Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
As we arrived at the Tree House a Golden Eagle lifted up into the trees and flew off as we entered. What a welcome! A beautiful house in a beautiful setting among trees and fields with sheep. The single lane track leads further down to a nice beach. We explored Trotternish, the area around Dunvegan, Talisker and Carbost and when it was raining we spent some time in Portree. We thoroughly enjoyed our time which was way too short and would happily come back.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
This gem of a cottage was a pleasant surprise. We knew it had age but did not expect the comfort and warmth it gave us. Our time here flew past as there was so many attractions and things to do nearby. Boats galore on the canal and everyone had a smile and wave. Given the chance we will return again soon.

North Lodge
What a beautiful and relaxing place to chill and unwind with my owners. Warm and cozy. It was also the perfect base, not only to explore locally, but also further afield. Woof woof.
The Granary
Wonderful week away in this gorgeous cottage. Furnishings were of an excellent standard and overall it was very cosy with loads of homely touches. Hosts were so friendly and the welcome gift was very unexpected. Great base for exploring. People in the village were also very friendly and welcoming, especially at The Loch Ness Inn. We would definitely recommend this property and would return in a heartbeat.

Ardbeg
Excellent property with excellent views over to Skye. Very comfortable and warm with everything you need for a relaxing break. Will hopefully return.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
That's our 5th time and have next year booked already. Absolutely stunning location and the cottage is out of this world. So clean and has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. Absolutely love our time there.
Toberaie
We have just returned from our weeks stay at Toberaie. The cottage is in a great location with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. We were fortunate as arrived on a sunny afternoon so saw the best of the autumn colours and sunset - it rained most days after that. We found the cottage itself very comfortable with really everything and more that a holiday guest would hope to find (except no mop!). We had read in other reviews of people walking direct from the cottage but this was something we couldn't do as we have a dog and thelocal estate had feeders out for the pheasants and partridges of which there thousands (no exageration.
Upper Folds
We spent a wonderful week at upper folds cottage and I can honestly say it was beautiful the cottage is clean warm and cozy and has everything you would need for your stay. The owners have thought of everything. If you're looking to recharge your batteries then this is definitely the place to come. Can't wait to return next year
Roseville
Cottage very comfortable and well equipped. Beds and showers excellent and decor spotless. The chef was very happy when he found the cheese grater - it looks rather different than expected - but worked really well. We really enjoyed our stay and did a mix of hill walking, coastal walks and touristy things. Weather generally better than expected. Lochinver Pottery and pie shop are a must to visit. The only minor niggle was the washbasins upstairs which are only suitable for brushing your teeth, being small and shallow. Using them to wash results in water everywhere :-)
Tor Cottage
Faultless, what an amazing cottage. Amazing views you would never try of. Dolpins regular seem from the cottage, beautiful views across the island and onto isle of Skye, you can see 49 miles onto Sgurr nan Giliean amazing. . Very clear and comfortable with everything you need, kitchen was well equipped Hosts were very welcoming without being intrusive, extremely knowledgeable of the island. Having traveled numerous Scottish islands this is one of the best places ever visited. We strongly recommend. Enjoy this wonderful island. Thank you So much Ruth and John, fabulous. Carol & Steve
South Lodge
Please don't tell anyone about this location! It's perfect with no humans! Otters for company every day, badger every night. We will go back there. It's absolutely stunning
The Challey at Heathcote
We have stayed at the Challey quite a few times now and just love the setting...and it's position close to the River Spey, Speyside Way...and of course more distilleries than you can shake a stick - do a DRAMble around many!! We love the hiking possibilities all around us. The Challey is very comfortable, well appointed - the hosts also live on next door and are extremely welcoming and helpful. If you are looking for somewhere different to go to in Scotland then we can highly recommend the Challey!!!
Stoer Lodge
Easy booking process and great communication. Beautiful old school house with some original features and felt like home from home. Stunning location and we had a quiet, peaceful week. The dog loved the enclosed garden and her 'private beach' would return and highly recommend
Coorie
