Ardbeg
My husband, dog and I had the pleasure of staying in a beautiful house called Ardbeg in Gairloch and had an absolutely wonderful time. From our initial booking to our arrival the process was smooth and trouble free. The house is elevated and has uninterrupted views over the bay from the open plan lounge/ dining room / kitchen, snug room and master bedroom. It was well equipped with superior furniture and soft furnishings. Everything had been thought of to make our stay as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. I would have no hesitation in recommending Wilderness Cottages to anyone and Ardbeg too. I didn't want to leave!
The Granary
Our second visit to this lovely cottage and first time with our dog. Mairi and Paul were friendly and accommodating hosts (especially when our car broke down!) and the cottage was as welcoming and ideally situated as we remembered it. Had some fabulous walks from the door in Urquhart Bay Woods and further afield at Rogie Falls and saw dolphins at Chanonry Point. For dog friendly places to eat can recommend Fiddlers Fish and Chip Van, the Loch Ness Inn and the Snow Goose in Inverness ( dog friendly spaces need to be pre-booked at the latter two). A wonderful break with glorious weather . Definitely on our list of places to return to one day!
Braehead Steading
superb week at Breahead Steading, the weather was so kind to us, wall to wall sunshine and hot for 7 days. The cottage is spacious and very clean, the garden was super and our boxer dog really enjoyed the secure and large grassed garden. The surrounding area and Ballater Village are truly special, and a visit to Braemar was also brilliant. Dependant on the time of the year we managed to visit Balmoral Castle which was excellent. cottage has everything you could need for catering, there were only 2 of us and our dog, but the house is massive and has a lot of bedrooms and bathrooms. Lovely sitting out every evening having a craft beer and a dram. Thanks
Shore Cottage
Our 3rd visit to Shore Cottage, and we will be back! The bed is super comfortable and the cottage is spotless and has everything you need for a week's stay.
Plodda Falls Lodge
Plodda Lodge has been lovingly restored to create a perfect holiday cottage in an idyllic setting away from it all. On arrival we were met by the owner, Jenny- who gave us a guided tour around the spotlessly clean cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with all that you need, and even a delicious homemade cake by Jenny. Our 2 golden retrievers made full use of the enclosed gardens. The cottage is in a great location, with numerous fine walks straight from the door. Jenny has excellent knowledge of the area and is more than happy to give her advice. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will no doubt be returning.
Seascape Cottage
We had a fabulous week at Seascape cottage. It's clean and well equipped, providing everything we needed for an unforgettable holiday.
Stoer Lodge
We had a fabulous week - lovely cottage, great spot, and we were blessed with very sunny weather (end May to early June).
Cedar Cottage
Cedar Cottage is the most perfect cottage for those wanting a bit of isolation. It's up a forest track, only a handful of houses about 5 mins away. There is an abundance of Birdlife and DAILLY sightings in the garden of red squirrels. We had 3 at one time one morning. Forres only a few miles away. Large supermarket (Tesco) If required. The cottage is well equipped and VERY clean. It's quite simply perfect!
Plodda Falls Lodge
The house was amazing and as good as any we've stayed in. Jenny was a fantastic host, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The location, the gardens, and the surrounding area are all stunningly beautiful. Access to The Hill, whether it be Munros, Corbetts or lower hills is almost unlimted and so many are only a few miles drive. We enjoyed the wildlife at the Lodge (Woodpecker being the highlight) and the on The Hill (Golden Plover and Ptarmigan the highlight there) with too many spiecies to mention. We hope to be back soon...
The Studio
This is a beautiful, light, modern studio in a secluded, quiet area of the island, ideally situated for reaching lots of different places. It is VERY hidden from the road. Views of the ever-changing Cuillins are great. It is well-resourced and there are walking poles & even a yoga mat (although a little short of food storage other than fridge & freezer as is common in holiday lets.) The outside deck is a complete sun trap on those days. ?? Would definitely rebook.
