Shore Cottage
Great location. The beach is beautiful, to sit in the sunshine on the decking under a cloudless sky and watch the Irish Sea is a rare treat and surely what we all visit this place for. However the cottage itself could do with a facelift starting with the decor. The whole place needs decorating and the dull old pictures need replacing. The bed is rather narrow too. However the cottage is well equipped. The heating works well and the fire Is an added bonus. Wi-Fi should be installed as a matter of urgency and a better tv is needed. Once again though the location is spectacular.
Ceol na Mara
We recently stayed for our 5th visit to one of the cottages, think that says it all... Wilderness Cottages kept us upto date, informed on everything we needed, would recommend them.
Seascape Cottage
Not long back from our fabulous 14 day stay at Seascape Cottage. We all love this little peace of heaven, especially our 4 year old granddaughter and both our dogs. We even had a few dips in the Irish Sea at Dally Bay, on our doorstep. Sarah is the most amazing host and on hand if needed, and not intrusive at all. We all can't wait for our next trip to Seascape Cottage ??. The Hayter Family x
Strone
Strone Cottage is situated in the perfect spot to travel around the area but also to spend time enjoying the beautiful views from the cottage! The accommodation was perfect for our needs and had everything to make our stay perfect.
Charleston
A lovely example of a cottage bearing true testimony to their name....we stayed in beautifully appointed accommodation in the middle of nowhere. It was just great doing boring stuff - getting up late, leisurely brunch and then reading in a lovely sunroom - perfect way to recharge the batteries. Beautiful countryside and nice to see the wildlife close up too. Not that we overdosed on chilling out - we went out to some of the lovely areas close to us - Fort Augustus is a must, Inverness and Dingwall too. Also made time for a couple of longer walks close by to the Cottage. Go on; book it!!
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
What a fantastic holiday we had at The Old Lock Keepers Cottage. Beautiful cottage, beautiful scenery. It's the 2nd time we've booked with Wilderness cottages &ot certainly won't be the last, thank you so much.
Cameron's Cottage
This is our first stay at Cameron's Cottage. What a stay we have had!... It's was amazing. The cottage was clean, well kept and very well equipped. It was both warm and welcoming. The views are lovely, able to look down the valley to the fields where the horses, Highland cattle roam, geese and other wild birds have great fun on the pool. The cottage is also dog friendly, our boys loved having a plod around the garden. The tea room isn't too far to walk to. Which Morag also owns - sadly we ran out of time to pay a visit - but it was always busy. Both Ali and Morag are very friendly and helpful and are always at the end of the phone if you need anything. We will be booking again at Cameron's Cottage.
Toberaie
Nothing had quite prepared us for Toberaie's spectacular high hillside setting, and the breathtaking views of the Cairngorm massif and western skies that only got better as the days passed. The house and its family history are sturdy and comforting, giving a feeling of rootedness in that wildly beautiful place. And whilst amply equipped as a holiday cottage (including such luxuries as a dishwasher, electric blankets and wood-burning stoves!), it is Toberaie's situation and drama that give you what you really need from a holiday in this sublime area: endlessly rewarding walks from the front door in authentically Scottish nature; awe-inspiring views that put everything back into perspective; and true, priceless tranquility. Toberaie was just exactly what we'd been longing for - and then some.
Earth House
What a haven from real life! The house is so different..and quirky, in all the right ways. Warm and welcoming too. The hosts were so friendly and helpful and all praise to their housekeepers. Saw one of the otters four times while I was there, twice on a rock eating fish and grooming, thanks to the telescope provided. Some Large birds diving headlong into the sea. Only suggestion would be a bird/wildlife book. The 180 degree view is unbeatable..and I am used to the west coast. Early morning sunrises beyond belief. Staff at Laide post office so friendly and helpful and a great wee shop. Mellon Udrigle beach a mile away spectacular. Sandy/pebble shore outside the house also wonderful. Cannot praise the place enough. I will be back.
Stablemans Lodge
Thanks so much for an fantastic stay - we loved Stablemans Lodge. When we arrived, the log burner was warm and there was a lovely hamper, which were such nice personal touches. The accommodation is very comfortable and well set out with plenty of space and everything we needed, It is well located in Grantown for exploring the area. Lots of outside parking and a fantastic covered veranda for drying wet/muddy clothes and shoes. The owners also let us use the shed for storing a bike, which we]as excellent. All in all a superb property.
Charleston
This property is exactly what it says in its description.. It is up a private lane with gates to keep the sheep out.. It is set in fantastic views with a large(enclosed) garden and very very private. It is sheep land and sheep are all around you so dogs do when outside garden have to be kept on the lead. The property inside is great ,spacious with everything you need and was spotless .Views from all rooms especially the sun room are amazing. Inverness was 30 minutes away so shopping was easy and lots to do close by with Fort William an hour/ Fort Augustus 30 minutes.. Would go back in a minute so very quiet/peaceful This is the 2nd cottage we have visited through Wilderness Different
Log House
We had a fantastic holiday at a fantastic Log House in fantastic weather. Loved every minute of the wonderful surroundings and locations. Can't wait to get back to the forest for another week, preferably 2.
Fearnmore Church
What a magical place! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to return again very soon.
White-Tail Croft
This is a very welcoming place to stay. Fizz and treats and generously offered with firewood, food essentials and more. It's well equipped for cooks and comfortable with Bluetooth portable speaker, a good quality TV and that fabulous sauna for when the weather makes staying in with a fire and books a great option. Large picture windows, deer and buzzards coming quite near. The house is really lovely, modern, well designed and easily the best place we have stayed at in Scotland (and we come annually) and the photos don't really do it full justice as it's much roomier than we expected. It feels quite isolated but really quite near to Portree for eating out and shopping. Two small points: This is a very individual thing but for us the bed was quite hard so maybe either bring a soft topper or perhaps the owners can store one away for us softies. Also the food cupboard at the far left was so full that there is now nowhere in the kitchen cupboards to put anything that you bring or buy. But they are tiny things and we were so happy to be there. Highly recommended and thank you for sharing your wonderful place in Skye.
Leachachan Barn
Beautiful barn in a stunning location. Great if you are looking for complete relaxation mixed with exploring the area and the Isle of Skye. 2nd time we have been and booked again for 2024

