Shore Cottage
A good week despite mixed weather. Cottage was warm and comfortable, unpretentious. Fabulous location. 4x4 is essential, track is very rutted and difficult to negotiate in wet conditions. Experience would be improved if the outer area of garden could be cleared a bit, particularly to remove the invasive giant rhubarb (gunnera manicarta?) which with the bracken impedes the sea view and makes it hard to turn a large 4x4 to get out again.
Stablemans Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is excellent, well equipped and in a great location. We've booked it again for a week in February 2024
Jura
Lovely cottage and can see from previous reviews owners have really listened and changed things. Shower is new and fine, not massively powerful but expected for the area but not a drip as previously stated. Nice blankets for when it gets a bit chilly. Clean and comfortable and for the price charged, good value for money. Beautiful setting, great neighbours, lots of games to play. We took our own but didn't need to as there was plenty. The cottage now has WiFi. Perfect base for exploring. Loved the secret little beach. My only changes I would recommend is a new mattress, the one in the double room is very uncomfortable and the electric heaters, I really think these would look better updated and on the wall with timers. The cottage does heat up nice and quickly but there are heaters everywhere. Other than this the cottage has everything you could possibly need, it is pretty remote so perfect for a quiet break, the area is breath taking. Would recommend for the price paid.
Seal Skerry Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Seal Skerry Lodge, it is a fantastic location. Be prepared for the single track roads, we were very happy with the remoteness but it's a fair way from shops etc. Also the wee track from the road to the house takes some negotiation, it is steep and gravel but if you don't stop you'll get up. House itself is lovely, nice size, really beautiful views, well stocked kitchen and appliances (we cooked every night), comfy furniture, lovely bathrooms and a comfy bed. Bit weird not having any blinds or curtains but that didn't bother us, apart from the farmer coming down the hill on a quad bike one day while I was upstairs naked... Oops. One thing that annoys me is the "dog friendly" thing, people advertise as this then it's no dogs on the furniture, no dogs upstairs, on the bed blah blah blah. We rescued our dog 10 years ago and for that period she has laid on the settee every day and night then slept in our bed, how is she supposed to understand that suddenly she can't, not happening. We pay a pet premium every time..... What for? My only other criticism, and I hate saying this, is the cleanliness, not bad but could have been better, lots of heavy dust under the couch and beds and bits in the cutlery drawers, I have still given it 5 stars as we had such a good time.
Sixgeary
This was our second holiday in Sixgeary and it was as wonderful this time as last time. The house is beautifully situated overlooking the sea and glorious coastline. Inside it has been tastefully modernised and very well equipped. Lovely and warm with underfloor heating, great when the weather is not so good. We had a great week and hope to return.
Coorie
This is a lovely cottage in a very beautiful area of the Aird of Sleat and with amazing views over the Sound of Sleat. It is in a quiet area along the peninsula, just perfect for relaxing and wildlife watching.
Seascape Cottage
My experience of using Wilderness Cottages to book a Scottish cottage was simple and efficient. The cottage was as described and to a high standard. Would certainly use Wilderness Cottages again when looking for accommodation in Scotland.
The Coltsfoots
Spotless and well equipped log cabin in a wonderful location. Hosts are so welcoming and friendly its an absolute delight to stay there.

Learag
Learag is a lovely property, the owners have thought of everything. The house was spotless, the property is even nicer than the photos. There is lots to do in the area. Would definitely stay again.
Shellach Cottage
2nd time we have stayed here. Location is brilliant just outside Lochcarron so easy walking distance to the shop and cafe/eateries. Property has everything we needed, very comfortable. Even saw a deer in the garden. Would recommend staying here. Only negative was the mattress which could do with changing, but no other fault at all.

