Leachachan Barn
We had a fabulous week in the gorgeous barn which is very comfortable warm and has great views We didn't know there was a piano which was a bonus The peace was what we went for and we got it - even a telescope for dark nights I dipped in the loch daily - best at high tide and you can use a paddle board if you bring one! We enjoyed all the books with local history and used the maps Ideal for a family as the twin beds are a mezzanine floor We had a couple of day trips to Skye which is amazing but a big day out We hope to return
The Artist's Cottage
Myself and my partner alongside my friend and her daughter rented The Artist's Cottage for 12 nights. The cottage was absolutely perfect for our needs, the large master bedroom with adjoining twin was like a suite, the lounge is very spacious with multiple seating areas, meaning we all had spaces to spread out when needed. The beds were very comfy. The cottage is in an excellent location, it feels remote being surrounded by the mountains but is within a short drive to Inverness. It is also easy to access the Highlands and all the activities on offer. We particularly enjoyed being able to go on walks right from the doorstep, whether that was a stroll in the community woodlands opposite or a hike into the surrounding mountains. Communication with the owner was excellent, they were very helpful with recommendations of places to eat and activities to do in the local area and answered any questions I had. I would highly recommend The Artist's Cottage whether you are looking to just get away from it all or you want an action packed holiday.
Oak Cottage
Perfect location, very quiet and yet accessible. Some very nice walks from the front door. The cottage is well equipped and provides everything you need and more. Killin is just around the corner with a Coop.
Ardbeg
What a lovely place to stay. Fantastic ever changing view. Gairloch is a great base to explore the local lochs, beaches and mountains. Property is a very high standard and has everything you need and more. Would love to return.
Strone
We had a lovey stay at Strone. The spotless cottage is really well located and very comfortable. It has a very well equipped kitchen and everything else we needed (including a handy airing cupboard for drying off wet boots). We also appreciated the welcome package of milk and cake and wine!). We did a lot of walking around Glen Affric and Glen Cannich and south of Loch Ness. Supermarket shopping is available in nearby Drumnadrochit and very good fish and chips in Fort Augustus after a nice walk along the canal and lochs. We'd definitely recommend it and would come again.
Learag
LEARAG is amazing, with fabulous scenery. Beautiful decked area with seating to sit in the sun, after returning from day trips. Everything about the house was perfect. Beautiful location on the Black Isle, with most lovely villages. Definitely hope to return soon!

Earth House
We love Earth House! Second visit - and won't be the last - quirky property with everything you need and Donald near by to answer any queries. It is in an ideal location on the shore with spectacular views and wildlife from the garden. Plenty of walks/ hikes and beaches nearby to explore. Great for dogs!
Balachladdich
Wow, wow, wow, what a wonderful holiday we enjoyed in your lovely cottage! The views from the windows are absolutely spectacular! There are so many wonderful lochs nearby to go boating (we brought our own water equipment) but we especially suggest Loch Achilty with its crystal clear water, and it goes deep extremely quickly, so its perfect for swimming. We have also gone down to Inverness, what a lovely city! It was very interesting to watch the barley being watered! This amazing stay at Balachladdich Cottage is surely going to fire us with energy for the upcoming year!
Loch Cottage
We stayed a week in Loch Cottage. It was a wonderful time: the place is very special, a lonely house located directly at a lake. There is no civilisation around, no other houses, just nature - just wonderful.
White-Tail Croft
It was not the best of weather during our stay but we did trips out every day and it was a pleasure to return to White Tail each evening with the superb and delightful views. Although not for us if you have children there are a selection of games, jigsaws etc There are a lot of mod cons and the plus points for us were Sky tv, good internet, Nespresso coffee machine and a must for me Tesla electric charger for the car. With a quite high spec the one improvement is provide containers for the sugar and tea bags also a supply of normal as well as decaf tea bags
Charleston
This is my second stay at Charleston - in 2007 and in 2024!! I will rate the service highly. Not to mention the breathtakingly beautiful landscape in this remote location in Scottish highlands. Will visit again!