The Mill at Glenlivet
Ardbeg
What an excellent holiday home. The house was in a beautiful situation and very well- appointed. The booking process was straightforward and the contacts were friendly and welcoming.
Swallow Byre
Had a fabulous time at Swallow Byre. Comfy, well equipped cosy cottage in a beautiful spot. The area is perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Shore Cottage
Absolutely beautiful location. Rustic cottage which completely suited our needs. Seclusion was great and the beach was ours to roam alone. Cottage has everything you'll need. Views across to the Northern Irish coast are stunning along with the local beauty. Cannot rate the place highly enough. My family and I (we have 2 teenage daughters) loved every minute. Wilderness Cottages were amazing throughout, great communication and very helpful. Brilliant.
Seal Skerry Lodge
Seal Skerry Lodge is in a perfect setting and the wonderful architectural design and furnishings really make the most of its position. We enjoyed using the telescope watching the seals. All the appliances worked well although we thought there weren't enough kitchen utensils, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans etc. Given there's a dishwasher, we had to wash up regularly between dishwasher use. Regarding cleanliness within the property, we felt this slightly fell short of what we had expected for a holiday let of this standard. Perhaps the owners need to think about more time allocation for the housekeeper, and also allocating time for a deep clean every so often.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Seal Skerry Lodge. We are glad you enjoyed your stay however disappointed to hear about the cleanliness within the property. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents we have contacted the owner to discuss your feedback. The owner has raised your issues with the housekeeper and this will be dealt with at the next changeover.
Plodda Falls Lodge
This is a lovely spacious cottage with great character and history, in a stunning location, set amongst lichen-hung birch trees and more extensive woodland. It is peaceful and beautiful, and provided me with many opportunities for painting and sketching, plus bird-watching from the breakfast table. The cottage is excellently equipped with very comfortable beds and bedding. We got a lovely warm friendly welcome from our host - thank you, Jenny.
Ceol na Mara
My son and I had a brilliant week at Ceol na Mara - what an amazing place to be on the banks of Loch Kishorn. We adored the venue and enjoyed lots of walks from the cottage. The cottage itself was perfect for us and very clean, welcoming and comfortable. Our host left us flowers, chocolates and shortbread too! It is a magical place and for us, totally wonderful.
White-Tail Croft
White Tail Croft is a special place. It is in the moorland outside Portree, Isle of Skye, providing stunning views of the countryside (including many sheep and lambs), with eagles, raptors and many other birds floating on the air currents. The cottage itself is quite lovely, modern and includes all the necessary amenities. If a peaceful holiday is what you desire, this is the place.
Glenara
The Studio
Excellent, nice peaceful location, well equipped
Plodda Falls Lodge
Plodda Falls Lodge is in an idyllic setting with the forest right out of your door, literally. The Lodge is very clean and comfortable and Jenny is a delight. The Glens in the surrounding area are. fantastic and worth a visit. If you have been thinking about booking Plodda Falls stop thinking and just book it you will not regret it...Thank you Jenny oh and thank you for the cake...
Ceol na Mara
An absolute pleasure to stay in this exceptional cottage. Fully equipped kitchen and immaculately presented throughout. Deers strolled by in morning and evening often resting on the front lawn, Stunning views from the lounge onto the sea Loch where we saw seals, numerous birds and in the distance the Cuillin Hills on Skye. There are walking trails nearby, but if your after total relaxation therapy, this is the place for you,
Earth House
The location of the Earth House is exceptionally beautiful, so peaceful, we saw Minke Whales, Otters and a Sea Eagle all from the house. Externally the house was an amazing construction, sympathetically built to blend in with its surroundings. Internally the cottage was well equipped, but the furnishings were rather uncomfortable and the twin bedroom only had a roof light that you could not see out of or open. Because of the location I would rate this as Good overall.
