Brendon has created a really special little escape in the Scottish Borders. It has been tastefully decorated, full of life, personality and character to explore inside. It is a short term let that has clearly been created by someone who understands what a guest needs when visiting such a remote location. Repeatedly over the stay, I was impressed at how we didn't want for anything, as it was all already there; whether that was blankets for the chilly evenings, a large torch for evening ventures outside, a cheese knife, board games and newspaper for the log burning stove. Down a long farm track, the cottage is placed perfectly at the edge of working farm, on the border of a large pine forest; the front windows perfectly framing the mountainous hills of the Borders from inside. Inside the cottage is super cosy and warm, providing refuge from the harsher winds we had in early April. Its location provides a perfect base for walks into the hills and forests, and the quaint cottage garden offers up a more secluded space to enjoy the outdoors. The collection of books, CDs and games provide a wealth of things to do whilst holed up by the fire and it is by far the best stocked kitchen of a short-term let, allowing us the option of cooking for ourselves or going out to eat. By far the log burner was a highlight of the stay, with a fair few hours each evening spent basking in the warmth, watching the flames licking over the ample logs that are provided. More than anything Brendon was so lovely and easy to communicate and plan with. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will be sure to return!

Sunroom perfect for views with your morning coffee. It has all you need inside and is spacious. Owners were quick to help if any help is required. Inverness Asda 30 mins away for shopping and Daviot woods brilliant for the dogs and a tasty cafe 30 mins away. Not far from Fort Augustus and lochness . We will be back

A fantastic place to stay! We recommend Coorie for the ones who really want to get away from it all. Approx. 5 hours drive from Edinburgh airport brings you to the beautiful and remote calm of the south of Skye. Enjoy breathtaking views towards Knoydart and Mallaig from the huge windows in the living room and kitchen. Views to the sea from your bed! The little stove makes it cosy but the cottage is warm anyways. It is an hours drive into the Cuillins but we also recommend the walk to Point of Sleat. Coorie has everything you need for a week including a very well equipped kitchen. Be aware that the freezer is only a compartment in the fridge. We'd definetly come again!

We have been coming to Charleston for the past 15 years, sometimes twice a year. It is like a home from home for us. There isn't anything we need as everything is provided. The cottage is always immaculate, as are the grounds outside. The views are spectacular and at night outside we were visited by deer & hares in the garden. The stars were out a few nights and that was beautiful to see. We book as soon as we return home as it is so popular, I expect a lot are returning customers so that is proof of how special it is.

We stayed at this beautiful holiday home during the first two weeks of November. We saw all of the weather over the two weeks and loved every bit of it - mostly because we could cosy down in the lodge during the stormiest days. We saw the aurora on several nights (visible through a camera) and the bird watching around the holiday let was fabulous. It is the only time I have ever watched a hooded crow playing catch with a pebble, right outside the lodge. Lots of birds prey, very close. A gorgeous base for adventures, highly recommended.

Everything you could need is provided, and the underfloor heating keeps the place wonderfully warm. There is always a lovely welcome pack with tea and biscuits, and this time, for New Year, we were even welcomed with pralines and prosecco, real luxury living. The cottage is spotless, absolutely nothing to complain about. The owner, Gill, is always helpful and ready to assist immediately. This cottage truly deserves 5 out of 5 stars. The surroundings are fantastic, with plenty to do. A short ferry trip takes you to Glencoe and Fort William, and another nearby ferry brings you to Mull. There are also beautiful walks in the immediate area, and you can step straight out of the garden directly to the water. It is very peaceful here, and even the local supermarket is conveniently close. In short, we once again had a wonderful holiday and were genuinely sad to leave. We managed the Range cooker with ease and our Christmas dinner turned out perfect! There's so much to see and do even in December and a little gem we found was Coral Beach near Plockton, look for the pink coral on the beach, its beautiful! The cottage is delightful and comfortable in a beautiful location. The views are amazing and the whole area is breathtaking. We did have guests in the form of 3 field mice and this is clearly a regular occurrence as there were a number of humane traps provided. This didn't bother me as I live in the countryside and this is happens. You just have to keep food well shut away and check for mouse droppings. In November many places are closed or have limited opening hours but we can recommend the Applecross Inn (saw an otter while we were sat outside), Nanny's at Sheildaig and the Spa at Lochcarron. The applecross pass is a must see and you will need to use it really to get to Lochcarron. On our travels in the area we saw numerous red deer, 2 sea eagles, a seal, a pine marten and of course the otter. Would have no hesitation in coming back to the area, though if you have an electric car you cannot recharge at the cottage and there is no local charging point as yet. We recharged at Kyle of Lochalsh.
