Ceol na Mara
Very comfortable cottage right on the shore of Loch Kishorn. Comfortable bed, and living room, well equiped kitchen. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge, looking through the living room window, watching the weather travel across the loch. There is a track down past the house to park the car on the side of the house, and space on the road above. Nearest shop is Loch Carron approx 7 miles away. Good communication with the owner. Beautiful walks and cycle rides, hardly any traffic around.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Very clean, warm and comfortable cottage. In a lovely quiet setting with some nice local walks. All the essentials needed were provided. (It is definitely best to arrive in daylight. The weir when shallow water is flowing over is safe to cross but would be a bit unnerving if you arrived in the dark). We visited for a joint pearl anniversary and have loved our week at the old lock keepers cottage. Thank you
Charleston
If we could give 10 stars we would. What an amazing week we have had. The pooches loved the garden and never once bothered with the sheep. Views from every window are breathtaking , the cottage itself was so cozy warm and clean and the beds so comfortable. The showers are brilliant. Not one single complaint. That good we are booking for next year.
Shore Cottage
Fantastic location, peaceful and relaxing with superb quiet beach literally on your doorstep. Cottage is spacious and well equipped. Decor could use a little attention but nothing that should worry anyone. The road in was fine in a Skoda Yeti 4x4. Not sure would attempt in anything with less ground clearance and in anything but ideal weather 4 wheel drive is required. Our holiday snaps https://youtu.be/U36v5tQcCVc?si=ZCN60CgodwFBhCH3 should give some idea of the location.
Coorie
Our second time staying at Coorie and it was as lovely as the first time. Being there in the winter, the excellent heating system and cosiness was just perfect. No bin liners provided and also no dishwasher tablets so remember to take your own if you're staying. The heated towel rail was broken so the tumble dryer came in handy. Overall a lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful spot.
Wilderness Cottages Replied...
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feeback on Coorie. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have contacted the owner who apologised that there were no bin liners and dish washer tablets, as they are normally provided . They are aware that heated towel rail needs a new heating element which has been ordered and will be in full working order again shortly.
Seahorses
Seahorses is a stunning place within a jaw dropping location and scenery. The property was extremely comfortable and cosy and one of the best equipped places we have stayed. This includes very well equipped kitchen, loads of local guide books and maps, a huge DVD library, torches, binoculars, viewing and star gazing scopes etc. we were snowed in for nearly 5 days before the local snow plough could clear the road which was gorgeous just to sit and enjoy the scenery. Just make sure you have plenty of supplies and logs for the fire. The owner and housekeeper were really nice and helpful, and some of the locals were really nice and offered help in the snow if we needed it. We will definitely return sometime to do some local touring, which the Scottish winter stopped us doing this time.
Seal Skerry Lodge
Stunning house in a beautiful and remote part of Skye. The local walking and the incredible shop at Glendale (5 mins away) meant that we could really unwind and not drive every day. The house is warm and well built and tasteful. The weather in Skye is of course 4 seasons in a day (in January), but that is part of the romance and appeal. My only comment (and it is just that and others have also remarked) is that for 4 adults who like to cook and enjoy food there could be a bit more kitchen equipment and cutlery and crockery. But overall a well deserved 5 star review. Faultless service as always by Wilderness Cottages who are always great.
South Lodge
Beautiful cottage we stayed at in March 2023. It was still quite chilly at the time and the cottage does not keep warmth very long. It is fully equipped and has everything one needs. In front of the house, there is a bench from where you can look at the sea and enjoy nature and wildlife. Beautiful and remote spot to relax!
Shore Cottage
During this our fifth stay at the cottage I had occasion to contact the owners. Their response was excellent, really helpful which is very reassuring.
Seal Skerry Lodge
We had the amazing pleasure of spending one week at Seal Skerry Cottage on the Isle of Skye from the 18th-25th of November 2023. We cannot recommend the is cottage enough. We loved it so much that we have already booked to go again this winter, and cannot wait. We arrived after dark to the living room heater being on to welcome us, which was a lovely touch. Along with a really nice bottle of wine to enjoy infront of the log fire. All areas of the cottage wear spotlessly clean, plenty of clean towels and a very powerful shower. The local area of Glendale village is just a 10 minute drive away with a local shop, post office and cafe. The stars at night were a dream to sit and watch. The owners should be very proud of what they have achieved. They have truly created a home from home feel. See you again at the end of the year and thank you from our girls and doggies too. The Morgan Family.
Sealight
Wow, what a place. We were snowed in for 4 days but sealight was the perfect place to experience this, FAULTLESS! Would highly recommend!

