Shore Cottage
We had a wonderful week in Shore Cottage and the beach to ourselves all week, it was bliss and so relaxing. Weather was perfect, cottage cosy and home from home and spotlessly clean. A world away from internet and work. Fantastic location and yes 4x4 transport for track is advised. We plan on returning and would like to book the weather too please! Thank you to the hosts & Wilderness Cottages.

Eilean Mor Cottage
Cottage was well presented and had everything we needed. Great views onto loch Dunvegan made this a very pleasant stay and good base for trips each day. Out with the cottage , highland council really need to spend some money on the single track roads as in disrepair in many areas. Certainly not for those with a smaller low profile car. Apart from that would highly recommend a stay at this cottage.
Cedar Cottage
Cedar Cottage is the most perfect cottage in an idyllic location. It seems remote but isn't that for from Forres Tesco. Red Squirrels in the garden are a delight. The cottage is immaculate and the welcome pack was lovely.
The Granary
Had a lovely stay at the Granary. The cottage had everything you needed and more. Really clean and comfortable. Weather was great. 5 minute walk into Drumnadrochit. Mairi the owner was really helpful and friendly. A big thank you to her for the extras and making our stay so good.
Seascape Cottage
Lovely, comfortable, well equipped cottage in fabulous position. Had a wonderful week in this remote, beautiful location and would highly recommend for a peaceful stay. Surrounded by a wide variety of birds, wildlife and masses of spring flowers.
Earth House
Delightful and as others have said quirky cottage, it was very clean and whoever looks after it does a thorough job. Views from the cottage were spectacular and we were fortunate as in the main had cloudless blue skies. Absolutely loved by the two dogs, Archie and Willow as they were able to play in the enclosed garden. Fortunately when we were there there were no sheep grazing along the shore line which allowed us even more freedom with them. On the whole though we found the area around Laide and Gruinard not great for walking dogs off the lead. We highly recommend the community woodland at Laide, the volunteers do sterling work even daily watering newly planted primroses so they wouldn't dry in the heat.

This is a superb holiday home. It's very comfortable and spacious for 4 people. The owners who live next door are very friendly. We were lucky with the weather we had and we were able to sit outside on the decking and enjoy the views and watching the red kites. There are lots of great places to visit on the Black Isle and further afield. We would recommend The Highland Farm Cafe near to Dingwall. Great food and views. We had such a comfortable and peaceful time here that we hope to come back.

Callakille
What an idyllic haven, a touch of heaven on earth. Callakille is one of the loveliest & most well appointed cottages I've stayed in, comfortable and light filled, with a bathroom that is simply perfect overlooking the ocean, cosy bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Peter was so welcoming, everything was spotless and many lovely touches throughout the cottage. Breathtaking views whatever time of the day you looked out, but sunsets from the bedroom windows were a highlight at day's end, as were the hours just sitting on a simple wooden bench on the cliff overlooking the sea. Definitely will come back another year! Simply magical
The Challey at Heathcote
Well appointed chalet with everything you could possibly want for a couple. Superbly comfortable bedroom, lovely bathroom and kitchen with everything you could possibly need and also very peaceful. Excellent location for visiting distilleries and indeed the woollen mill. Convenient for Speyside Way as well. Position on Map is incorrect it's beside the last house on the road above where it is marked by Google. It's not in the station car park. Highly recommend it as somewhere to stay. Will go back again.
Seascape Cottage
We had an amazing stay at Seascape....it's a piece of heaven. Tranquil, beautiful scenery and right on the cove. There is plenty to see and visit in the area and the owners go above and beyond expectation! Highly recommended recommended
Achbeag
We loved our stay at Achbeag... was a wee bit tricky to find initially using the postcode as it covers a big area! Very cosy and well equipped cottage. Quite a remote location along single track roads. The scenery is stunning regardless of the weather. It would make for an amazing location with bikes as well. The birds were singing like mad, heard a first cuckoo. Lovely wild flowers. Friendly neighbour. Little lambs. Applecross Walled Garden!!
Ceol na Mara
A beautifully situated cottage by the water's edge. Coupled with astonishingly good weather, it really was idyllic. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable, had all that we required for the week. We were just a couple with a small dog and it was delightfully snug for us. However if there had been another two guests, occupying the second bedroom, the lack of space to put our own things could be an issue. The people living nearby, in Ardarroch and Achintraid, were very friendly and welcoming. Particular recommendations would be the village shop/garage in Lochcarron and the Kishorn Seafood Bar, also the Arctic Convoy Museum (a 2-hour drive north but well worth the effort) and the Barn Cafe at Big Sands Caravan & Camping site to the west of Gairloch (food and service magnificent!).

