Seascape Cottage
An amazing place to spend a week - view across the sea, beach less than 5 minutes walk away and a beautiful area. Plenty or wildlife on land, sea and air to enjoy and enjoyable walks from the cottage if you don't want to take the car out. The cottage itself is very well appointed and comfortable, excellent basket of goodies to welcome guests and the neighbours are all very welcoming. The owner, Sarah, is incredibly friendly and helpful - we'll certainly be back.
Learag
Our stay at Learag was as close to perfect as we could have imagined. Even the weather was favourable, which is always a bonus in this beautiful area. The house itself was in a very useful location for visits in the surrounding area - it was in exceptional condition, very clean and tidy. Everything we needed was supplied and was of very nice quality. Evelyn and Bryden had obviously given a lot of thought into how the place was presented. Visits from their very friendly little dog, Nova, also helped to make this stay memorable. Highly recommended.
Learag
Beautiful relaxing house in lovely peaceful location with all amenities required. Great outside space with plenty seating areas. Everything first class. Look forward to returning.
Pityoulish Cottage
wonderful place to stay, views from the windows and garden are incredible. Made full use of the garden room as the sunset. Swam most days in the loch opposite the cottage. Lovely clean, bright, quiet place to stay in a stunning location
Upper Folds
Upper Folds is the most idyllic place to stay to de-stress and take in the awesome beauty of nature at it's very best. I would not hesitate for a moment in recommending a stay here. Everything is just perfect, clean and beautifully presented. With it being a very dry summer we did contemplate taking a 'normal' car but thankfully after receiving a video from the owner - very helpful indeed - we're very glad we did take our 4x4 - it's most definitely needed. Don't get caught out.....you have been warned. We had the BEST week weather-wise too. And who says it rains in Scotland?:) We returned home looking as if we'd spent a week on the continent.
The Granary
The Granary was ideal for our family holiday. It had everything we needed and was clean, tidy and cozy. It is in a great location with lots to do in and around Drumnadrochit or within a relatively short drive. Plodda Falls in Glen Affric, dolphin watching at Chanonry Point and cycling beside the Caledonian Canal just three highlights.
Coorie
Our first word as we went through the door was, "wow!" This "cabin" is both fantastic and slightly aggravating.... Fantastic because it's so very comfortable, beautifully equipped and very tastefully decorated but slightly aggravating because you just know that your wife will be logging away all the lovely features and insist they are added to your own (now slighly down-graded) home. The comfort here is amazing; the weather on Skye is unpredictable to say the least but inside Coorie its always warm and quiet, despite half of one side being glass. Talking of glass... the view is to die for. The rocky shore is about 300yds away and can be reached fairly easily through the bracken. The bathroom; luckily we've changed our bathroom in the last 8 months or so (after a holiday in Yorkshire!). Good job too because the bathroom is large and the bath big enough to replace the ferry from Kylerhea! The bed was large and comfortable (Audrey took a photo of the mattress label so that we can get one!) and was always a comfortable temperature and quiet, despite us having stormy weather and very mild nights. The surrounding area was perfect for us... plenty of wildlife, very quiet and beautiful views. In 30 years of travelling around various parts of the UK, we have NEVER had a property this good. It's absolutely amazing and shouldn't be judged by it's cabin-like appearance from the outside. You MUST take binoculars and you WILL fight over the view from the armchair in front of the window. We are now at home in Dorset and Audrey is preparing me a, "to do", list. Joking aside, this place is fabulous.
Balachladdich
This was our second year at ballachladdich. It's a wonderfully appointed house which easily accommodates two families. The position is perfect to explore the black isle and more while having a lovely quiet location. Will definitely return again sometime soon. The Abernethy's and Cochrans.
Plodda Falls Lodge
We just spent a magical week at Plodda Falls Lodge. Jenny was wonderfully welcoming and the cake was a particularly lovely touch at the end of a long drive! The cottage is very comfortable and set in an incredibly special location. The walks straight from the garden are simply beautiful, and it was the perfect base to explore the wider area. The walk around Loch Affric is stunning and another highlight was a canoe trip through the Aigas Gorge.