Seal Skerry Lodge
Our five week stay at Seal Skerry Lodge was magnificent. We felt welcomed and were looked after. The amenities were more than adequate. The view across to Dunvegan Head and out to the Outer Hebrides was especially spectacular - in all weather! Thank you!
South Lodge
Nice relaxing cottage. Good area for walking and bird watching .We really enjoyed our stay.

Oak Cottage
Excellent cottage, just as described. Warm and comfortable amidst peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Welcome items were appreciated.
Upper Folds
Fabulous place to see in the new year 2024! Last visited in 2019 and was exactly as we remembered. Off grid de- stress with added snow to complement the picture postcard view. The 4 wheel drive vehicle was definitely a requirement on this visit!
Swallow Byre

Leachachan Barn
Our 2nd time at the barn and another lovely relaxing week over New Year. Lots of walking, running, yoga, meditation and chess by the fire. The barn is beautiful, has everything you need and is in an excellent location, Will be back!
Upper Folds
Our 3rd December stay at Upper Folds and once again we had the most Magical time! I am sure that it won't be our last This place is truly beautiful, the owners always go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. We chose Upper Folds as it is a perfect stay if you have a dog, Mr Winston LOVED his stay here, roaming on the Moors, attempting Ben Rinnes which is all on your doorstep. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful stay in Scotland this is the place to go.

Braehead Steading
Party of 6 from 2yrs to 62yrs! What an amazing place to spend Xmas???? photos do not do justice to this property, it's huge, it's warm and comfortable, got everything you need and few things you didn't realise you needed. It's beautifully decorated and immaculately finished but homely at the same time. Absolutely loved it. We thinking about visiting again in the summer, if this is the standard of Wilderness Cottages properties we'll definitely be using one of their properties.
Leachachan Barn
We very much enjoyed our stay at Leachachan Barn. The property is beautifully renovated and has superb views. We found our stay very relaxing. Also, we found the barn was very well kitted out. It was really helpful that items such as plenty of washing up liquid, toilet rolls, salt & pepper etc. were provided. This was really useful. Overall, a very unique property. I would highly recommend.
The Coltsfoots
Wonderful hosts, wonderful log cabin. Love the location as central for visits to Skye, Aviemore and Fort William. Digs spotlessly clean and well- resourced.
Charleston
This is a lovely spacious, warm house with the most amazing views. Wildlife is in abundance around the house and the dark sky was amazing for star gazing. A true wilderness location. The only negative for us is the mattress in the master bedroom is ready for replacement but it wouldnt put us off staying again. I think this was the 8th time we have booked through wilderness and they are very efficient, we have never had an issue, highly recommended.
Beach Lodge
We had the most amazing time. Wilderness cottages and the owners were accommodating and extremely helpful. we have a reactive and anxious dog so having the capacity to walk off lead (when there were no other animals around of course) was just a special experience for us and obviously the dog. The beach is just wonderful and when the tide is out you can walk quite a long way. The cows didn't come down to graze once during our stay although the deer did and, we only met one other person on the beach during our weeks stay. The cottage is well equipped and warm, in fact so warm our first job was to go around and turn all the radiators down when we arrived. We thought the decor and furniture was good quality and the only thing that would have made our trip top class would be upgrading the sofa seating and mattresses as they were a little uncomfortable. The water pressure isn't great in the showers upstairs so would recommend the downstairs shower which is reasonable. we managed to get down the road in a fully loaded Honda CRV so it is higher than other cars. We did make it although you need to take it very slowly. We would definitely recommend this place.
Wildwood
We had a really great stay at this property. It is a large property with 4 bedrooms [2 upstairs/2 downstairs], and is very private/homely. It is in a remote setting, though still within very close reach of Fort Augustus [20 mins walk], and several great walks into this hills [great views of Loch Ness], into the forests, and along the river Oich. The large lounge on top floor [accessible from the spiral staircase] gives great views on to the forest. and the wood-burner gives a great heat. 4 double settees very comfortable. Enough starter wood / firelighters / matches were provided. Downstairs, the large kitchen is well stocked and all needed white goods are there. Leading outside is a large room for hanging jackets, dirty boots, etc [and its also part of kitchen]. We bought a large bag of sunflower hearts and spent hours watching the numerous birds from the decking [mainly finches and blue tits] coming to feed. We got some great slo-mo videos. We just loved the amount of space/room in the cabin and would definitely choose this place for a future break in Fort Augustus.
Ceol na Mara
A cosy little cottage in a stunningly beautiful setting. We enjoyed our stay very much. We were lucky with the weather and had a calm and relaxing time. Lovely walks around the area finished off with delicious soup and baking served at the Waterside Cafe in Lochcarron!
Leachachan Cottage
I could just say this cottage is perfect and leave it at that, but that wouldn't tell you anything about the attention to detail that has gone into making this place just right. Neither would it tell you about how comfortable Fann and Murdo have made this cottage. It would also miss out letting you know about the magnificent view, it really is amazing, from the side of the Loch to the mountains. It wouldn't tell you about how well equipped this cottage is, nor would it tell you about the exciting wildlife that visits every evening. And I mustn't forget the lovely story of the cottage's heritage. The love, thought and care that has gone into the restoration of Leachachan Cottage is clear to all. All I can really tell you is, be prepared to be amazed, because you will be.
Lilybank
Perfectly perfect. The cottage was everything we wished for and more. Warm, cosy, lovely setting and beautifully equipped.