The Granary
What a cosy cottage, clean and tidy. The welcome gift was a nice touch. The owner, Mhari lives next door and greeted us, and was always on hand if we had any questions. Plenty to do and very close to Drumnadrochit Hub. Highly recommend staying at The Granary.
Shore Cottage
Firstly the location of the property was first class. It was remote as expected. These are the only positive comments I can make. The property is in a very poor condition and needs some serious work to get it up to the standard expected on your website. There are no pictures of the bathroom on the site and now I know the reason for this. It reminded me of my nans bathroom from the 1970,s complete with original fittings and black mould in the shower area. The main lounge area includes an open fire which is in a very dangerous state. There are loose bricks just above the main fireplace and when you light a fire smoke leaks out directly into the lounge. The cottage welcome instructions talk about an alternative wood burner for use in the conservatory but looking into that area there is only a hole in the wall for the chimney. The kitchen area is dated and in a very dirty state with used pots and pans put away in the cupboards. The cottage requires a deep clean and also refurbishment generally to bring the property back up to a safe lettable condition. Regarding the exterior of the property the garden furniture turned up on Wednesday which is a positive. The description of the property talks about a two acre garden but what it fails to mention is that 95% of the 2 acres is inaccessible due to the vegetation that has now taken over the area.

Seabank Cottage
characterful cottage as opposed to modern but comfortable, well equipped, superb view of the loch from kitchen, (saw the otter and herons) we had wet weather so needed to use the heaters to keep the rooms warm and aired but no problem with that, village has good facilities and a couple of nice short walks locally
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Lovely cottage with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful owners. We enjoyed the yachts passing by, the wonderful area and lots of interesting sites and places to visit. Will definitely return to the Old Lock Keepers Cottage!
Tor Cottage
Wonderful stay at Tor Cottage. Very comfortable house and with a stunning view. There was nothing to beat watching the weather outside whilst warm and cosy inside. Thank you John and Ruth for a great stay.
The Granary
Fantastic stay at The Granary. Lovely cottage and every thing we needed was there. Very friendly and helpful owners.
The Challey at Heathcote
Charming apartment with a large picture window and a terrace from which to watch the red squirrels and plethora of birds in the private garden, situated in the beautiful Moray countryside. Ideal for a quiet and relaxing break.
Braehead Steading
Lovely accommodation at Braehead Steading, our stay was made even better by the fabulous large dog proof garden. We would highly recommend a stay here and look forward to returning.
Learag
Very pleasant stay. Cottage was superb, very clean, very tidy, all that one needs is available. The owners have excellent advice on trails to walk and events in the neighbourhood. A pity we had to leave..... 5 Stars, definately.
Stable Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday on the Lochnaw estate and especially appreciated the peace and tranquility of the estate and the location of Stable cottage, which is set amongst the very atmospheric woodlands of the Lochnaw estate, not far from Lochnaw Castle and a really beautiful loch, which has lovely areas of Monet-style lily ponds and is surrounded by woodlands and a mixture of shrubs and ancient trees, which give the castle and the grounds a very evocative and almost fairy tale-like quality. But this is a place of real and significant history and the grounds of Lochnaw Castle are very picturesque and the castle itself is very historic with several hundreds of years of history associated with it and the Agnew family who were resident there for hundreds of years. So, there is a feeling and sense of that history there and the estate is a really fascinating and interesting place to have the opportunity to rent a cottage and the cottage itself was a very good quality property and a unique place to have a holiday because of the lovely natural landscape around it and the history of the place. We all really appreciated the experience of being on the Lochnaw estate and being surrounded by nature, and especially enjoyed the opportunity to be close to nature and were delighted to sometimes see deer darting across our path and disappearing into the woodlands as we journeyed around the estate. Seeing the splendid historic architecture of Lochnaw Castle every day of the holiday and trying to find out more about its importance to the history of the area and its place within Scottish history was also an interesting and valuable part of our experience. Stable Cottage is a really lovely property and is very quietly situated near to the castle and is located in an old stable yard that had been built for the Agnew family of Lochnaw Castle in the mid- nineteenth century. Stable cottage is in a very atmospheric place amongst the peaceful woodlands of the Lochnaw estate and is approached by a driveway that passes both the castle and the loch, so there is a very scenic approach to the cottage. The sudden view of this amazing sixteenth century tower house castle and its gardens and grounds was absolutely beautiful and the journey to and from the cottage each day was for all of us a memorable and unforgettable experience! We all really enjoyed discovering all the wonderful woodland and loch side trails that there are to explore within the Lochnaw estate and the magnificent views of Lochnaw Castle from across the loch and loved the