Earth House
The Earth House is a very special place, a comfortable home from home with quirky architecture, unbeatable views, a garden full of wildflowers and your own, magic beach with pebbles and rock pools. The nearby post office supplied our immediate needs for food and drink, while the circular walk along the coast from Mellon Udrigle provided amazing vistas. We had amazing weather, which helped make our week extra-special. Our dog loved the enclosed garden with lots of nooks, crannies and hills to explore. None of us wanted to leave, and we will be back!
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Our 4th stay since 2023 in this wonderful cottage which is full of character and authenticity. Marvelous location to explore the area or take advantage of the cottage and its situation to rest and recuperate. It's so good we've already booked another week in August 25
Red Kite Log Cabin
Just spent 2 weeks at Red Kite, our 4th visit to this lovely cabin . The cabin was comfy, well equipped andimmaculate as always, a very generous welcome pack and fresh flowers left for us. Thank you. Paul and Margret are great hosts, available if needed but not intrusive. The cabin is in a lovely location on the Black Isle, plenty of places to visit on the Isle, Cromarty, Rosemarie, Avouch and of course Chanonry point to watch for dolphins ( hour and half after low tide is best) the proximity of the A9 allows you to travel further afield. Invergordon mural trail is amazing ! You'll be spoilt for choice of places to visit. Or just sit in the lovely well cared for garden and relax. Another lovely, relaxing holiday in a stunning location. Don't forget to look up too, Red kites are daily visitors. Looking forward to our next visit . Had a lovely time in The Granary. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped in a quite location. Very nice friendly hosts. Central to the area we wanted to explore. Would thoroughly recommend.
Ceol na Mara
Ceol Na Mara is a lovely cozy, comfortable cottage in the most beautiful location with stunning views over the loch to Skye and surrounding hills. It was the perfect base for our holiday. Communication with Wilderness Cottages and the owners was excellent. We had a wonderful holiday, thank you.
Seascape Cottage
Wow, what a stunning location in a peaceful, rural part of Scotland. Close to the coastal path but quiet and undisturbed with loads of wildlife to see. Easy access to several lovely little beaches. The cottage is beautiful - clean, modern, warm, well-equipped. Everything you could need is there and the owner couldn't be more helpful. Dogs are very well catered for with spare dog bowls and towels provided and they can run off lead down to the seashore, which ours loved! Sarah is the "Queen of the Welcome Pack", very generous and thoughtfully provided and we enjoyed lovely fresh eggs from her hens - a real bonus. We were lucky with the weather, had a super time and hope to go back.
Ardbeg
The photos of this cottage don't do it justice. The views are absolutely breath-taking. This, combined with the lovely interiors and general superb comfort, make it the ideal holiday let. We will be re-booking!
Log House
We had a wonderful time in this log house, it was exactly as described and we were really comfortable throughout. I would definitely recommend.
Leachachan Barn
Beautiful property in a superb location. The modernisation of the barn has succeeded in creating an excellent blend of old and new which also benefits from recently updated electrical goods, and a real careful attention to detail; all the items that one needs are fully provided for ( toiletries and kitchen ingredient basics ). The property was also spotless when we arrived so well done to the relevant support staff. The real star of the show is the location on a quiet Loch side road. The picture windows afford great views of wild life and of course the stunning natural beauty of the area. The Five Sisters of Kintail are in full view as is Bhein Fhada. Even better, walking/running on these hills is only a short drive away, and the Forcan ridge and South Shiel Ridge are equally accessible. There is almost too much to do with Skye only 40 minutes away, not to mention the renown Kyle of Lochalsh railway line which is of course absolutely superb. Need I go on. We loved the Barn....you really need to book it if of course you can find an available week!!
Earth House
Just had a wonderful week at the Earth House. Best view we have had in 30 years of holiday cottages! Lovely to experience living in this type of house having only seen one on Grand Designs. Every need catered for. The only thing we would share with other dog owners is that there are abundant ticks in the area so make sure you treat your dogs before your holiday.
Grain Store
Lovely peaceful location for Cairngorms walks. House was very comfortable and well equipped for a family of 4.
South Lodge
Absolutely stunning location! A peaceful week enjoying fantastic scenery and lots of wildlife! I visited this very house as a child when it was very basic! It is now a lovely, cosy cottage which we would live to return to. Ideal for nature lovers and anyone wanting to get away from it all!
Roseville
This is a great holiday rental. If you a re looking for a base camp to explore the area, this is it, look no further.
North Lodge
North Lodge was a very special place. The cottage was simple but very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. It's location was second to none and it was great having access to the castle estate and wildlife just outside the kitchen window. It would have been helpful if the dvd player was compatible with the TV, but alas it wasn't. Hopefully this will be rectified along with up to date house information and especially where to find the switch for the hob! We will be back.