Ardrannach
Nice holiday cottage, although a bit old. View from the living room is superb. Cottage is very good situated to discover Skye. Walking to Portee is approx. 20 minutes. The road to cottage is very bad with lots of holes, so look out!
Udrigle House
We stayed at Udrigle House near Laide. It is a beautiful old house, very well maintained and a lovely place to stay, being within a few yards of a quiet stretch of the seashore. We booked the house only a few weeks before our holiday. The booking process was simple and straightforward.
Ardbeg
Fantastic cottage and stunning views We had a fabulous time in this house and in beautiful Gairloch My daughter will be booking for next year,as will myself and my husband One of the best holiday homes I have had the privilege of staying in. I must also mention the extremely friendly and helpful staff at Wilderness Cottage, Lovely people
The Studio
Excellent accommodation, light and spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Convenient for several of the popular places to visit on the island.
Ardbeg
Excellent cottage with wonderful views out to sea to Skye and beyond. The steep drive could prove a problem to some cars.
Plodda Falls Lodge
This house is very comfy, well equipped and immaculately clean. It is set in a wonderful position with forest walks from the doorstep which we and our dogs really enjoyed. The totally secure garden is a real plus for those with children and/or dogs and we enjoyed watching the huge variety of birds coming to the feeders. As advised, the access road is challenging and slow and be prepared to travel a distance for eating out. The house has Wifi, but it should be noted that this is limited and mobile reception in the area is patchy. We really enjoyed our week here, thank you Jenny.
Strone
Basic but nice cottage clean and comfortable in a good location for exploring the area. The track leading to the property is very uneven and may cause issues with people with mobility issues. Parking is also quite awkward.
Ardrannach
Ardrannach is a great place to stay views to remember Helpful owners. Everything you need in the cottage
Learag
The house is perfectly situated to explore the area. Having the very kind and helpful owners just next door was appreciated, however privacy was fully granted. We loved the spotlessly clean, new and proper house where nothing was missing and the furnishing with its personal touch. We can highly recommend this property.
South Lodge
From first enquiry to stepping through the door of the stunning holiday Cottage everything went perfectly! Great company to deal with ! Would definitely recommend to others and use again !
Leachachan Barn
Just back from a wonderful week near Skye, staying in a converted barn on the shores of a loch, overlooking the mountains. Wilderness Cottages has some really beautiful places to rent, and the people who run it are very helpful and attentive.

Shellach Cottage
What a lovely setting and a lovely cottage. Everything you would or could need its a home from home. A welcoming stack of tummels and milk in the fridge. It was warm so I didn't need to light either the fire or log burner. There were instructions about all the utilities. Location over the Loch. When we arrived there were deer in the garden. So many birds and wildlife around. Very quiet, peaceful and a time to rest. I had never been to the Highlands before, I will definitely be coming back. The village is a short walk away with two petrol stations, a spar, a couple of eateries Lochcarron Hotel open all day lovely scones and coffee, waterside cafe also has nice food. Rock villa and Butchers not open all the time booking is needed for the Bistro. Plockton is a lovely village, you can go by train or drive there are boat trips with Calum to see the seals. . Kishorn has a lovely seafood bar. The roads are narrow and there are passing places.
Littlepark Cottage
Strone
Property is in a great location but access may be difficult for some especially with mobility issues. Parking is awkward due to a very uneven driveway with a sharp bend which is poorly lit. Property was very clean upon arrival with comfy beds and plenty of blankets and towels. Received a welcome pack of wine, flowers, bread and milk which was nice. Little details missing such as a shower caddy, one mirror in the entire house located in the bedroom. We have stayed in many properties through Wilderness Cottages, this one is by far the least equipped. Overall we enjoyed our stay, guess we just miss the comforts of home.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Strone Cottage. We have discussed this with the owner who has now addressed these issues where required.
