Rhundunan
Location, location, location, I couldn't fault it. The views were so good that I spent many an hour just looking out of the many windows that had a view. Clearly the house was designed taking the views into consideration. The interior has been done in a very high specification including surround sound system and a Tv that allows you to stream your own programmes should you find the time. The master bedroom has a large bed. I am 6'5'' and felt comfortable. Again views were incredible. 2 good size bedrooms and 1 2 bunk beds. Ideal for 3 generations. With the 3 Chimneys restaurant at the bottom of the driveway we spoilt ourselves. Choose a sunny day to go to Neist Point, go early and take your time. Stop and study the surroundings. We saw Dolphins, seals, gannets etc. Coral beach is stunning. Go beyond the beach to find a magnificent headland, the water was crystal clear. Skye Wildelife tours were superb. We saw Otters, Seals, Deer, Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles. Such good value. Sea fishing off Meanish Community Pier allowed us free meals of Mackerel and Pollack. We will definitely be going again
Drumfad Cottage
Charleston
Lovely spacious cottage in a great location with stunning views. So peaceful and relaxing. Lots of great walks on the doorstep. The weather was perfect for hill walking. Great enclosed garden for the dog and a well equipped cottage. We enjoyed eating our evening meal in the dining room drinking in the spectacular views over towards Fort Augustus. A memorable, relaxing holiday had by all. Thoroughly recommend a week away here.
Braehead Steading
The accommodation we stayed at the Braehead Steading was perfect for our needs and was so comfortable. Easy access to the town and perfect for discovering the surrounding areas. A great holiday and rest.
Braehead Steading
We had a wonderful stay in Braehead Steading, it's a lovely house with a very high standard of facilities and plenty of space for a large group. The area is amazing with wonderful views, great walks and local amenities in Ballater. Will definitely return.
Cedar Cottage
Had a wonderful break at Cedar Cottage near Forres. House was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Garden was lovely. The forestry commission road to cottage makes it more interesting. Loads of birds at the feeder. Loved seeing woodpecker and owl up close
Littlepark Cottage
Ardrannach
Lovely cottage, could have been cleaner & the decor needs updating but apart from that it was a warm cosy cottage & the beds were so comfy, garden was secure for our dogs, grass could have been cut though, the views from the cottage were beautiful,it was a very relaxing cottage to stay in..
Kincardine Cottage
My wife and I recently spent 2 wonderful weeks in Kincardine and it was our fourth time to stay there. It is a lovely cottage far enough away from civilisation to remove yourself from the rat race and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
Braehead Steading
We had a lovely stay at Braehead Steading. The house although large felt very warm and cosy. It was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need.
Stable Cottage
Lovely cottage (large), well equipped and warm when needed. Wonderful woodlands and walks and well situated to explore the area. Could have done a good vacuum to defeat the spider webs and dust though. Most importantly do not attempt to drive to the beach unless you have a 4x4 as treacherous for low cars, walking is recommended as it's beautiful.
Shellach Cottage
Enjoyable week staying in a lovely old cottage. Views to the front are beautiful overlooking Loch Carron (and the occasional dear). 15 minute walk to the village with a selection of cafes and restaurants. The cottage itself is oldy-worldy with a few quirks but everything you need is there.
The Orchids
This was a really lovely place to stay. I've already recommended it to others. It was beautifully appointed, and clearly a lot of thought and care had gone into it. It was spotlessly clean, lovely views, I can't rate it highly enough. Prior to booking we had a couple of queries which were quickly dealt with, during our stay there was a minor issue with the washing machine, an immediate and good response from the owner. Comfortable and lovely place, highly recommended by us
Earth House
Earth House exceeded our expectations. The two key elements of accommodation and location were perfect for us. The house is an architectural underground marvel, tucked away in the hillside right on the edge of the sea. Surprisingly light, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The location is perfect for wildlife watching. Eagles, otters and dolphins regularly seen from the comfort of the lounge. We spent ages just exploring on our own "private" beach. An unusual, quirky gem of a property. Highly recommended.
Ceol na Mara
Absolutely fabulous 5star cottage of superior quality throughout. Everything and more that you could need. A real home from home, warm and welcoming with outstanding views across the sea to the Isle of Skye. The Stags visiting the garden in the morning and evenings night were an unexpected bonus. A wonderful stay, we cannot wait to return. Oh and thank you for the complimentary wine! On arrival, if you travel slowly, around 25 yards past the cottage, be careful not to miss the narrow gravel track on the right that takes you down to the front of the cottage. This saves you having to carry your luggage down a steep narrow footway.
Callakille
The Burnside Cottage at Callakille is ideal for people looking for peace and remoteness: There are only a few houses within three or more miles! It is cozy and lovingly furnished and well equipped. The cottage is an ideal base to explore the Applecross Peninsula. Applecross offers some well developed hiking trails, which are also not too difficult to master. If you want to eat out you find two or three places at Applecross village and nearby; In high season, be sure to make a reservation and find out if the restaurant is open. We spent a great week in Callakille, after crossing the Applecross Pass (don't miss the drive from the south, it's breathtaking! And watch out for the cyclists, they must be suffering quite a bit!), thanks to the owners.