Toberaie
We booked Toberaie to get away, be remote and have the winter wilderness experience - and boy did we get it! Arrived in very heavy snow and temperatures of minus 10. It is a rustic old cottage with a lot of character and history which we loved. No central heating but fire wood provided, electric heaters and the real treat for us were the electric blankets. We needed them! The views are absolutely amazing, night stars, complete silence, it was a wonderful get away for us. Kids can just go out and explore, they loved it . Kitchen had everything we needed and although small, functioned well for us. Like other reviews living room fire chews up the wood and doesn't give out too much heat (although we really did have very low temperatures) so we just shut the door to the living room and lived in the dining room - that stove works well and is fairly economical with the wood usage. We enjoyed our time there, and since being home the children keep asking to go back, so I think we will be back!
South Lodge
Very warm and comfortable little lodge. Ideal for bird/ wildlife spotting.
Leachachan Cottage
Exceptional cottage. Spacious, fantastic views from nearly every window and a wonderful location for outdoor pursuits.

Seahorses
What a beautiful location, wonderful cottage with all the modern conveniences, stunning views overlooking Loch Nedd and beyond into the Atlantic Ocean . All the weather you could ever want in one week , Snow,Fog,Torrential rain and Gales but it didn't matter when you could just stay in and watch it all go by. Would highly recommend it if you want to get away from it all.
Log House
A really unique place to stay, a genuine log cabin. Plenty of heating (which was necessary when we went, lots of snow, beautiful scenery) and the beds are really comfortable. Great location with less than a five minute drive from Fort Augustus which is a lovely little town. Only one suggestion for an improvement would be to add a hand rail to the shower wall as an added safety measure getting in and out. A lovely property!

Ceol na Mara
We had the most amazing time staying at ceol na mara. First class accommodation very clean and tidy and fantastic view. The stags walked past the window overlooking the loch with the isle of sky in the distance. Great walks arnd there also. Me and my partner travel to scotland 3/4 times a year and I have to say its bin one of the best so far. Great relaxing location also. We look forward to booking again.
Cala
This is a wonderful place, a beautifully conceived and executed house design in a stupendous setting. The house is extremely well appointed and I could have spent all week looking at the view from the living room or the outside deck. Two days of snowfall meant that I was slightly restricted in how much of the surrounding area that I could explore but what I did see only whetted my appetite to return to take in more of the hills, lochs, beaches of near white sand and azure seas. The unexpected bonus was learning that Assynt is "a Mecca for geologists" initiating a new found interest in geology.

Charleston
Well our 4th time to Charleston says it all. Especially as we are very fussy about where we stay. The accommodation is very warm, welcoming and clean, plus the rooms are all large and nicely furnished. The wrap around garden is totally secure for dogs to do their own thing, with many diverse walks from the door. Admittedly we visit in the winter months, but never see another sole, great if your dog is reactive. This time the icing on the cake was being treated to a brilliant display of the Northern Lights. No light pollution at Charleston. I would highly recommend it if you want peace and tranquility, with Loch Ness nearby, and Inverness only about 25 mins drive away

Braehead Steading
Fabulous accommodation which was clean , spacious and had a well equipped kitchen . It was ideal for our group of 6 friends looking for a comfortable, relaxing break together. The accommodation is a beautifully furnished home with the added bonus of 4 bathrooms .The steading was so warm and cosy during our February stay. Great location with plenty of guest parking .Conveniently located a short drive from Ballater and an easy walk in to Ballater via the old railway line.Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it .
White-Tail Croft
We stopped at White-Tail Croft. We wanted to stop (permanently) at White-Tail Croft. The perfect cottage for us - everything you could wish for: location, wood-burning stove, sauna, comfy beds and sofas and well stocked kitchen. Skye is magical and we got to do everything we planned - dinosaur footprints, whisky distillery, gin distillery, fairy pools, etc etc. Unfortunately now just memories - but great memories - thanks x
Stable Cottage
The cottage itself was lovely and very comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay and the area was very tranquil. The only thing to let it down is that when we arrived the cottage was very cold as there was no heating on (I believe the last guests had been there 3 weeks previous) and had not been made ready for our arrival. Not what you need at the end of a 4 hour drive. I am not sure where the mistake happened and the caretakers, when I finally got old of them, were very nice and apologetic and came over to make the beds and replenish items.

