The Granary
Stayed at this wonderful cottage in the October half term, what a great find . While it may not be wilderness, it is very peaceful in situation but we liked the fact you could walk into the village for amenities. The cottage itself is just fabulous. The quality of furnishings are some of the best compared to other cottages we have stayed in . The place was immaculate, every attention to detail had been made . Everything was there that youd need for a home from home stay . It was super warm and cosy . Drumnadrochit is central to all places to visit, north or south . If you book this cottage you will not be disappointed. We've stayed in many over the years and this one is by far one of the best
South Lodge
Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Spotted otters every morning. Arrived to delicious scones and homemade jam. Only drawback was the road into the property. A robust vehicle is definitely required.
Drumfad Barn
Unfortunately, this property is no longer with Wilderness Cottages.
Leachachan Cottage
A beautiful cottage in a stunning location with amazing views. We loved the wildlife which visited the cottage too. We'll definitely make return visit. Just to note, there is no television, which didn't bother us, as we had the pine martens for entertainment. Haste us back.
North Lodge
Lovely, quiet, cosy cottage in spectacular surroundings. Thoroughly enjoyed our week at North Lodge. Lovely walks around the estate, plenty of birds around the cottage. No squirrel sightings unfortunately but did see deer. Cottage was well equipped, with very comfy beds. Only issue and its being picky, with the weather turning colder, would be the draft coming in through the back door and the draft excluder provided is a couple of inches too short to stop the draft completely. Other than that, no complaints at all. Close to Stranraer for anything needed. Port Patrick is only 15 mins drive and the Mull of Galloway lighthouse is worth a visit. We would definitely book to stay here again.
Ardbeg
We have booked again for next year. This will be our 4th visit to Ardbeg. Guess that is all that needs said. Highly recommended.
Charleston
This is our fourth time staying in this cottage and it wont be our last. It was wonderful as usual. Cottage is well laid out and has spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. If youre looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday, this is the one to choose.
Cedar Cottage
We had a lovely stay at Cedar Cottage & highly recommend a stay at the cottage. We will be looking to book again.
Shore Cottage
The cottage and its location provided the ultimate in getting away from the world and turning our backs on tech! Very comfortable spaces and the cottage is a really nice temperature despite it being cold outside. Grading as a 4 as a couple of things could do with being updated but nothing major or anything that would put us off from staying again.
Earth House
The Earth House blew us away. We absolutely loved it and 2 days into our week there we'd already booked up a fortnight the following autumn! Super practical, a fabulous location and phenomenal views......Great kitchen too.

Cala
Our second visit to this excellent architectural home in a stunning location. Absolutely perfect for totally getting away from a busy World, enabling us to slow down and relax. Taking a trip to Sandwood Bay really added to the sense of remoteness and it was a real shame we ended up leaving a day early, but that was due to Storm Babet. I suspect we will return again!
Learag
A fantastic house in a fantastic, peaceful location. It feels remote but provides quick and easy access to whatever amenities you need and wherever you wish to visit. Very well equipped, furnished to a high standard and spacious. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Dozens of Munros and Corbetts are within an hour's drive if, like us, you love hill walking. Lots of wildlife in the surrounding areas and even a Red Kite circling above the garden!
Easter Knocklea Cottage
Fantastic cottage in an idyllic location. You absolutely need a robust vehicle in bad weather however we were in a 4 x 4 so ok. Our dogs were safe around the cottage off lead and the surrounding area is incredibly peaceful. Neighbouring cottage did not overlook ours despite reading this in other reviews! One small issue was the beds were quite small for us as we are used to a super king however all bedding and towels provided were spotless as was the remainder of the cottage. Kitchen incredibly well equipped and owners have thought of everything including a Tin with first aid kit items in downstairs bathroom. Overall a very pleasant stay and housekeeper Mahri was very helpful and returned an item of clothing in the post that we left behind by accident. Thank you Mahri! And thank you to Selma the owner too in checking the cottage was accessible due to recent flooding before we set off on our long journey, very responsive and much appreciated. Would highly recommend and consider returning ourselves again in the future. ????
Tor Cottage
Tor Cottage is in a beautiful location, with stunning views and is very well equipped and maintained. We had a great week. Ruth and Rob are very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our week in Tor Cottage. I'd also say thanks to Wilderness Cottage, it was so nice dealing with real, helpful people (unlike some other holiday companies).
Eilean Mor Cottage
Spacious cottage with open plan kitchen/conservatory. Very clean and comfortable. With the cottage being detached, and surrounded by woodland/greenery, relaxation came very easily. Despite its' rural location, The Wi-Fi was stable and consistently good, as was the TV and mobile phone reception. We enjoyed this cottage so much that we have re-booked for next year
The Coltsfoots
WHAT A HIDDEN GEM !!!!!! Comfortable ,cosy and felt so remote ,yet we were 10 minutes walk from Fort Augustus village. The Coltfoots was very well equipped and clean and so spoilt with two king size bedrooms with en suite Had a glimpse of the shy red sqirrels ,but deer came into the garden most evenings. Even the weather was kind to us as 'Storm Babet' was hitting most of the UK. Definitely worth a return stay one day ????
Earth House
Unique and fun house to be in for a holiday. Great views of the bay and islands from the living room, and well protected from the evening storms with the house being partially built into the slope. Great for 2 people, but would not be so good for 4 - the 2nd bedroom was quite gloomy, it's only got a skylight.
Cedar Cottage
A wonderful cottage set deep in woodland with lovely walks all around. The cottage is a haven for wildlife. The kind owners have thought of everything to make a perfect, cosy, comfortable stay. Many perfect beaches within a few miles and Inverness, with all its attractions, is close by - save it for a rainy day.
Oak Cottage
Our second visit to Oak Cottage which was just as wonderful if not better than the first. The weather was mostly good, enabling us to see all the wildlife outside our window. We also regularly saw a Pine Marten via a camera trap we brought with us as well as catching a glimpse of an otter in the lochen. The cottage itself is like a home from home and has all you need.
Seabank Cottage
Seabank cottage is a beautifull cottage on the seashore! Looking out off the kitchenwindow, you can see the shore and sea. Nice place, good cottage, everything is there, what you need! We can also hear the Stags roaring!
Kincardine Cottage
Unfortunately, this property is no longer with Wilderness Cottages.
Loch Cottage
Great stay at Loch cottage, what a view to wake up to every day. Cottage was comfy and had most of the essentials - only think missing was a washing machine really (although you can access one at a close location) Great wildlife to watch, bring plenty of nuts/seed for the birds. Caught a badger visiting most nights on the trail cam. will definitely return
Fearnmore Church
A lovely and remote cottage overlooking sea and mountains. Wildlife all around (including the resident pine martens, which was a first for me). A mainly quiet and peaceful week, only interrupted by Storm Babet, and the cottage only got cosier.
Poulary Cottage
Unfortunately, this property is no longer with Wilderness Cottages.
Coorie
The booking went perfectly well. The house was fantastic, even better than the photographs and in a great location for relaxing with beautiful views and great walks from the property. Absolutely recommend 100%.
Leachachan Cottage
We loved our stay at this little tardis is of a cottage. It has the most fabulous views which changed every day. The cottage has been very well renovated and has everything you need. The welcome pack was very well thought out and much appreciated.
Seahorses
Pretty cottage in fantastic location with awesome views from every window. Very well equipped, comfy & warm. Access roads not for the faint hearted or those with low slung sports cars. Worth the challenge.
The Barn, Corrimony