We had one very big issue with Coorie - we had to leave it! What an amazing holiday property. On arrival Coorie was spotless. We have been extremely comfortable and warm. We've loved nothing better than sitting at the dining table with a drink enjoying the incredible views. The bed is comfy (we slept so well), bathroom very luxurious and lounge/sofa very cozy and comfortable. We love everything about Coorie including the decor and furniture! This was our first time to Skye, we love the local area and we've had an amazing holiday. We were unbelievably lucky with the weather and had thirteen days of sunshine out of fifteen days. A wonderful holiday property and we'd love to go back someday.
Ardbeg
Beautiful property with a stunning view from both inside and the balcony, out over Gairloch bay and the village to Skye and the Hebrides. Lots to do and places to explore and always a warm comfortable place to come back to.
The Coltsfoots
A wonderful log cabin with brilliant facilities. Fort Augustus is situated between Fort William and Inverness; providing access to the hills, mountains, munroes and stunning forest walks. The village has : cafes, restaurants and the Caledonian Canal. The hosts are lovely and make you feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.
South Lodge
Great cottage in a perfect location right on the shore of West Loch Tarbert. Lovely peaceful spot with amazing views and wildlife on the doorstep.
Lilybank
We had a wonderful stay at Lilybank. The house is extremely comfortable, we had everything we needed and it is in a perfect position with wonderful views yet only a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend it.
Loch Cottage
A lovely cottage with a beautiful view over the Loch . The recently built porch was a perfect place to sit with a coffee looking at the view. The cottage is obviously being upgraded to a high standard and was clean and comfortable
Seal Skerry Lodge
Great location and views. Lovely house. Our dog loved the enclosed garden. But there didn't seem to be a vacuum cleaner! Hard floors throughout had to be swept with a brush which we found a bind and would put us off booking again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Seal Skerry Lodge. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents, we contacted the owner to discuss your feedback. The owners apologise for the lack of a vacuum cleaner during your stay. Unfortunately it had broken and they were in the process of sourcing a replacement, which will be at the cottage this weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience this caused.
Eilean Mor Cottage
Lovely cottage . We did expect better cleaning of fluff and cobwebs . We did expect a change of linen after the first week and a bit more than 5 logs for the stove . Lovely and quiet and very well placed for exploring .
Wilderness Cottages Replied...
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on your stay at Eilean Mor Cottage. We are glad to hear the positive aspects of your holiday and disappointed to hear you found some negative points. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents, we have contacted the owners to make them aware of your feedback, which they will investigate and where necessary make improvements. Only 5 logs was clearly an oversight and we are sorry about this, had this been communicated with the owner, they would have gladly supplied you with more along with providing a fresh change of linen. We encourage any issues to be brought to the attention of the cottage contact person or Wilderness Cottages during your stay.
Ceol na Mara
Wow what a beautiful cottage with views that you can only dream about. Everything about this cottage was fabulous, so cosy, warm and comfortable. Right on the Loch, just amazing. We had the best week here with our dogs, I can't recommend this cottage enough. We dropped on with the weather too. Very well stocked, a real home from home. Would love to venture back in Winter.
The Coltsfoots
Stayed in Coltsfoots last week, it is our 4th time staying, and probably not our last This is a great cabin, nicely furnished, and in a great spot. 5mins walk from Fort Augustus village, but you feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere, very peaceful Nicely situated for exploring the highlands, Inverness or even a day trip to Skye. We visited Fort William and the ski resort too 5* recommendation
The Granary
Our third stay in this fabulous cottage which really is a home from home. Nice walks from the door, village a few minutes away and easily accessible by road. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and warm and forms a great base from which to explore the Highlands or to just chill and relax. Hoping to return again in the future!
The Mill
We had a really great stay. The Mill was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed - with lovely views and plenty of room for our two dogs. It was situated in a great place for us to get into the Cairngorms from Aviemore and from Braemar - and to visit the Moray coast.
The Old Manse Barn

Earth House
Just had the most peaceful and relaxing week here. The location is unbeatable. Fabulous views and total privacy. Loved being able to walk straight out onto the beach. Also wonderful to sit inside and watch the ever changing scenery. Such an interesting property that provides everything you need, even down to a welcome bottle of wine!
Upper Folds
Upper Folds was beyond our expectations. What a beautiful house in a great location.