Log House
A wonderful secluded peaceful location, with many beautiful walks. Genuine log cabin with all the amenities you could ever need. Warm and cosy cabin, with extremely comfortable beds and hot shower. We'll definitely be back.
Tor Cottage
Quality accommodation!
Cedar Cottage
Had a lovely week here, the cottage was lovely and spotless. This is the first time ever we have not had to clean anything on arrival. The countryside is lovely peaceful and quiet. Close at hand beaches lovley towns and villages. Sitting outside Iin the garden being joined by the red squirrels and birds on the feeder tree. Going back next year.
Udrigle House
House is set in a lovely location, was clean on arrival, owners leave nearby and on hand to sort out any issues. On arrival we were told the sauna was not working, which was not an issue for us. Although there is WiFi the speed is very slow, I ended up using my phone network as it was faster. The house is full of character, but it's a big place and does take some warming up
Ceol na Mara
We much enjoyed our stay - particularly as Ceol na Mara is right on the shore, with no traffic at all in front. There are a number of very picturesque places nearby to visit by car, such as Applecross and Plockton and there are shops a few miles down the road at Loch Carron. The cottage was well-fitted and extremely clean. We hope to come again.
Seal Skerry Lodge
Fantastic week holiday - great location , looking onto the loch, watching seals daily even a family of 3 otters. Well equipped, didn't need the fire as so warm in the lodge . Even the roads locally just been repaved- needed. A short drive to Neist Point , Thoroughly recommended, 5 stars
Swallow Byre
About as far from our everyday home as we could get, opening the front door to Swallow's Byre was an absolute delight. In a very beautiful location, this little croft had everything that you would need, it was extremely well presented. You would not want to holiday here if you wanted to be in the thick of things, so for us, who were looking to get right away from everything, this property could not have ticked more boxes. Instead of walking everywhere, we trialled our electric bikes and we found, to our total pleasure, endless roads and tracks to use all over the area. There are all sorts of venues both near and far and the croft is so located as to provide easy access to them all. It was a home from home and we wanted for nothing, we would most definitely return, probably in a different season, a very special thank you to Jane the owner for her every attention to detail.
Leachachan Barn
What a super house! Its been said by others, but can stand saying again - the house is wonderfully designed, spendidly equipped, and perfectly located. It was very nicely prepared and presented for us. We met the charming gentleman who tends to the property both inside and out who gave us tips about where to walk and where to eat. The house has left its mark on us. After playing the piano in the house ( for the first time in over 50 years ) ( how many holiday cottages offer this ? ) one of the first things we did on our return was to order one of our own; and we fell for the wonderfully efficient log burner ( yes, we did not have the best of weather) and plan to replace ours with one similar. This was our first dealings with Wilderness Cottages, and we suspect it will not be our last. We have a "house rule" which states that we never return to any holiday location - but if we didn't, we would !!
White-Tail Croft
Our 5th stay at White Tail Croft and once again it was perfect for exploring Skye. Really well equipped and comfortable with beautiful views. We appreciated the fizz and treats after a long journey. Highly recommended.
Arrivain Cottage
Love, Love, loved it, what more can we say that hasn't been said already about this wonderful property, it was just perfect in every way and everything that we hoped it would be and was in a great position to explore the area and it was always lovely to return to Arrivain after a day out and observe the wildlife and take in the peace and tranquility that was all around; Highly recommended
Sealight
This was our first stay at Sealight and we were not disappointed in any way. It is a beautiful, large property with everything you could possibly want or need for a comfortable stay, and with a view to impress. The wildlife watching kept us busy, with birds, deer and pine martens. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at Sealight.
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would not hesitate to return or to recommend it. The location is peaceful with pretty, gentle views and it is well situated for touring the rest of Skye. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable, though with mild, sunny weather we didn't put the wood burning stove to the test. The lack of curtains in the living area was initially off putting but as we got used to it we wouldn't have wanted to block out the views with curtains. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay - we'd love to come back.
