Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House) is a contemporary house, designed by award winning architects and finished to the highest standards.  Beautifully situated, the house is the perfect base to explore the Isle of Skye and can be found in a quiet spot on the east coast of the island, six miles from the capital Portree.

The house has a large open plan living area, two bedrooms - one with en-suite shower room - a family bathroom and a separate utility room. The double-height living space incorporates the kitchen, dining and sitting areas and enjoys views to the surrounding hills and woods.  A log-burner provides heating and a focal point, and the French doors give access to a timber deck.  The kitchen has integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob and the living space has a big comfy sofa and two armchairs.

Downstairs, the double bedroom has a king-size bed, wardrobe area and an en-suite shower room with under-floor heating and a walk-in shower. Upstairs is a twin room with views towards Raasay and a built-in wardrobe.   The family bathroom also has under-floor heating and a double ended bath with shower over.  The small utility room has a washing machine and provides additional storage. Outside, there is parking for two cars, a timber deck with seating and a barbecue and a large private garden with access to the river.

Wine, coffee and biscuits are provided as a welcome pack, and you’ll also find guest soaps by Isle of Skye Soap Co. in each of the bathrooms and a basket of logs by the stove.

Skye is a popular tourist destination and offers a wide range of attractions and outdoor activities for all.  There is much to explore in Braes itself with seaside walks, hill walks and a wealth of wildlife and heritage to discover.  Deer, eagles, otters and other wildlife are commonly seen from the house.  Further afield, Portree provides a range of shops, bars and restaurants and Sligachan is an ideal place to walk in to the Black or Red Cuillins.  The rest of the island is readily accessible.

We had a wonderful week here . The house is quietly situated four miles down a single-track road which leads only to the end of the peninsula. The house is very tasteful and modern , well equipped , comfortable with a pleasant outlook. Thank you for the generous welcome gifts and full supply of t-rolls , d/W tablets etc .

We had a wonderful stage at Tigh-na-Craobh. It is in a lovely peaceful position and very central for exploring Skye. The kitchen was well equipped and very organised and clean. We enjoyed cooking there each evening. The bathrooms were also very clean and the showers had plenty of hot water. The whole standard of the house was very impressive. We arrived late and had informed Wilderness Cottages. It was great to arrive after midnight with the lights on and welcoming us in.

The Tree House was extremely clean and modern. No carpets and large windows. The hosts did everything to make guests feel comfortable. A lovely welcome package with shortbread and wine, games, a wonderful wood stove and a well equipped kitchen. And well located, near Portree but in the countryside and near the see. We loved staying at the Tree House.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would not hesitate to return or to recommend it. The location is peaceful with pretty, gentle views and it is well situated for touring the rest of Skye. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable, though with mild, sunny weather we didn't put the wood burning stove to the test. The lack of curtains in the living area was initially off putting but as we got used to it we wouldn't have wanted to block out the views with curtains. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay - we'd love to come back.

Had a great week in Skye, accomodation was first class, all amenities where catered for and the location was so nice. Local beaches were explored and enjoyed, actually saw a deer walking past the cottage. Could not fault the area for a base on the island. Would love to stay again ????

Despite the April weather we had a lovely, cosy time at the house. It was very well equipped and had a few essentials to get you started off (loo rolls, dishwasher tabs, logs etc), as well as a little welcome gift. Needed to use the hot water booster for 4 showers in the morning, but that was all great once we'd worked out how to use it! Beautiful area, lovely views and lots of walks nearby, with Portree easily reached for shopping and eating out.

The house is lovely, comfortable and in a stunning area overlooking the Isle of Raasay. It is quiet and peaceful, yet only about 20 minutes drive from Portree. The only negative I have is that there is some minor maintenance required - to replace loose bathroom tiles and re-wax the kitchen work surface.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and to give your feedback. To confrim, the owners have now completed the minor maintenance work mentioned.

The Tree House is a wonderful place to stay. It is very comfortable, warm, spacious and light. I saw 4 eagles circling up high one evening as well as deer and a heron all from the living room window ! The location is brilliant you can walk just along the road to a beach and up the hills behind the property where there were lots of wildflowers. It is also centrally located to tour Skye.

A superb cottage in a great location, near Portree but in a peaceful site in the Braes. We really loved the modern, clean but very comfortable accommodation and it provided everything we needed (2-4 adults). A great base for exploring Skye, especially North and Mid areas; Trotternish, Old man of Storr, Dunvegan, Edinbane and Talisker areas and we loved the Faerie Pools near the Cuillin. Absolutely loved this cottage and the holiday on Skye!

We were very cosy and comfortable in Tigh-na-Craobh. I very much appreciated the the modern living, eating and cooking area and well equipped kitchen. No need too eat out when there is so much to be enjoyed in the cottage. A super cottage in a fabulous part of Skye with lots of great walking from the doorstep.

Thanks very much for a wonderful stay at the Tree House. We found it to be very comfortable and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and both bathrooms were great - big rain shower and a huge bath! Everywhere is decorated to a high standard and the place is very well situated for exploring the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we are ever lucky enough to return to Skye we wouldn't hesitate in coming back to the Tree House

Tigh na Croaobh was a very lovely base for our first time on Skye. The house was warm and welcoming, well laid out and had had everything we needed. Absolutely fantastic to sit in front of that picture window with the stove lit - whatever the weather! Had reason to contact the owners, who were super friendly and dealt with our query.

