Shepherd's Cottage is a newly completed luxury renovation of a former 19th century cottage, which is available to rent for the first time from the 1st October. Situated in a secluded position the property is ideal for those guests looking to get away from it all in a unique and remote setting. The location offers a perfect base from which to explore the west coast and the Isle of Skye which can be reached within an hours' drive. The magnificent views are a real selling point with the Applecross mountains to one side and the Torridon mountains on the other.
Throughout the property has been tastefully and stylishly furnished and the owners attention to detail is evident throughout. The renovation is the perfect combination of the ultra-modern with the traditional classic, and the specification used is of the highest quality and the entire contents, including all furnishings are brand new.
The cottage is detached and set over two floors with the main living accommodation being open plan. At the centre of the house the sitting room is furnished with comfortable sofas, a wood burner and a large 50” flat screen TV, an ideal place to relax after a day walking in the surrounding hills. The kitchen is well equipped with all the usual appliances and adjacent to this is the dining room which offers direct access to the garden. The master bedroom complete with a king size bed is located on this level, as is a family bathroom with a bath and shower over, and a utility/boot room with a tumble dryer.
The upper level has two further bedrooms, a double and a twin and again these rooms have been stylishly furnished, completing the facilities on this level is a shower room. All the rooms benefit from magnificent views to the surrounding hills, which is a constant reminder of the special place that Shepherd’s Cottage is. Outside the enclosed garden is perfectly safe for the pet owner or for children to play although there is a small stream running through it. The owner has even provided a beautiful summer house complete with seating and some garden games.
For the outdoor enthusiast or wildlife lover the cottage offers the perfect location with walking direct from your door into the hills, and the local deer are regular visitors and can be spotted grazing in close proximity to the house.
The small village of Kishorn is approximately four miles away and has a small shop and the Kishorn Seafood bar, a better selection of facilities being available in Lochcarron which is nine miles away. Further north Applecross is twelve miles away and the picturesque village of Shieldaig is just six miles away, and offers a small supermarket, the Coastal Kitchen Restaurant and Bar, and Nanny's for a light lunch.
The property is located 1km down a private track and must be driven with care, and a 4 x 4 vehicle is preferable but not essential, except in winter conditions.
Two well behaved pets are allowed at the property, and the garden is fully enclosed with deer fencing.
The water at the house is from a private supply, this is filtered and treated.
Mobile phone reception is available at the property as is full broadband Wifi access.
A Good Housekeeping Deposit of £300.00 is required at this property.
We enjoyed our stay at Shepherd's Cottage - great views, very quiet location, well furnished and comfortable house. We particularly liked sitting in the garden watching the local birds. A good base for exploring the area - not far to Lochcarron. Only odd thing was to have two single quilts on the main bed but I expect that is because I had requested non feather duvets.
Beautiful location, fantastic reception, every little detail is thought out in the cottage. The enclosed garden is fantastic for the dogs to run around in. The area is remote and ideal for getting away, walking, photography, reading and relaxing - I only have praise for the whole experience.
Spent a fantastic week at Shepherd's Cottage this month. What a beautiful setting. The cottage itself is superb with first class facilities. The surrounding countryside is breath taking with an abundance of wildlife. We took our two dogs who happily dried off in the utility area before entering the cottage. They loved the large garden and surrounding walks. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in and will definitely return (availability permitting). Highly recommend.
