WOW ! what a charming comfy cottage right on the shores of Loch Kishorn . The views from the cottage are stunning. We watched traffic going up through the Applecross mountains from the garden. The Cuillins right in front of you on Skye. Perfect ! Loved to sit and watch the ebb and flow of the tides, so soothing and relaxing. Seals were regular visitors as were the group of stags that passed by every day right in front of the cottage. The cottage was immaculate, felt like home, loved it . Thank you for the welcome gift wine and cake. We were lucky enough to meet the lovely owner Florence and her husband as we were leaving. Sad to leave but hopefully will be back . Perfect . Also thanks to Judith, Julie and Jane at Wilderness Cottages who are always so helpful and efficient.

South Lodge

Such a lovely location. Our stay was marred by the very uncomfortable bed which made getting a good night's sleep impossible. We enjoyed the walks right from the door of the cottage, especially the one looking over to the mountains of Jura. If you're going with your dog, do make sure that they're up to date with their tick treatment. We needed to remove several ticks each day from our dog, including sometimes even when she'd just been out in the garden. We had one very still evening when we were bothered by midges in the evening, but were otherwise untroubled by them. The neighbouring house was having building works done during our stay - hours of drilling, sawing, banging and hammering so close to the house meant that we had to go out, even though we wanted to just read in the garden and enjoy the view.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on your stay at South Lodge, we are sorry to hear that you experienced issues that caused you to leave a 2 star rating. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents, we have contacted the owners to discuss your feedback. He has spoken with the neighbours and they are currently building a shed and were sorry for the disruption it caused you on the 2 days of your stay, when they were there carrying out the work. The owner had not been aware of any issues with the bed before your review. He will assess the bed when the next guests leave and rectify the problem.

Coel Na Mara is an idyllic cottage on the shores of Loch Carron. Very well equipped, warm and welcoming, especially the wine and cake left by the owners! Lots of walks and points if interest in easy reach, especially Plockton and Skye. Wildlife round the cottage in abundance. There was a very minor problem, the owners were instantly accessible, and speedily put matters right.. I have been using this cottage for many years, and we certainly continue to do so

What a fantastic cottage!! As soon as we walked through the door, we were blown away by the view from the window. The facilities provided were excellent and the sauna was just what we needed after a day's walking. Portree is only a short drive away, where you can stock up with provisions or have a meal. Although the weather wasn't great while we were there, the changing views over the river were spectacular and really made up for it. It's funny how worried you get when you don't see the sheep and lambs for a while!!! The icing on the cake was seeing an eagle on the side of the road as we left on the final morning. Overall, a wonderful cottage in a great setting.

Stunningly beautiful & relaxing - a true escape. Can run out of superlatives to describe the unique setting of beach lodge- it has continued to hold its magic even after many visits over 30 years! Interior cosy and comfortable plus good quality sleeps! & good equipment& facilities Only negative is that the track down from the farmyard has deteriorated greatly (uneven camber/potholes/loose stones/ridges) & definitely requires driving with caution preferably with a 4 wheel drive to navigate - agree low suspension vehicles would have difficulty or damage

White-Tail Croft

We had an excellent stay at White Tail Croft 10th-24th May. We enjoyed perfect blue skies for 2 weeks and views of the Cuillin from the cottage and indeed from anywhere on the whole island with the fabulous weather. We eat outside every evening. White Tail Croft is the best equipped cottage we have stayed in during our numerous visits to Scotland and we visit a lot! It was so great to have great quality kitchen equipment, even Le Creuset tea and coffee pots and excellent corkscrew . Following our enquiry with Wilderness Cottages the owners provided a Ninja Stack Air Fryer which was so much appreciated and we used this daily . Other owners should take note and provide their guests with the kitchen equipment they would have at home as everything was thought of. Cushions and beach towels were provided for outside. The bath towels were excellent quality too. A very ECO property from the solar panels to car charger ( which was invaluable) another item other owners should take up) We went on the high speed aqua - marine boat trip from Elgin and saw dolphins, porpoise, seals, puffins and a minke whale that surfaced right in front of the boat. The lambs and rabbits kept us entertained at the Croft and we saw white tail eagles soaring high above. Thank you to Julie at Wilderness cottages who was excellent and to the owners for providing a home from home stay. I can also recommend the local walk up the aerials on a clear day . You can see for miles and miles, the Cuillin, Old man of Storr etc

Cottage was well presented and had everything we needed. Great views onto loch Dunvegan made this a very pleasant stay and good base for trips each day. Out with the cottage , highland council really need to spend some money on the single track roads as in disrepair in many areas. Certainly not for those with a smaller low profile car. Apart from that would highly recommend a stay at this cottage.

Delightful and as others have said quirky cottage, it was very clean and whoever looks after it does a thorough job. Views from the cottage were spectacular and we were fortunate as in the main had cloudless blue skies. Absolutely loved by the two dogs, Archie and Willow as they were able to play in the enclosed garden. Fortunately when we were there there were no sheep grazing along the shore line which allowed us even more freedom with them. On the whole though we found the area around Laide and Gruinard not great for walking dogs off the lead. We highly recommend the community woodland at Laide, the volunteers do sterling work even daily watering newly planted primroses so they wouldn't dry in the heat.

What an idyllic haven, a touch of heaven on earth. Callakille is one of the loveliest & most well appointed cottages I've stayed in, comfortable and light filled, with a bathroom that is simply perfect overlooking the ocean, cosy bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Peter was so welcoming, everything was spotless and many lovely touches throughout the cottage. Breathtaking views whatever time of the day you looked out, but sunsets from the bedroom windows were a highlight at day's end, as were the hours just sitting on a simple wooden bench on the cliff overlooking the sea. Definitely will come back another year! Simply magical

Ceol na Mara

A beautifully situated cottage by the water's edge. Coupled with astonishingly good weather, it really was idyllic. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable, had all that we required for the week. We were just a couple with a small dog and it was delightfully snug for us. However if there had been another two guests, occupying the second bedroom, the lack of space to put our own things could be an issue. The people living nearby, in Ardarroch and Achintraid, were very friendly and welcoming. Particular recommendations would be the village shop/garage in Lochcarron and the Kishorn Seafood Bar, also the Arctic Convoy Museum (a 2-hour drive north but well worth the effort) and the Barn Cafe at Big Sands Caravan & Camping site to the west of Gairloch (food and service magnificent!).

Beautiful property in a superb location. The modernisation of the barn has succeeded in creating an excellent blend of old and new which also benefits from recently updated electrical goods, and a real careful attention to detail; all the items that one needs are fully provided for ( toiletries and kitchen ingredient basics ). The property was also spotless when we arrived so well done to the relevant support staff. The real star of the show is the location on a quiet Loch side road. The picture windows afford great views of wild life and of course the stunning natural beauty of the area. The Five Sisters of Kintail are in full view as is Bhein Fhada. Even better, walking/running on these hills is only a short drive away, and the Forcan ridge and South Shiel Ridge are equally accessible. There is almost too much to do with Skye only 40 minutes away, not to mention the renown Kyle of Lochalsh railway line which is of course absolutely superb. Need I go on.