Leachachan Barn
A fantastic location overlooking Loch Duich and the Five Sisters. Very good sized main room (living room/dining room/kitchen) with high ceiling and wood burner. Comfortable bedroom. Cosy TV room on the mezzanine floor. Well appointed kitchen. Great shower. Convenient 'boot room'.
Charleston
We return to this property yet again, been numerous times, absolutely love it, clean, good inventory and so comfortable. The only negative is last time there was a rechargeable remote lawn mower which kept the grass and mushrooms away, probably due to time of year this was not in use, so mushrooms and mole hills in abundance.
Log House
Absolutely stunning log cabin in the woods . A real home from home . Quiet and secluded very comfortable beds slept like babies. Ideally placed for walking and chilling . 3rd visit would highly recommend this little piece of heaven
Shore Cottage
This was out 4th stay at Shore Cottage, which speaks for itself really! If you are looking for a cosy, homely cottage, away from other people with plenty of secure room for dogs then look no further. In all our time there we have only ever met someone else on the beach twice and when the tide goes out the beach is probably close to a mile long from end to end. The cottage has everything you need, with comfy beds and a lovely conservatory and deck area from which to watch the sunset over Northern Ireland. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Seal Skerry Lodge
Our 11th visit to Milovaig, Skye & our 3rd stay at Seal Skerry Lodge since it was built. The fact that we keep returning speaks for itself. We love Seal Skerry, it has all the comforts of a home from home. Views from the large floor to ceiling windows are amazing. We had a few days of mizzle (very misty drizzle) but it was so cosy curled up on the large corner sofa with the log burner going that it didn't matter about the weather. Can't wait to be back next January. Will be booking again soon.
Leachachan Barn
This is the third time we've stayed at Leachachan Barn. Once again it was perfect in every way. The house is so warm and cosy, super spacious, very very well equipped, and the views are simply out of this world. This is our favourite house in Scotland and one we will no doubt be returning to again in the future. Thankyou for another great week.
Stable Cottage
We had a fantastic week here in January, snowed in one day. The cottage is warm and comfortable. There lots of excellent walks on the estate even down to Larbrax Bay but we cheated and took the car half way...Every walk we saw deer and herons. The wifi is fast and we had all the facilities we needed in the cottage. It is not a luxury or modern cottage but this is not what we were looking for, it was very clean and had all we needed. We barely saw anyone on the estate other than a lively welcome from Venetia from the castle. Looking forward to our next visit...
Seal Skerry Lodge
What a perfect location to spend the week! Amazing views from the house, couldn't think of a more peaceful place to spend a few days. Could see the seals out on the skerry from the house. Beautiful sunrises too. Neist Pointisclose by and the place to see the sunset. The house is extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen, there was everything you need to ensure a very pleasant stay, great attention to detail. Beds were super comfy, walk in shower did the job. Would definitely return.

Upper Folds
We have just returned from the most perfect break for the two of us and our dachshund. I mention the dog particularly as you could close the main gate to have a completely safe enclosed area for her to run. Initial access was tricky relying on a sat nav as it loses its signal before arrival but once you are on the correct track it's easy enough. The cottage is very remote. There is no TV or Internet and it proved to be just what we needed and reminiscent of times gone by before the digital revolution. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Cooking is from a gas fired Aga style hob which took a bit of adapting to but once understood worked very well. Shopping for basic supplies can be obtained from Dufftown or if you need anything more there is a large ASDA at Elgin. We did not venture out much and spent our week reading and playing board games. I really do encourage more people to take time out from their phone. In summary this stay was perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend it to other visitors.
Leachachan Barn
To be honest I should be telling everyone how bad the barn is because as soon as everyone knows it's as good as it is - it will be booked up and we won't be able to book again. But I will take the risk. As soon as we arrived at Leachachan barn we felt at home. The setting is one of the most beautiful parts of the World with fantastic views. The barn is so comfy and cosy. No TV downstairs but this we loved. Instead we played chess, piano, meditated, did yoga and chilled out with a wee dram in front of the log fire. Our dogs loved it - especially the fire and the fantastic walks. The barn is well equipped and obviously loved by the owners and visitors. Every little thing has been thought of. The beds are so comfy - especially the pillows. We will def be visiting this barn again. Only thing I would change is the barncould do with a couple of champagne glasses (it was New Years) and a few music books for the piano. It's fabulous - but please go somewhere else and leave this barn for us ????