White-Tail Croft
This is our second stay at this fabulous contemporary property located in a very remote area offering breathtaking views on the hills and the snowy Cuillins in the background. We enjoyed observing wildlife such as golden eagles, rabbits and the sheep grazing right up to the deck. One major feature of this place is definitely the sauna which is an ideal way of relaxing after a day out.
Port Elgol Cottage
Amazing! What a beautiful place. We arrived to sunshine and the first morning watched dolphins (porpoises?) swim across the bay as part of their daily commute. The weather was changeable but every day was like living in a postcard no matter rain wind hail or sun. The cottage was a perfect home from home. Everything we needed and more. A brilliant base for exploring Skye or for rainy days lighting the woodburner and enjoying a jigsaw to the sound of the waves on the beach. We could go on and on about how magical our time was.
Matheson's Croft House
A week of peaceful retreat, warm and cosy, quiet. I love the layout of the Croft house, location and views. I don't have any negative feedback, I will return.
Loch Cottage
Enjoyed our third visit to this lovely cottage, loved the new porch, a great addition and good for watching the varied bird life and the view.
North Lodge
Fantastic week at North Lodge- Everything worked first time. Lovely walks at sunset to watch the Guillemots fly in to the loch to roost next to the herons. We kept the feeders well stocked and were rewarded with red and grey squirrels and all the previously mentioned bids as well as two sightings of goldcrest. Great walks to the beach. Fish van at Leswalt on Thursday afternoon. Very comfortable house and beds. You tube and Netflix a bonus as well as the private gate next to the Lodge. We must return for Autumn colours.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Wow, what a gem of a cottage ! Set in a stunning tranquil spot on the Caledonian canal by Cullochy lock. The cottage felt like home from home, so comfortable and the best equipped kitchen in any rental we've stayed in. We spent many an hour in the sun room watching the many different crafts on the canal from canoes to Large cruisers. Every morning we spotted deer in the garden or on the tow path just outside the cottage. An abundance of different birds visited the bird table and feeders. We saw 3 different pine martens visiting the bird table daily. They even visited in the afternoons too ! Lots of choice for outside seating in the front garden and on the decking, spoilt for choice! Thanks to mark for sorting the heating for us. Weather was fab, high teens, sun and no rain. Lovely to speak to owner Michael who rang to see if everything had been ok during our stay. Special thanks to the ladies at Wilderness cottages, always so helpful. We hope to return again soon. I could quite happily live here.
Port Elgol Cottage
What a fantastic stay! The area itself is nestled away from all the touristy busy spots, but with enough people coming and going for the boat trips so you don't feel too remote. If you're looking to unwind then I honestly wouldn't bother with the trip to Old Man of Storr or Fairy Pools when you have unbeatable views from the garden! The cottage has everything you might need and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Just a heads up - the wee Elgol shop is gone so double check you have plenty food as the local CO-OP is half an hour away. Perfect wee getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life

Campbell House
Campbell House and Shieldaig made the perfect base for exploring the north west highlands. The house was warm and comfy and provided everything you needed with clear instructions for any queries. And the view!! We sat on the bench in front of the parking spot every day for sunrise and sunset.. so beautiful.
South Lodge
Firstly, South Lodge is in a beautiful secluded location. It takes a 20 minute drive down a single lane road to get to, you really feel away from the hustle and bustle. We loved watching the birds, listening to the dawn chorus, and seeing the pheasants. And two friendly sheep called by our garden most mornings. If you take the path right out of the cottage you can discover a magical labyrinth too! Unfortunately the serenity of this location was disrupted across the Monday/Tuesday of our stay, when extremely loud machinery started carrying out fencing work at the back edge of the garden. Some of the banging was so overwhelmingly loud it echoed throughout the cottage and you could feel the vibrations, causing distress to us and our dog. We were forced away from the property on Monday evening just to escape the noise. As upsetting as this was, I knew that the work was taking place beyond South Lodge's property and therefore assumed it couldn't be helped. However, I was later disappointed to learn that that this work had been arranged by the owner of South Lodge himself, who lives on the extensive grounds surrounding the cottage. It took me a while to get into contact with him because the contact info found in the "Guest Information" folder is outdated and directed me to the previous owner. She kindly passed on the number of the new owner. What upset me the most was that whilst the fencers themselves had been very kind, sympathetic, and profusely apologetic for the noise, the owner gave me a brief "sorry about that", then later told me that the surrounding land is a working farm and therefore "some farm action is inevitable" at times during the year. I was quite taken aback at the lack of empathy. Whilst I appreciate the necessities of farm work, at the very least could the owner not have had the courtesy to let us know that this would happen in advance? We had chosen South Lodge for my birthday retreat because it was advertised on their Facebook as a "secluded retreat" which "promises a tranquil stay". In reality, excessive noise like this will be "inevitable" at times during the year without warning? Perhaps the listing for this accommodation should be updated to include this information. Thankfully our remaining days offered the peace we had hoped for. We would love to return to South Lodge sometime, but we would be hesitant as to what kind of work might be scheduled at the time of our stay.

As per the information emailed with the directions this included the correct contact details of the owner but we are sorry to learn the 'Guest Information' booklet in the cottage was out of date. We have raised this with the owners and they have now updated the details and they apologise for the overisight. We have forwarded your comments regarding the disruption to the owners and they have asked that we pass on their sincere apologies, the work carried out on the farm estate was urgent and could not have been avoided, but accept that some prior notice may have been helped alleviate the situation.

What an amazing holiday we have had. Peace, outstanding beauty and wildlife. Our 8 year old boy wanted to live there FOREVER and our dog lived his best life. We will definitely be returning!