Earth House
This property is superb, as are the owners supplying with everything we needed for our late arrival from their own refrigerator, also a lovey bottle of wine ???? the cottage is of the highest standard as us everything within, stunning views and so much wildlife including seal's just outside the picture window doors. We had one the best holidays ever coming away totally relaxed, cannot wait to return in the future.. thank you do very much
Seascape Cottage
This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The location is fantastic With Sea views and a very short walk to the beach, the coastline & wildlife is amazing. Sarah made us very welcome and the excellent welcome basket was an added bonus. We will definitely return in the future and would highly recommend this cottage.
Cluny Croft
Cluny Croft is in an excellent location with lovely views. Plenty of walking at all levels in the area. The accommodation is quite spacious and generally comfortable, although very tired. The kitchen is particularly well-equipped and even and a range of supplies (salt and pepper, oil etc) . There is a good supermarket, other shops and a petrol station in Newtonmore. Although it has wifi, it was very unstable and we were unable to stream anything. It is not at all suitable if you need to do anything beyond check some mails or web pages (and even then it can be very slow). Remember to bring toiletries and toilet roll.
Score Bay Cottage
Leachachan Cottage
We had a wonderful week at Leachachan Cottage. The house has the most magnificent views of the Five Sisters and is extremely comfortable and stylish. We were thrilled to see a pine marten and badger in the garden. We will definitely be back.
Rhundunan
Great cottage with stunning views to the sea and the cuillin mountains. Very comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen and plenty of space to relax make this a perfect place to spend your holiday. The housekeeper is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant "Three Chimneys" is just around the corner and definitely worth a visit (reservation recommended).
Earth House
We spent an absolutely amazing week at this spectacular unique property, Donald was simply one of the best supplying us with the essentials we needed including a lovely bottle of wine until we could get to the shops the next day as we arrived quite late in the evening. We felt totally relaxed from day one enjoying the views and wildlife right outside our window, we both tried to find our artist within by having a go a watercolor painting which we thoroughly enjoyed with such beautiful scenery to inspire us.. we cannot recommend this property enough it was superb. Thank you, I'm positve you will see us again x
Eilean Mor Cottage
A great little cottage. Only negative thing I could say is that the hedges are a wee bit too high to enjoy the view, apart from that perfect!
Plodda Falls Lodge
A fantastic place to stay, has everything you need including peace and quiet. It's our 2nd time going to Plodda Lodge and it won't be our last!!! Thank you again to Jenny (the owner) who was a star!
Pooltiel House
Pooltiel House is situated in a beautiful spot overlooking Loch Pooltiel, Dunvegan Head and the Outer Hebrides. Dolphins can be seen in the Loch from the garden, and it's a short drive to Neist Point which is a stunning place to spend a few hours. The house is very well equipped and very comfortable and is also a short drive from Glendale for emergency supplies and the superb Cafe Lephin. It's a good idea to make sure you have basics for when you arrive as there is no milk/bread provided, unlike many other Wilderness Cottages. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a stunning setting this cottage ticks every box!
Score Bay Cottage
Loch Cottage
A very special and beautiful location directly at Loch Pityoulish. We had a wonderful time. Even the weather was not very Scottish but much better than expected.
Seal Skerry Lodge
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Seal Skerry! The views were spectacular, the photos really don't do it justice. It is in a great location with lots of stunning walks on the doorstop. When we arrived the lodge was spotlessly clean was very impressed by how modern and well equipped it was, especially in the kitchen. Hope to be returning soon!
Strone
The cottage was in a excellent location, absolutely spectacular veiws of Loch Ness. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Grain Store
Beautiful accommodation. It was clean and tidy and well equipped. Light and spacious throughout. The grain store is in a stunning setting, beautiful view of the Carigomes national park. Thank you for a lovely stay
Strone
Great wee place to stay, Had everything that you would need for a holiday,The cottage was very clean.Would recommend staying here, Its quite central for exploring the highlands.
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
We had a wonderful stage at Tigh-na-Craobh. It is in a lovely peaceful position and very central for exploring Skye. The kitchen was well equipped and very organised and clean. We enjoyed cooking there each evening. The bathrooms were also very clean and the showers had plenty of hot water. The whole standard of the house was very impressive. We arrived late and had informed Wilderness Cottages. It was great to arrive after midnight with the lights on and welcoming us in.
Reyflat Barn
What a lovely holiday! Reyflat Barn is fabulous. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We were greeted by Pat on our arrival. She had made us some scones and left us some best butter, clotted cream and wonderful strawberry jam! She even left us some milk too. Fresh flowers were also a great addition and very thoughtful. The Barn is well located to explore the Highlands and the views are to die for. Highly recommended!
Leachachan Cottage
Our experience from start to finish was faultless. Leachachan cottage was exceptional. It has everything we needed. Everything thing in the cottage was excellent. No expense spared! I have to say the bed was even comfier than my own! The location and view was second to none. Friends are already asking me for the details! A little step to reach the washing machine drawer would be helpful for the vertically challenged. Thanks for a wonderful week.