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
Very nice holiday home
Ceol na Mara
We enjoyed our stay at Ceol na Mara very much. The house has everything you might need, is very clean and comfortable. The views are excellent and we had the added interest of the dry dock at Kishorn opening to move a vessel out into the bay. Deers visit to forage along the edge of the beach most mornings and evenings and we saw an otter in the loch one evening. The area is beautiful with lots of fantastic walking opportunities. 10 out of 10 - we would highly recommend.
Poulary Cottage
Our 24th visit to Poulary! We've been coming here every year since 2008. The cottage is perfect, home from home! You can't beat the ever changing view from the dining room, it's stunning. The bird table is very busy from morn till night. Regular visits at night from the pine martens and occasionally in the daytime too! Also foxes, badgers and weasel seen in the garden. Osprey and buzzards overhead and deer in the grounds of the cottage. Perfect, its a stunning place to visit any season of the year whatever the weather. There are lots of walks close to the cottage and the cottage is central in the highlands to visit lots of places. Wilderness cottages is a brilliant company to deal with, always excellent communication, thank you Brian. Thanks to Ian and Lyndie for sharing your cottage, we love it and will be back again soon.
Cedar Cottage
What an absolute gem of a cottage ! Set in beautiful setting on the Dava way. The cottage was immaculate, perfect ! If you want peace and quiet this is the ideal place. The only traffic to pass the cottage were cyclists, walkers and horses from the nearby stables. The garden was perfect, I booked Cedar cottage mainly because of reviews about red squirrels, we were not disappointed, 2 squirrels were on the feeders 10 minutes after we arrived. We spent many a hour sitting on the patio watching them. We visited lots of harbours and beaches dolphin spotting, lots of walks around the cottage. Lots of places to visit in the area .Loved the welcome gift of wine, chocolates and biscuits. Hopefully we will return to this gem of a cottage. Thank you.
Tor Cottage
A lovely place to stay, owner very welcoming. Great facilities only thing that let it down was the beds. Double was rock hard and our daughter in the single had springs poking at her
Charleston
As ever a wonderful relaxing stay at Charleston. A place we keep being drawn back to. Have made many wonderful memories staying here with family and our dogs over the years. Stayed in spring summer and autumn, every season beautiful. As I've said before I hate leaving a good review as we always struggle to get booked now! thanks for the lovely stay
Arrivain Cottage
Lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting. Perfectly placed for visiting the surrounding area with Oban, Glencoe, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs all easily accessible. We loved the comfortable bed and amazing shower, well equipped kitchen and daily visits from red squirrels and birds. Highly recommend!
Don Cottage
Taffs Barn
Great cottage with everything we needed. Lovely views of the surrounding countryside and a super place to relax and explore the Black Isle. Beautifully maintained in a perfect location.
Cala
I really enjoyed my stay at Cala. The house is amazing, almost perfect. It is well-equipped and there are instructions available for all equipment. The views over Loch Nedd and Quinag are ever-changing and provide a fabulous panorama. The sheep around (and under!) the house are entertaining, if sometimes able to generate curious noises. There's plenty of wildlife to be seen from the house - binoculars are a must to take advantage of the seals, birds, deer (including swimming deer on Loch Nedd) and otters. I understand the idea behind no blinds but I would prefer a blind in the bedroom - it's not inconceivable that somebody might wander to the front of the house. The broadband was very unstable when I was there - at times so wobbly that it wasn't possible to do a basic search to book a boat trip.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Old Lock Keepers Cottage is probably the nicest cottage we have had in the 20 years we have used Wilderness Cottages it has everything we look for in a holiday home. It coped with 6 big people and a big dog comfortably even the tight staircase wasn't really an issue, the location is perfect with just the right amount of passing walkers, cyclists and boats. The fishing in the river was excellent if not a little expensive, we also witnessed a 30lb pike being caught in the canal so all in all a really nice week we will definitely book again for next year.
