The Studio is a beautiful and stylish property located just six miles from Dunvegan in the small township of Balmeanach. Sleeping four this contemporary house was designed by the award winning Dulachas Architects. Its location is an ideal base for exploring with the Skye Bridge only one hours’ drive away and Portree the islands capital a 30 minute drive.
Tastefully furnished and equipped to a good standard throughout, the accommodation is located on the one level. The main living area is open plan with striking floor to ceiling windows which offer awe inspiring views to the Cullin Mountains and the ever changing sky. The main living area is open plan; the kitchen is well equipped with all the usual appliances and has a large island unit for dining, the sitting area has a comfortable sofa and leather armchair, both ideally positioned to view the large wall mounted TV. Throughout the house has electric radiators and in this area a wood burner, ideal for relaxing in front of after a day exploring. Direct access is available to the garden and to the large decked area to the front.
The property has two bedrooms; the king with its en-suite is located to the front and offers access to the garden and decking. The en-suite is certainly a ‘room with a view’ and has a large walk in shower. The twin bedroom is located to the rear of the property and has an adjacent shower room. Both bedrooms have good quality bed linen and towels are provided. The Studio does have an enclosed garden and parking is available for 2-3 cars. The decking does have a small drop to the garden, which makes it unsuitable for children under five, however babies are welcome and a travel cot and high chair are available.
The nearest town to the property is Dunvegan, which offers a few restaurants, petrol station, shop and local bakery. On the outskirts Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan MacLeod for the last 800 years, is well worth a visit, as is the pretty coral beaches. Further afield Portree is the main population area on the island, the pretty harbour is particularly striking with its coloured buildings and from here boat trips can be taken. The town has lots of interesting shops selling the best of the local manufacturers and many choices for lunch or dinner.
The island offers some of the most dramatic scenery in Scotland, well worth a visit are the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr and the spectacular Trotternish Ridge. Neist Point and its Lighthouse can be found at the most north-west point on the island and the sunsets here quite spectacular. Basking sharks, dolphins, seals and whales are can often be spotted along with a large variety of birds, including the majestic Golden Eagle.

Wonderful accommodation in a fabulous setting. Large space with lots of natural light and wildlife out of the window. Very well equipped for self catering. Thank you.
My sister and I came up for a wild swim tour of Skye and stayed at the Studio. The weather was wonderful and the location was perfect for venturing out. We were so impressed with the view, the gurgling burn right below us and how quiet and peaceful the place was. We were also really impressed with how well stocked the place was! It really had everything we needed (from dish clothes, oil, salt/pepper, dish/laundry soap to books and a yoga mat!). It's well laid out and very nicely decorated. There is even a local fish and chips food truck at the end of the road (very pleasant surprise after a long day of walking and swimming). We would happily rebook for another visit.
Fantastic modern house. Very well equipped with beautiful views. Hope to return again in future.
