Cedar Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at Cedar Cottage. It is immaculately presented and spotlessly clean with lots of special extra touches. The owners should be very proud of themselves. It is much better than the photographs. The garden is a really decent size and is totally secure. Take lots of bird food and red squirrel food. We had two red squirrels every day. I got good close up photos of them just using the car as a hide. So many different birds on the cottages own bird feeding station. Yellowhammers which we don't see at home were a treat. Would highly recommend.

The Orchids

The Orchids is a gem of a holiday destination, and the perfect location to fall in love with the Isle of Skye. The house is rural but not remote, and has been done to a high standard, with the space for guests to spread out in comfort. Filled with games, books and entertainment even if it's a bit wet and miserable out the house is still a great place to be. I spent my time in front of the windows reading, marvelling at the view and watching for wildlife (dolphins in the bay!). We did have a minor issue with the hot water, but the host repaired it quickly and it did not impair our stay in the slightest. Not only would I recommend this house, but I would stay there again myself.

Excellent cottage. Very comfortable and with excellent facilities. Very peaceful setting but near enough to the village for a gentle stroll. Owners very helpful and friendly. We would certainly recommend Coltsfoot to our friends and family and will look forward to visit again.

Plodda Falls Lodge

We really enjoyed our week at Plodda Falls Lodge, a house steeped in history but very sympathetically modernised. Everything has been made available for your comfort and relaxation. The house is tucked deep into the countryside which appealed to us and the walks straight from the back door were wonderful. The Lodge is hosted by Jenny who was welcoming, friendly, very knowledgeable about the local area but did not intrude in any way beyond what we wanted. We arrived to find a home made cake which was much appreciated after a long journey.

Swallow Byre is a wonderful place to stay. So warm and cosy, it has everything you need on holiday. Jane the owner is lovely and made us feel so welcome. We truly enjoyed our week there. It was handy for lots of walks and the scenery is breathtaking. Lochinver is nearby and there are some delicious eateries there. We will use Wilderness Cottages again in the future as they have a great range of cottages and locations. Their website is easy to use and we received reassuring notifications after we had booked.

Seal Skerry Lodge

There is no doubt that Seal Skerry Lodge is in a wonderful location and the views amazing. However, the property could do with some TLC, a memory foam topper on the mattress would make the bed more comfortable along with a little more equipment in the kitchen as you need to cook most if not all meals here as location is remote. It would be much better if a vacuum cleaner was available and some modesty blinds in some areas, especially the downstairs bathroom. Other than that we enjoyed our week in the house, it was warm and comfortable but not homely. We have stayed in the area over ten times as my husband is a keen fisherman and the fish certainly didn't disappoint.

And the welcome pack on arrival was very much appreciated, as were the delightful home made scones. All in all, highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay at Oak Cottage. It was very comfortable, warm and had all the amenities we could wish for including good kitchen equipment, bathroom products, great drying facilities etc. Always nice to have the welcome items too, along with lots of useful local information, selection of books, maps and brochures. The wildlife garden and pond outside was great for watching birds and red squirrels too. We would certainly want to stay again if back in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at North Lodge, I enjoy Wildlife Photography so was in my element with all the birds and squirrels that came into the garden. The birds went through a full container of nuts a day so be sure to take plenty with you! The cottage itself had everything you would want, it was very well equipt, maybe a more powerful shower but that would be being picky. I would like to have had more information about where we could walk around the grounds. We didn't go far as I felt like I was intruding. Places to see Portpatrick (a must), Port Logan, Lady Bay, Corsewall Lighthouse (lovely lunch in the Hotel) Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, Sandhead Bay is a lovely walk. We tried to get to the private beach at Larbrax but sadly the road was flooded at the bottom and my car wouldn't go through and I lost a trainer trying to get around as it was boggy! It looks a really lovely beach if you had a 4x4. Provisions wise, Morrisons and Tesco are in Stranraer where there are also a few good take away', only takes 10 minutes to get there. All in all a lovely quiet place to stay

What a beautiful house. The views out of every window are amazing. The internal decor really striking. Kitchen area is small - might be tight for 6 people if you are cooking from scratch. However it is really well equipped and again the views make up for it. The whole house was well equipped and really stylish. Lovely quiet spot and we were really sad to leave and would certainly recommend. This is our third wilderness cottage this year- all different- all excellent.

Our stay at Ardrannach on the Isle of Skye was fabulous. The bungalow is situated in a perfectly rural and beautiful location, it has an amazing view to enjoy, and is also only a short distance from Portree. The farm which it is near the bungalow is run by a lovely family, who are delightful, and for us cityfolk, seeing the sheep being gathered in and the cattle grazing nearby just added to our wonderfully restorative and relaxing week.

We had a wonderful week at Shore Cottage in September. The situation of the cottage is excellent with lovely views of the beach and the sea. In clear weather you can see lighthouses flashing on the Irish side.

What an utterly beautiful house in a stunning location! The property was far beyond our expectations, was superbly decorated and equipped with everything we could need for our week's stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The area provided plenty to do and see within a short driving distance and we'd recommend eating at Cafe Lephin in Glendale and The Old Schoolhouse in Dunvegan. The seal boat trip from Dunvegan Castle was a highlight as was the walk to Neist Point and up to the Quiraing on the Trotternish Peninsula. The Fairy Glen was magical in the mist and the beach a Loch Brittle was not to be missed either. All in all, a most wonderful week and a delightful property with some amazing views. We loved it and would highly recommend The Orchids as a great place to stay