Leachachan Barn
This is a beautiful property set in a picturesque location. Everything about it was brilliant, we loved the fire after a day of exploring, and the bottle of Talisker was a lovely touch. The property has ample facilities for a week or 2 away, the road in front of the barn isn't too busy, but its worth noting the barn is a short distance away from a Salmon fishery so you do get workers etc travelling down at various points. Its in a stunning location with easy access to a lot of things to do. We took a drive to Talisker beach, it was rainy throughout but still stunning, the drive down to the small parking area was bumpy and it seems that the local landowner has a slight issue with people parking up as he suggested the council come down regularly to ticket vehicles. You can actually see Eillean Doonan castle from the front garden if you squint, and if you follow the road to the left in front of the house you get a great view of the castle from the opposite side of the loch. The castle has a lovely cafe serving decent food, and there is a bakehouse a short distance away too. The CO-OP at Kyle of Lochalsh has a good selection of food and nibbles if you run out. Well worth a mention is the beach at Glenelg, lovely wide sandy beach with some fantastic views. We always travel with our little dogs, one of which has mobility issues, so we can't take her on huge walks. it was just nice to lay on the huge comfy sofas and watch the loch. Well worth the journey from South Yorkshire. Thanks for letting us stay
The Coltsfoots
We had a great week at The Coltsfoot, it was such a peaceful location with nature all around. We had a visit from a family of deer and a pheasant and heard the fox calling in the early evening. The Coltsfoot has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing week. Close to many lovely walks it combines tranquility with easy access to Fort Augustus and the local walks and hikes.
Glenara
The Stables
We spent a lovely week at The Stables to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It's a perfect retreat for a couple, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Crail has all the local amenities you need & perfect for an evening walk. It's also ideally situated for visiting the coastal fishing villages & venturing further afield to Edinburgh, Perth & Dundee. We're already planning another holiday in the area with the family next year.
Seascape Cottage
Our family had a wonderful holiday, this is an exceptional cottage. Highly recommended.
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
Had a great week in Skye, accomodation was first class, all amenities where catered for and the location was so nice. Local beaches were explored and enjoyed, actually saw a deer walking past the cottage. Could not fault the area for a base on the island. Would love to stay again ????
Eilean Mor Cottage
Eilean Mor cottage is well kitted out and beautifully situated. We saw seals and dolphins in the bay. It is a comfortable, cosy and scenic base.
The Coltsfoots
We had a lovely week at The Coltsfoot. The Log cabin is superb, very comfortable and with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The peace and tranquility is wonderful as are the visits from the deer, fox and other assorted wildlife that wander by. Lots of great walks through the woodland and by the river. We also had glorious weather which was a bonus.
Seal Skerry Lodge
We had a great few days at Seal Skerry Lodge. It's a fab location looking out over the sea - so beautiful and peaceful and the house is full of light. It is very well equipped with everything you need for cooking and eating together. The beds are comfy, the shower is powerful and the bath is deep! We didn't have any rainy days but there are games and books too. We went on a walk right round the headland straight from the house and also fishing and kayaking.
Christies
Seal Skerry Lodge
The cottage is wonderfully located with an exceptional view of the sea. We had a very pleasant stay, the cottage is very comfortable, very well equipped. All around, we made very pleasant walks.
North Lodge
Our 4th time at Lochnaw Estate in last 2 years, previously at Stable Cottage and Shore Cottage. The estate and surrounding area is great - especially if you like a quiet rural holiday - no big cites or major attractions, which is a plus for us. North Lodge is not as 'luxurious' as Stable Cottage, and can't match the great location of Shore Cottage, but nicely done with good kitchen, bathroom etc, and we had a good and enjoyable stay.
Ardrannach
An incredibly beautiful, unique view. Still close to portree, 30 minutes on foot. spacious, functional and yet quite cozy house. Friendly hosts. We would like to come back
The Granary
Great place to stay. It has everything you need for total comfort.
Log Ness
Our party of five had the most wonderful time at Log Ness. Two weeks of sheer bliss. Thank you so much for sharing this magical home with us. Everything anyone could ever need was supplied. And Log Ness was absolutely immaculate. The view is amazing and ever changing. We explored lots of Scotland and Log Ness was the perfect base. We were even visited by a deer over two evenings! Thank you once again - The Aston family.