Would be very hard to beat the view from the cottage. Good for the soul!
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Once again a most enoyable stay. We look forward to re-visiting in 2025. Mike is a very considerate host and team at Wilderness cottages very helpful.
Ardbeg
Outstanding property characterized by its location, aspect, design and facilities. Very good housekeeping standards levels of comfort Compact for 6 adults, we were 4. perfect for a large family. Highly recommend.
The Challey at Heathcote
Our third stay at the Challey, Heathcote, and probably not our last. Again, a super week exploring the area, mostly the distilleries, with easy access to the Speyside Way for some walking and cycling. The cottage was cosy and comfortable, and ideal for two.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Fantastic cottage so well equipped with absolutely everything even a great stock of dry goods. Wonderful location with so much activity with yachts of all sizes going up and down the Caledonian canal. Would suggest you come with lots of bird food especially sunflower seeds. Spent a fortune on all sorts birds galore flocked in. Didn't want to encourage the pine martens but it was a joy to see them. Fort Agustus only 8 Miles away bird food can be bought at a hardware store on left as you go into town.Would definitely return. Our poodle loved his stay and his long walks along the canal . Just a little issue wasn't huge but the towels on the bed ground floor were damp not major tumble drier sorted it out. Huge thank you for letting us stay loved it
Coorie
This was our 3rd visit to Coorie which tells you just what a wonderful place it is. As we walk through the door we feel ourselves relax and unwind its starting to feel like a second home. The view from the windows is ever-changing whatever the weather. Coorie is very well equipped incredibly warm and comfortable. There is plenty to do on Skye,we swam in the sea at the white sand beach at the tip of the Sleat peninsula, and saw an eagle flying over Coorie We have already rebooked for our 4th visit, can't wait
Leachachan Cottage
Leachachan cottage is a true gem. Beautifully situated, tastefully renovated, superb quality of everything and very clean. The views are gorgeous, there is a lot of interesting things to explore on your doorstep and a bit further. We felt very welcome and taken care of. The apples from the trees in the garden make a great apple crumble. Would love to come back some day!
Katie's Cottage
Unfortunately, this property is no longer with Wilderness Cottages.
Shellach Cottage
Unfortunately we found Shellach Cottage to be very disappointing. There was a strong acrid small of soot in the living room which did not dissipate during the week despite leaving the door open and opening the window. The bathroom was shabby with mould around the bath and tiles and stained Lino on the floor. The beds were hard and uncomfortably with poor quality duvets. Other smaller things such as run down batteries in all the clocks also indicate that the property is poorly maintained. This is not the standard one should expect from a holiday cottage these days. The worst of it was a leak through the bathroom ceiling when a plumber had to be called out immediately. Wilderness Cottages have taken little notice of our comments so we will not be booking through them again.

Update - November 2024 Double bed and mattress has been replaced and maintenance work has been completed. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and feedback on Shellach Cottage. As Wilderness Cottages are the booking agents, we contacted the owner to discuss your feedback at the earliest opportunity. The owner acknowledged that there may be a smell of soot, that this is occasional and that it is common in older properties in the summer months if humidity levels are high outside. The chimney is checked & swept annually. The owner thanks you for your comments regarding the bathroom and bedding and apologies that you found them to be unsatisfactory. We understand that a leak from the water tank caused upset during your stay and we sincerely apologise for this. The owner contacted Wilderness Cottages at the time and alternative accommodation was offered to you in a nearby hotel whilst the leak was being appraised. We understand that you chose to continue with you stay at the cottage. We are disappointed to hear that you feel Wilderness Cottages have not addressed your comments with a more satisfactory outcome.
Charleston
We Visited the cottage first 18 years ago in 2006. We had a great stay then and had always wanted to come back - It didnt disappoint - It was as lovely now as then. The location suits us as it's away from everything with amazing views and walks from the Cottage, we are also wild swimmers and had a few lovley dips in the Loch's. The Cottage is warm comfortable and well equipped - Great stay and will definatly be back.
Seascape Cottage
Couldn't have asked for more , a perfect cottage for us and our 2 dogs . The most amazing setting the bay is a 5 min walk and basically was ours for the week with fields all around complete peace and quiet . The cottage had everything we needed, welcome basket appreciated, and even the dogs are thought of with covers to protect the chairs , towels, toys, etc . We really loved every day and can not fault the cottage , loved the area especially the daily forest walks available . Hope to return again , going to miss that view . Thank you
The Coltsfoots
Beautiful setting, lodge was very clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable.
Seascape Cottage
This is a lovely cottage - light, clean and warm - with a stunning view of the sea. It's a short walk down a farm track to the bay and inlets either side, and the footpath goes both ways along the coast from here. It's quiet, and dark enough at night to see the Milky Way (with a clear sky, of course!). Communication with Wilderness Cottages and the owner was excellent. Thank you.