serene and tranquil views of its beautiful classically designed grounds and old-world gardens, which make you feel as though you have stepped back in time! The walled gardens are really lovely and have a great sense of this feeling and atmosphere. Old- fashioned wrought iron gates are at the entrance to the gardens and small turreted buildings at the corner of each garden and there was an orchard, with lines of fruit trees and an archway of roses that leads to the ornamental centrepiece of the garden, which was covered with roses. Seeing the historic architecture and experiencing the natural beauty of the Lochnaw estate is a wonderful part of the experience of staying at Stable Cottage and the cottage itself is a really lovely property with an excellent standard of accommodation and a beautiful and quite spacious kitchen and lounge. It is very clean and well-equipped and is a good-sized property, which has been tastefully furnished in keeping with its traditional surroundings. The lounge of the cottage has a French window, which opens onto the old stable yard and most evenings we enjoyed sitting outdoors at the patio table and chairs, which had been supplied for us. The roof of the stable yard has an old clock and a weathervane, and at the centre of the stable yard there is a lovely old tree, which adds to the atmosphere of the outdoor space around the cottage. Opposite the cottage there is another room in an old outbuilding within the stable yard, where there is a pool table and bar football for the family to enjoy. The interior of Stable cottage is comfortably and classically furnished, and the lounge has pale blue linen sofas, which fit in nicely with the coastal location of the cottage, which is not far from the lovely coast and beach at Larbrax bay, which is about a mile or two from the cottage. Larbrax bay is the most local beach to the cottage and has superb views of the Killantringan lighthouse in the distance and has a vast expanse of golden sand beach to explore and on a sunny day there are views towards the Irish coast. The bedrooms of Stable cottage were all a good size and were comfortably furnished with excellent quality fixtures and furniture and the main bedroom has a nice ensuite in addition to the main bathroom. The kitchen was spacious and traditionally styled with cream coloured kitchen units and the focus of the room was a large farmhouse style table, which was at the centre of the room and was a nice place for us to all gather around for our family meals. All aspects of the accommodation within Stable Cottage were of a very good and excellent standard and we would strongly recommend this is very charming and comfortable cottage as an ideal base for a holiday in the Rhins of Galloway. Apart from the property being a great place to stay, it also provides the opportunity to explore a number of very nice scenic beaches and coves in the area and also the wild windswept lighthouses at Corsewall Point, Killantringan bay and the Mull of Galloway, which is Scotland's most southerly point and a place of dramatic and magnificent cliff scenery. The lovely coastal village of Portpatrick is a twenty- minute drive from the cottage and has a beautiful, rugged coastal setting and has some hotels and a few shops and is a lively harbour village, with a golf course and putting green and the RNLI lifeboat is based there, and there were numerous organised activities going on to entertain the family, including a Sunday afternoon Zumba class! Dunskey castle is just along the coast from Portpatrick and is another amazing old castle with a history going back centuries and has a really magnificent, quite dramatic, and very rugged high clifftop setting, overlooking a steep rocky and shingle cove. The beautiful coves of Port Kale and Port Mora are also near Portpatrick and can be reached along the lovely, wooded valley of the Dunskey estate. Other amazing places to visit within a short twenty-minute drive from Stable cottage include the really beautiful Killantringan bay, which has a stunning panoramic view over a vast golden sand beach backed by high rugged cliffs. There are interesting rock formations on the beach below and a beautiful waterfall and a lovely view of the House of Knock, which is situated high up on the cliffs above the bay and was built by the Agnew family, who were connected with the Lochnaw Estate. Portamaggies cove is on the other side of the Killantringan lighthouse and bay and is a smaller cove with a little cottage on the beach. It has beautiful, rugged cliffs and some rock formations on the beach and there is a view of the Killantringan lighthouse high up on the clifftop above the cove. The view from the clifftop above Portamaggies cove is really beautiful and is a wonderful place for photography and the colour of the sea there on a sunny day is a lovely deep turquoise. About fifteen to twenty minutes from the Lochnaw estate is the village of Kirkcolm and Loch Ryan, which has a very quiet and peaceful shore were ships can be seen travelling to and from Ireland every now and then. It has an important history associated with the second world war and the story of the flying boats which were based there. Further along the coast in the southern Rhins of Galloway is the beautiful harbour and beach at Port Logan, which has wonderful cliff scenery, a wide sweep of bay and a fine sandy beach and a characterful row of very quaint coastal cottages just above the harbour and the lovely white sand shore. The old harbour wall and lighthouse is a really beautiful place to sit and relax and take in the lovely view of the harbour beach and all the boating activities and the lovely cliff scenery. Ardwell bay is near Port Logan and is another stunning bay and has another fine sandy beach and a wonderful view of the magnificent coastal cliff scenery right along the coast up to Portpatrick.