Earth House
One of the most relaxing holidays I've had was staying here at the Earth house...peacefulness and stunning ever-changing views and wildlife. The house is so quirky and caters for all your needs, highly recommend if you want a get away from it all holiday.
Sixgeary
Sixgeary is well equipped and very comfortable. The house is always cosy due to the underfloor heating. It is great for a relaxing stay, no matter what the weather is like. There are amazing views from the house. This was my second visit and I plan to return.
Shore Cottage
This is a repeat visit from last year and didn't disappoint. Great location and cottage. Love the new decking Gus. We saw porpoises, watched baby swallows learning how to fly. Magic and restorative. We will be back. Thank you!
Log House
Once again a great visit to the log cabin, a peaceful lovely holiday in a great setting, what more can you ask for.
Taigh Druim
Stable Cottage
Stable Cottage is the perfect getaway if you are looking to disconnect from the stresses of modernity! It is set in a truly tranquil spot, surrounded by woodland and only a few minutes drive from a very beautiful, secluded beach. We spent a very relaxing week there and left feeling recharged. The cottage itself is well kept and comfortable with three good sized bedrooms, a very spacious kitchen diner and a large living room; there was more than enough room for the six of us. We would highly recommend Stable Cottage and hope to return soon!
Poulary Cottage
Once again another fabulous holiday with Wilderness Cottages. We couldn't have wished for better, the cottage was stunning and we will return again next year. Highly recommended to use this company for your next Scottish holiday
The Granary
We had a wonderful stay at The Granary. We are a family of 4 and the setup was perfect - truly a home-from-home. The cottage is just a short walking distance to cafes, restaurants, gift shops and the Post Office and we also managed to watch our first game of Shinty. Absolutely recommend The Granary to anyone visiting the Loch Ness area.
Lilybank
Lilly Bank cottage was clean comfortable well furnished and in an ideal location over looking the river and Loch Ness. The cottage was a short walk into the village which had a well stocked supermarket as well as a pharmacy and of course the many gift shops. One minor problem was the fact there were no razor sockets to re-charge and electric razor or toothbrush. Otherwise it was a wonderful and very well equipped with crockery, pans etc. We would certainly look at booking the cottage again should we visit that area.
Fhaireag
Callakille
Callakille is in an idyllic location on the Applecross Peninsula, views across to the Isle of Skye, nothing nearby except sheep, Highland cattle, birds and if you're lucky a seal just offshore. The cottage is very well-equipped, comfortable beds, and a bathroom with a heated floor and free-standing bath where you soak away the day's aches while looking out to sea, possibly with the most glorious sunset. Applecross Inn 8 miles down the road, beautiful drive round the top to Torridon and many more breathtaking places to explore.
Stablemans Lodge
Beautiful lodge in a central location in the town. Stabelmans was spotless, with everything you could need for an enjoyable holiday. We had a lovely welcome basket on our arrival and will definitely book again.
Seabank Cottage
Enjoyed a lovely week in Seabank Cottage . Absolutely wonderful. Extremely well equipped and also had some essential dry goods in the cupboard . Spotlessly clean. Ideally situated on the shores of the Loch. Wonderful Spar nearby. Great location for touring . So pleased we managed to have this gem of a cottage for a holiday . Our a poodle was very happy plenty lovely walks . Thank you
Loch Cottage
This year was our 12th stay in 14 years to Loch Cottage. We discovered it by chance driving past and then seeing it in an old school Visit Scotland brochure. Its become a big part of our kids growing up and everytime we go, we melt into the location. Swimming, kayaking and walks in the woods. Morning coffee drinking in the view and a glass of wine watching the water go calm and sunset colour the opposite bank. Bike rides from the door, with a pint in the Old Bridge Inn before heading back to the cottage. It really is the most beautiful place.
Learag
Learag is a beautiful luxurious house in a wonderful country setting, everything within is so very clean & comfortable. The patio decking is great for soaking up the sunshine no matter what time of day. Great country road cycling. The Red Kites were amazing to watch & listen to their 'tunes' ! Would love to visit in the Wintertime too.