Charleston
After a slight hiccup on arrival which was quickly rectified by the company and also the owners we enjoyed another great holiday at Charleston. We look forward to our next visit

South Lodge
Oh. Wow. We arrived, feeling really stressed - after a tough few weeks. Within minutes of arriving all the stresses just started melting away. This is a truly peaceful place - and the wildlife is magical. Lovely walks from the Lodge. If you want to go out for evening meals or pop to a shop - it's not for you ???? - it is truly remote. We didn't do half the things we planned because we couldn't drag ourselves from simply gazing out across the loch. The Lodge itself is cosy and comfortable - and how we laughed - never have we longed for a garden parasol in a Scottish cottage in September ????????????. The weather was epic.
Callakille
The house is in a very peaceful spot and there is a great view of the sea and the islands. While the surrounding landscape invites to explore, the house offers a cosy retreat to relax and unwind. The rooms are all spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Every window offers a different beautiful view. There is everything you need for a longer stay and the fireplace makes for cosy evenings. The books and maps provided were welcome reads and helped us decide which hiking routes to tackle. All in all, we found it very hard to leave this beautiful place and we will definitely be back. There is still so much to discover.

Seabank Cottage
What a great base Seabank cottage made to explore the surrounding area ie Skye Applecross etc. Set in a lovely village with all the amenities you could need. Even some finer dinning at Rock villa. We spent time using the binoculars provided either looking out from the kitchen or the patio area just to the left of the cottage. All in all a great holiday.
Cala
Amazing place, amazing location, fantastic holiday in a beautiful part of the world
Ceol na Mara
We all enjoyed our stay at Ceol na Mara and having plenty of sunshine and very little midges made a great difference. It was fascinating to watch the deer on the loch shore one morning - they showed no fear of humans and dog.
Stoer Lodge
We had a wonderful family week in Stoer Lodge. We were so lucky with the weather and we found the lodge so comfortable and clean and in a great location to explore this beautiful part of Scotland! It is quite special to be able to wake up and go down for a dip in the sea or sit out watching the sea and wildlife. It was a great recharge for our busy lives. We would love to return. Thank you!
Toberaie
Been wanting to stay in the Nethy Bridge area for quite some time, and we finally succeeded. The location is breathtaking, we spotted lots of birds of prey and deer in the garden. Those mountainviews are stunning!! We were lucky to have summer weather, so every night we enjoyed the setting sun from the backdoor. If only there were a large window above the dresser in the dining room, with a frame around it, you'd have a unique painting every time you looked. We appreciated the size of the comfy double bed and the lamps scattered around the house, which made it very cosy. We didn't put on the hot water, we took a shower or used the kettle to get warm water. With the warm weather we had, we could have appreciated an outside table for al fresco dining. The large information map is also a bonus, the owners have done a lot of effort to write down the history of the place. Would recommend this little gem to all who, just like us, like to be remote and in a quiet, rural setting. Thank you for taking care of and letting us enjoy your unique home from home.
Leachachan Cottage
Absolutely fabulous house - luxury standard. I would recommend this property. Wonderful views right on the loch side. Well equipped kitchen and great hosts. Pine martins are gorgeous, if a little cheeky
Log House
The Log House was pleasant enough in a quiet location. The Log House does have a problem with rodents, probably mice. Shouldn't be a complete surprise due to the location. I would fix the ventilation in the bathroom as the mould was increasing throughout the 2 weeks. Dogs are fine, however if you allow dogs, you'll need removable covers to remove the smell of dogs, not everyone is a super fan of wet dog smell. So good, however needs Improvement.
Wilderness Cottages Replied...
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Log House. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents we have contacted the owner to discuss your feedback. The owner has discussed your issues with the housekeeper and this has now been dealt with. As per our terms and conditions we ask guests to not allow dogs on the furnishing however I'm sure you agree this is difficult to manage. Update - The owners were very concerned of the reports of rodents and engaged Pest Control to check and asses Log House over a period of time.. Their findings were that there was no signs of rodent activity. The owners will continue to monitor and would always encourage guests to make them aware of any issues, should they arise, during their stay.
The Coltsfoots
We have had the most wonderful holiday at Coltsfoot Cottage. We have stayed there 4 times now and intend to keep on going back there. The setting is perfect, so quiet and peaceful. The host Gordon is very welcoming and lovely to talk too. We saw red squirrels around the log cabin, a fox and heard owls at night. Plenty of bike rides and walks in the hills around Fort Augustus. The cabin has everything you could need and is very comfortable. We love sitting on the veranda in the evenings relaxing and watching wild life. Perfect holiday.