Log House
What a gem of a find - a comfortable cosy base with all the essentials and more for a stay, with great character and furnishings.A great place to explore from and come home to at the end of a day. The owner was really helpful and on leaving when we realised we had forgotten some treasured items he and the cleaner were so kind and got them back to us in a flash. We will be back and would recommend it as a great place to stay with a family. Our 2 young boys loved it and the layout/space inside and out worked perfectly for us.

The Granary
Great location, the cottage had everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable, after a long time hiking to come and relax was perfect. When we come to the Highlands again, we will definitely choose the Granary.
Ardbeg
Outstanding yet again - wonderful service from Wilderness cottages and a beautiful and relaxing property that had everything we needed for a truly magical holiday (our third time staying in this house) so much wildlife including badgers and pine martens on the patio - we hope to return again soon!
White-Tail Croft
White Tail Croft was absolutely perfect. We visited with our two young kids (2 and 4) and they really enjoyed watching the sheep and cows outside. They also loved the toys which were available. We loved the comfort of a fully equipped kitchen, the sauna, and last but not least the terrific views. We wished we could have stayed another week.
Cedar Cottage
As nature lovers and touring cyclists, we much appreciated the location and facilities of this delightful cottage.
Arrivain Cottage
We had a lovely stay in the cottage, it was very quiet and relaxing. Jacqui was very helpful and on hand when needed. We were quite lucky with the weather, which is always a good thing but on the days we stayed in, it was great to be able to relax. We hope to return in the future.
Stablemans Lodge
Comfortable and well equipped and very clean good location
Victoria Cottage
We love Victoria Cottage -, the house, the location, the village - and have stayed there several times. It was very good news that Wilderness Scotland took over the letting a few years ago.
Shore Cottage
Travelled with hubby and adult daughter and her boyfriend. Plus my large breed dog star. Cottage was much bigger than expected and very comfy with everything you need for a week. Beach was fantastic at bottom of garden and hardly see anyone else there even tho it's school holidays. I know alot of views moan about the track but personally found it great fun to drive and loved not knowing if I was going to come across a hare , deer or sheep on the next bend. Best location I have ever stayed in. If I had a say one slightly thing that could improve it would be a larger bed is needed in main room...otherwise perfect and will deffo return. Also a side note to anyone who has older teens with them like I did was if you sit in conservatory right by the door you pick up good enough signal on 3 network to be able to use as personal hotspot so they can access the internet .
The Challey at Heathcote
We had a lovely stay! The setting and furniture was very cozy and thoughtful. We had many rainy days during our stay, but that was no problem at all because of the great accommodation. The owners thought of many things you often forget. For example there were paper towels in the kitchen and valuable salt and pepper. They also placed shortbred and fresh flowers as a welcoming gift.
Sealight
Sealight is a true gem. Everything and much more to ensure your holiday is perfect. The pine martins nightly visit are magical. Sealight is a place to relax and watch the breathing taking scenery. We loved our holiday and will be back as soon as we can x
