Upstairs there are two bedrooms both with sea views, the master has a king size bed and the second room a twin. Both are extremely comfortable and quality bed linen and towels are provided. A beautiful bathroom completes the facilities.
The garden is an excellent place to sit and relax and quality garden furniture is provided, many an hour can be passed by simply enjoying the views and the ever changing scenery. Tor Cottage will allow two pets, however guests should note that the garden is not fully enclosed. The owners live in a neighbouring plot and are on hand to ensure that you have a memorable stay and help if required.
The nearest village to the property is Tarbert (3 miles) and has a good range of facilities including local shops, two hotels, cafes, tourist office and a post office, this is also the arrival point for the ferry from Uig. The Island of Harris has some of the most outstanding scenery on the Western Isles, not to mention some world famous beaches including Luskentyre which is highly recommended for a day out.
With excellent walking and quiet country roads that are ideal for the cyclist, the island offers a large range of activities no matter what your outdoor pursuit. For the golfer the Isle of Harris Golf Club is well worth a visit and the owners do have a corporate membership that you can use. Other activities include boat trips, kite surfing, fishing or perhaps even a visit to the Isle of Harris Distillery, which has become famous for its gin.

By Ferry -
Caledonian MacBrayne www.calmac.co.uk operates direct ferry services from Uig on the Isle of Skye to Tarbert (1 hour 40 minutes crossing) or alternatively Ullapool to Stornoway (2 hour 30 minutes crossing plus a 45 minute drive to the cottage) Due to these ferries being extremely busy it is highly recommended that you book in advance.

Stornoway Airport (42 miles) has regular connections with Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow. These flights are operated by www.loganair.co.uk Once here car hire would be available.

A fabulous cottage in a wonderful location! Everything has been thought of, this is such a well designed property!
We've seen a Golden Eagle and Porpoises from the cottage!
The cottage was very acceptable but for four people it was not easy to watch TV due to the layout. No big deal really. Due to its remoteness from the nearest shops, a small welcome pack of essential items would be a good idea.
We had the most wonderful stay at Tor Cottage. Booking was easy, the details online were accurate and directions clear. The cottage was immaculate and every appliance, furniture item and equipment was top quality. The views from all front facing rooms were stunning whatever the weather. Ruth the owner was really friendly and proud of her holiday cottage and always enjoyed having a chat when we met. It was an amazing week

It's a beautiful property.
An outstanding house situated in an outstanding location. Looking through he panoramic windows, in the distance to the left are the cliffs around Dunvegan on Skye and in the foreground North Harbour, Scalpay. There's an uninterrupted view to the South looking down to the Golden Road and it's relaxing to watch the Uig/Tarbert coming and going. The house is warm and cosy and very well furnished and equipped. Owners, Ruth and John, are next door and are most helpful and accommodating. This is spotless house and well worth an enquiry if you're looking for a restful place to stay in a relatively remote setting - just 10 minutes from the ferry.
Faultless, what an amazing cottage. Amazing views you would never try of. Dolpins regular seem from the cottage, beautiful views across the island and onto isle of Skye, you can see 49 miles onto Sgurr nan Giliean amazing.
. Very clear and comfortable with everything you need, kitchen was well equipped Hosts were very welcoming without being intrusive, extremely knowledgeable of the island. Having traveled numerous Scottish islands this is one of the best places ever visited. We strongly recommend. Enjoy this wonderful island. Thank you