Had a fabulous 2 weeks in Tigh na Craobh. Perfectly situated to explore the Isle of Skye and up to the usual Wilderness Cottages standard. 15 mins drive from Portree and 10 mins walk from the sea. Would recommend this property for a holiday on Skye.

The Tree House is a fabulous holiday retreat. Spacious, yet cosy, it is in a great position to enjoy Skye. Walks from the doorstep, or a short drive away. Try the Oyster Shed for fresh lobster & chips, close to the Tallisker distillery! We'd certainly return to The Tree House.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Tigh-na-Craobh! The house is beautiful, well appointed, very comfortable, and so handy for everything on the island. Considering the quality of the accommodation, this represents truly excellent value for money. We couldn't recommend it highly enough; we'll definitely be back!

We were absolutely delighted with Tigh-na-Crobh. The cottage setting is perfect in terms of its proximity to stunning coastal landscapes and to Portree for shopping. We loved the design of the building and the set up of the rooms to maximise comfort and relaxation. I needed to contact the owner for a couple of very minor things and response was speedy, friendly and helpful. We would most definitely return here and we very highly recommend this rather special house.

Wonderful place. Highly recommended. Unlike many cottages, the Tree House is modern, beautifully designed and finished to a very high spec throughout. It has a well stocked kitchen, an efficient log burner, a nice TV and speakers to plug your phone into, a massive couch to lounge on. It is altogether extremely comfortable. We visited in November, and it rained most days, but we were happy to be tucked up cosy and warm inside. The location on a tiny little road is also very secluded and quiet. Skye is, of course, beautiful.

A wonderful weeks stay in Tigh-na-Craobh.The house had everything we could want and was a great place to come back to after a days walking. It was situated well for the Co-op in Portree and its lovely restaurants. We did a boat trip from Portree and were rewarded with a sight of a white tailed sea eagle and dolphins. Unforgettable holiday cant wait to return.

Sitting here on our final night at Tigh-na-Craobh we are feeling a little sad. Jim & Anne-Marie, you have created a little slice of heaven. The views, the design, the layout, the interior (exactly as we'd've done it ourselves), the egyptian cotton bedlinen, the sound system, the champagne flutes, the dishwasher, your lovely housekeeper Nikki who dropped by with a playpen/stair gate for Alasdair and a few toys she had around...thank you for. Looooovely week away from the city. Can we come back in October please? Thanks a million! A, A & A x

One of the most amazing places we have ever been! The tree house itself is beautiful and the log burning stove gives it a great atmosphere. The only issues were the electricity went off several times on our first night which was scary and the shower in the ensuite flooded the bathroom and was not hot. We thought this was due to the solar panels at first however the other shower was hot so couldn't of been. However it did not ruin our stay and I'm sure these issues will be sorted out soon. We did the 2 local beach walks which were lovely and Portree was nice with a few gift shops. The scenary is amazing, panarmaic views everywhere! We will definatley be returning!

Really relaxing break in a fantastic home. It's really well situated to be off the beaten track but not too far from civilisation (Portree) for you to get shopping or go out for a meal. Given that's it's nearly in the centre of the island it means you can use it as a good base for exploring. The house itself is really modern and super warm - the log burner does a cracking job of heating the place up very quickly as do the other heaters. It had all the equipment you need for a comfortable stay. Beds were comfy and the clever layout of the house with its separate bedrooms and bathrooms would mean kids and parents could have their privacy but never be too far away. The wifi was great for streaming TV or films on wet days and cold nights when you just wanted to snuggle up by the fire. Only minor niggles were a lack of dishcloths and a dishwasher that was empty of both salt and rinse aid upon arrival with no supplies to top it up with. Little things in the grand scheme of things but a tad disappointing nonetheless. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a very clean, modern and comfortable home. We'd have no hesitation in recommending this place to friends and family and would happily return.

We spent a wonderful week in April at Tigh-na-Craobh with wall to wall sunshine, great food and great friends. The house is perfectly located in beautiful Braes, close enough to Portree for essential supplies but far enough away to enjoy great mountain and coast views. The house is nicely designed; and simply decorated and furnished in a contemporary style. We particularly liked the open plan kitchen/living room. Will definitely rent again at some point in the, hopefully, near future.

Had a great week's holiday at The Tree House. New property with everything you need. Well located, very clean and cosy. Nice to relax on the big comfortable sofa in front of the wood-burner after being out walking all day - only difficulty is trying to stay awake !! There is a nice desk/study area which is handy if you unfortunately need to work while on holiday (our kids were studying for exams so it came in handy !).

The Tree House on Skye is a five stars experience. Location is great, not to far from Portree (supermarket within 15 minutes by car) but still you retain your privacy. The house in itself is perfectly built and offers all comforts: it is warm and full of light during the day, cozy at night (the stove!); the kitchen has every possible item you might need, and all of good quality; the beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are great! Overall, a great place to stay on breathtaking Skye!