Log Ness
We recently stayed at Log Ness and cannot recommend it highly enough. Fantastic property with everything you need in a great location.
Toberaie
A lovely old farmhouse with really beautiful views over the Cairngorms. A well appointed and super clean house. Comfy beds. Plenty of electric heating available if required. It was so cosy to fire up the wood burners on the cooler evenings and yes, matches, kindling and logs also provided. The surrounding area was great to explore, full of history and culture. Plenty of activities with cycling very popular.
Taffs Barn
Lovely property, spotlessly clean and has everything you need. We were warmly welcomed by Pat the owner, who had generously provided home made scones and in the fridge provisions of milk , butter, jam and even clotted cream! It's a good base for exploring the Black Isle and further north. I would highly recommend and hope to stay again.
Easter Knocklea Cottage
We have just spent an amazing week at Easter Knocklea Cottage. A beautiful property inside and out. Spacious, yet cosy, with many different seating areas. A well equipped kitchen, including an extra fridge and freezer in the very useful boot room! We enjoyed having meals in the conservatory where the views across the valley were amazing. We also spent lots of time sitting outside admiring the view and the wildlife. The property is in a secluded position, with just 1 near neighbour, but a very useful Spar shop in the village of Bellabeg a few miles down the road. We had a great time exploring the local area and the wider Cairngorm area including the Balmoral estate.
Ardrannach
Loved the view from the living room window! The house is huge (we were four), rooms are spacious. Beds new and very comfortable, but interior (most of all the shower and the kitchen) might need an upgrade as it is quite old. Overall cleanliness has room for improvement as well. We were unfortunately unable to cope with the heating regulation, thank God we had the fireplace. :) Owner made some efforts to keep up communication with us. Turned out that he went on a short trip which is totally ok, but it would have been convenient to have someone around and approachable. Had a very lovely week on Skye!
White-Tail Croft
We had a great time at White-Tail Croft. The accommodation is very comfortable, the views are fantastic and the house is very well-furnished. It's difficult to find anything much that could be improved but perhaps some black-out blinds in the bedrooms would be a good idea - it can be difficult to fall asleep on those light evenings/nights in the summer, especially for those of us used to darker skies!
The Mill
This is without a doubt one of the nicest holiday homes we have ever stayed in. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated and very well equipped in terms of amenities. The owners live on the same property and are very friendly.
Shellach Cottage
Shellach cottage is a lovely house in a great location and we very much enjoyed staying here. It's very comfortable, well equipped and well maintained.
Ceol na Mara
This cottage was all we were looking for. 50 metres to the water - which we did dip in on several occasions - seals swimming when the tide came in, herons and other birds and in the evening, the reddeers came by slow nibbling the grass. We could sit for hours just looking at the view of the Loch Kishon and Cuilins of Skye in the distance. Friendly neighbour also, we had a great time. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, perfect for a family of four adults, and "checking in" was no problem at all. Everything worked and we did not have the need for contacting the owner. As a matter of courtesy I informed of our arrival an departure per sms but did not receive a reply. Turned out the owner's number was a landline, but Wilderness Cottages made sure to inform the owner on our behalf. Dealing with Wilderness Cottages was also very easy and straighforward. Their representative was friendly and accommodating and made sure everything went smooth. I will not hesitate to recommend this cottage, it is exquisite and the location is epic. Also using Wilderness Cottages is highly recommended. /Ulf Herold-Jensen
Poulary Cottage
Another fantastic holiday in this lovely cottage. This is our 3rd time here and won't be our last. The cottage was immaculate on arrival with everything you need for your stay. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Top class entertainment is provided by the variety of wildlife through the kitchen window and the view down the glen is spectacular. Another perfect holiday and we highly recommend Wilderness Cottages for your Scottish holiday.
Log House
We have been returning to the log house for 10 years now, love the place, it has everything you need for a peaceful holiday, having nature on your doorstep, and the walks in the forest and down the river walk are truly magnificent.
Ardrannach
Overall we enjoyed our stay but we were not told about the condition of the road to the house! The road was so bad we damaged our car! Had we been informed of the state of the road we would have brought our SUV ! The house was full of dead flies along the window ledges and human nail clippings under the bed! Very peaceful place to stay with ample time to switch off as no traffic noise , Beds Comfortable and clean and overall Very Good
Wilderness Cottages Replied...
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Ardrannach. We are glad you enjoyed your stay however disappointed to hear about the cleanliness and condition of the road to the house has tained your expeience. Wilderness Cottages are a booking agent and having reviewed our files this issue has not been raised in the past.. We have contacted the owner to discuss the access issues further. They have advised the road is a public highway which is maintained by the local council. After our discussions with the owners they have contacted their local authority to share the issues raised. He has also spoken with the housekeeper and this has been dealt with at the recent changeover.
Seascape Cottage
A really nice cottage, very well appointed with all you could need for a good stay. Quiet, peaceful location with great scenery and the sea just a few minutes walk away ... plus amazing rock formations! And a friendly welcome on arrival as a bonus!