Braehead Steading
We had a lovely holiday at Brae Steading. The house was clean and it had everything in it that we needed for our stay. The size of rooms downstairs and bedrooms meant we had plenty of space for our group of 7. There was a lovely big dining room and a lovely dining room table for us to sit together for our evening meal. There was plenty of plates etc in the cupboards and we liked the idea of the 2 fridges and used them both. We liked the huge space we had in the garden and enjoyed sitting outside the patio doors. It was good being so near the trails. Our group enjoyed their holiday and plan to return.
Jura
Not exactly a 'wilderness' cottage, but a cottage in a small hamlet. This is not a problem. The cottage is cosy and warm.
Rhundunan
Location, location, location, I couldn't fault it. The views were so good that I spent many an hour just looking out of the many windows that had a view. Clearly the house was designed taking the views into consideration. The interior has been done in a very high specification including surround sound system and a Tv that allows you to stream your own programmes should you find the time. The master bedroom has a large bed. I am 6'5'' and felt comfortable. Again views were incredible. 2 good size bedrooms and 1 2 bunk beds. Ideal for 3 generations. With the 3 Chimneys restaurant at the bottom of the driveway we spoilt ourselves. Choose a sunny day to go to Neist Point, go early and take your time. Stop and study the surroundings. We saw Dolphins, seals, gannets etc. Coral beach is stunning. Go beyond the beach to find a magnificent headland, the water was crystal clear. Skye Wildelife tours were superb. We saw Otters, Seals, Deer, Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles. Such good value. Sea fishing off Meanish Community Pier allowed us free meals of Mackerel and Pollack. We will definitely be going again

Charleston
Lovely spacious cottage in a great location with stunning views. So peaceful and relaxing. Lots of great walks on the doorstep. The weather was perfect for hill walking. Great enclosed garden for the dog and a well equipped cottage. We enjoyed eating our evening meal in the dining room drinking in the spectacular views over towards Fort Augustus. A memorable, relaxing holiday had by all. Thoroughly recommend a week away here.
Braehead Steading
The accommodation we stayed at the Braehead Steading was perfect for our needs and was so comfortable. Easy access to the town and perfect for discovering the surrounding areas. A great holiday and rest.
Braehead Steading
We had a wonderful stay in Braehead Steading, it's a lovely house with a very high standard of facilities and plenty of space for a large group. The area is amazing with wonderful views, great walks and local amenities in Ballater. Will definitely return.
Cedar Cottage
Had a wonderful break at Cedar Cottage near Forres. House was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Garden was lovely. The forestry commission road to cottage makes it more interesting. Loads of birds at the feeder. Loved seeing woodpecker and owl up close

Braehead Steading
We had a lovely stay at Braehead Steading. The house although large felt very warm and cosy. It was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need.
Stable Cottage
Lovely cottage (large), well equipped and warm when needed. Wonderful woodlands and walks and well situated to explore the area. Could have done a good vacuum to defeat the spider webs and dust though. Most importantly do not attempt to drive to the beach unless you have a 4x4 as treacherous for low cars, walking is recommended as it's beautiful.

Shellach Cottage
Enjoyable week staying in a lovely old cottage. Views to the front are beautiful overlooking Loch Carron (and the occasional dear). 15 minute walk to the village with a selection of cafes and restaurants. The cottage itself is oldy-worldy with a few quirks but everything you need is there.