Seal Skerry Lodge
Lovely 'R House' kit house, so very modernist with open plan downstairs. Location is fabulous with fantastic views on a clear day to the mountains of the Outer Hebrides. Great walks from the door; Sid ( the dog ) and I ran to Waterstein Head most mornings or the road run to Nuest Head ( I hope I got that right ). Just beware that Glendale is a fair distance from The Cullins and Trotternish....a check of the map makes that clear so not a criticism but an observation. The drive to the property is also interesting; rear wheel drive cars might find it a challenge. But you know what....an ideallic house with breathtaking views. Would I stay again? You bet!!
Easter Knocklea Cottage
Easter Knocklea is a wonderful holiday home. It has stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The master bedroom has windows both sides making it also a lovely place to wake up in. The house itself has a lovely interior which makes it a pleasure to be there. The kitchen is well equipped and the house spotlessly clean. We will definitely return!
Ardbeg
A superb cottage, clean, incredibly well equipped, warm and cosy and wonderful views. The weather was awful but it didn't stop us enjoying our week, lots of windy beach walks and on the one sunny day we even managed paddle boarding on Loch Maree. The house was always warm and cosy when we got back from our days out. Loved every minute of our stay. Thankyou Ardbeg!
Seascape Cottage
Excellent cottage. Well thought out design, included everything you might need, brilliant location and views. Just what was needed. Sarah is a great host

The Coltsfoots
We loved our time at Coltsfoots. The cottage is tucked away enough to ensure privacy but close enough to Fort Augustus to allow visits to the pub, shops and local walks. The cottage is very well equipped, warm and perfect for a couple or small family. The owner is a lovely man who was so very friendly and helpful, we knew we were in good hands. Highly recommended
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
We had a wonderful week here . The house is quietly situated four miles down a single-track road which leads only to the end of the peninsula. The house is very tasteful and modern , well equipped , comfortable with a pleasant outlook. Thank you for the generous welcome gifts and full supply of t-rolls , d/W tablets etc .

Sealight
This house had all you could wish for excellent accommodation and so well furnished and equipped setting and views are a dream. Only disappointment was we could not get access to the beach because the gate had been bolted which could not be removed. A return visit is a must.
Wildwood
I came to do the Lochness marathon. Wildwood was in the perfect location. Not far from fort Augustus and theres a nice route through the woods near by for training when my legs were recovered! Wildwood is really comfortable, even though it rained a lot I really enjoyed just relaxing inside. if I decide to do the marathon again I will be sure to book if its available. Thanks
Charleston
3rd time at Charleston...never disappoints. Wonderful cottage, garden great for the dogs. Will be back again.

Loch Cottage
We had a great stay at Loch Cottage, it was warm and well equipped. Surroundings speak for themselves - so many great walks on the doorstep. Our dog didn't want to come home. We will definitely be back.
The Granary
Lovely stay at The Granary. Clean, everything catered for and was home from home, in a beautiful quiet location. Perfect base for exploring the area. Very welcoming hosts and would recommend highly.
Katie's Cottage

Ceol na Mara
Excellent cottage right on the shoreline. Clean and spacious with everything we needed for a week's stay, very grateful for the welcome wines. Great views towards Skye -even the awful weather looked good! Not as much wildlife as we'd hoped for, but did see plenty of birds from the cottage and a couple of eagles around Shieldaig. The drive over the pass from Applecross is amazing. An information pack with local info (on walks etc.) would have been good, but managed with the internet connection. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Score Bay Cottage

North Lodge
Lovely spot in the middle of the forest. The cottage could do with some TLC. Make sure that everything that is supposed to be there is there on arrival (wood logs, bags for the used sheets), update the information/manuals, those details will bring the stay to a higher level. . And PLEASE; make sure that the gate next to the cottage can be used, to avoid disturbing the wild life on the estate unnecessarily!!!
The Granary
Been using Wilderness cottages for over 10 years now,, I think that says all you need to know
High Tor House
Beautiful house. Spotless, comfortable, excellent amenities. Beautiful location. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.
