Cnoc Ard is a traditional property located in the coastal village of Scourie in North West Sutherland. The village itself offers a small range of facilities including a couple of small shops, a petrol station and a local hotel. The property is situated in a quiet location and would make an ideal base for exploring this part of Scotland including Handa Island, a reserve run by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
The property has been tastefully furnished and equipped to a high standard. The living room and kitchen are open plan. The living room has modern leather sofas and a flat screen TV with DVD and also benefits from a wood burner, the exposed stonework being a particular striking feature. The kitchen has all the usual appliances and a good range of crockery and equipment.
Further facilities on the ground level include a twin bedroom. The main bathroom is also located on this level and has a bath, ideal for relaxing in after a day walking in the surrounding hills. Upstairs guests will find two further bedrooms, both of which enjoy views to the front of the property. The bedrooms are identical in size and both have a double and a single bed. A shower room completes the facilities on this level. The property has a small enclosed garden to the front of the property and the owner has provided seating and a barbecue.

Clean and comfortable accommodation in Scourie with everything we needed including a log burning stove after a particularly wet walk. Scourie itself has a Spar - with a bar and a TV and basic bar food - next to the campsite, and a food truck down by the beach - Crofter's Kitchen - where you can buy gourmet food freshly sourced from the North West Highlands to eat outside there, or take back to your accommodation.
We enjoyed a lovely week at Cnoc Ard. Very comfortable house with everything we needed over our stay. Scourie and the surrounding area provided us with plenty to do and see despite the unseasonable weather. We managed to squeeze in a walk from Achfary to Kylestrome between worst of the weather fronts.
A warm, welcoming, comfy home in a fabulous location. The house had everything we needed. My only slight reservation is the size of the living space for the number of beds. We were only two humans and two dogs and we filled the living space! Fine if you can be out during the day. Overall, we loved it and I hope to return.
This was a 5 star holiday home excellent in every way spotless and very well maintained thanks.
We spent a very comfortable week at Cnoc Ard. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard. Basically we could not fault it. Wi-fi strong and reliable...kept the teenager happy. 2 bathrooms a real bonus. Great location to explore the local area. Highly recommended.
Practical and relaxing accommodation with wonderful views. Everything just felt so easy and loved the location just a short walk away from amenities.
Great cottage in perfect location to travel north and south and get out in the Scottish wilderness. The cottage was really nicely kitted out and was warm and cosy. We absolutely loved it. Kitchen is well kitted out and secure garden for the dogs. Only criticism is a number of the lightbulbs in the bedroom for use were missing or blown when we arrived. This cottage is the perfect retreat. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
Very well equipped, and cosy cottage. Even though the wind roared we were warm and comfortable inside! Books, DVDs and jigsaws available, as well as Wifi and good mobile reception which we hadn't bargained for, being in a remote part of Scotland. Excellent fish and chip van operates twice a week and fish van calls once a week so we were able to enjoy really fresh fish and shellfish.
Had a great week at Cnoc Ard Everything you need for a comfy and cosy stay in this wonderful park of the UK. All the appliances/TV etc. are all modern and easy to use. Kitchen all fully kitted out. Great shower and hot water on demand(unlike many other cottages) but still keeps the traditional feel of a 'croft' dwelling. Easy transaction and instructions made booking and arrival/departure a breeze. Some amazing sights, Sandwood bay, Old man of Stoer. Easy walk to the campsite bar and hotel if you want to eat and drink out. To get away from it all in comfort and character I give Cnoc Ard 5*
We had a great week at Cnoc Ard. The location was perfect with easy access to the beautiful beaches and walks of Sutherland. The cottage was cosy and comfortable with lovely views and a log burning stove for chillier nights. Would highly recommend.
Comfortable cottage in great location. Weather was good too so all made for excellent holiday break.
Very good accommodation in a superb area; remote and quiet, yet within walking distance of Hotel/bar and also a Spar shop for the papers! The cottage is very well equipped with all amenities and everything is of good quality (I imagine because the owners stay there themselves too occasionally). Beds are quite comfy and no noise in the bedrooms/upstairs even when wind & rain is battering from the Atlantic one night! Would stay again there again, as the surrounding area is beautiful and fantastic beaches nearby.