The Granary
Stayed at this wonderful cottage in the October half term, what a great find . While it may not be wilderness, it is very peaceful in situation but we liked the fact you could walk into the village for amenities. The cottage itself is just fabulous. The quality of furnishings are some of the best compared to other cottages we have stayed in . The place was immaculate, every attention to detail had been made . Everything was there that youd need for a home from home stay . It was super warm and cosy . Drumnadrochit is central to all places to visit, north or south . If you book this cottage you will not be disappointed. We've stayed in many over the years and this one is by far one of the best
South Lodge
Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Spotted otters every morning. Arrived to delicious scones and homemade jam. Only drawback was the road into the property. A robust vehicle is definitely required.
Drumfad Barn

Leachachan Cottage
A beautiful cottage in a stunning location with amazing views. We loved the wildlife which visited the cottage too. We'll definitely make return visit. Just to note, there is no television, which didn't bother us, as we had the pine martens for entertainment. Haste us back.
North Lodge
Lovely, quiet, cosy cottage in spectacular surroundings. Thoroughly enjoyed our week at North Lodge. Lovely walks around the estate, plenty of birds around the cottage. No squirrel sightings unfortunately but did see deer. Cottage was well equipped, with very comfy beds. Only issue and its being picky, with the weather turning colder, would be the draft coming in through the back door and the draft excluder provided is a couple of inches too short to stop the draft completely. Other than that, no complaints at all. Close to Stranraer for anything needed. Port Patrick is only 15 mins drive and the Mull of Galloway lighthouse is worth a visit. We would definitely book to stay here again.
Ardbeg
We have booked again for next year. This will be our 4th visit to Ardbeg. Guess that is all that needs said. Highly recommended.
Charleston
This is our fourth time staying in this cottage and it wont be our last. It was wonderful as usual. Cottage is well laid out and has spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. If youre looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday, this is the one to choose.
Cedar Cottage
We had a lovely stay at Cedar Cottage & highly recommend a stay at the cottage. We will be looking to book again.
Shore Cottage
The cottage and its location provided the ultimate in getting away from the world and turning our backs on tech! Very comfortable spaces and the cottage is a really nice temperature despite it being cold outside. Grading as a 4 as a couple of things could do with being updated but nothing major or anything that would put us off from staying again.
Earth House
The Earth House blew us away. We absolutely loved it and 2 days into our week there we'd already booked up a fortnight the following autumn! Super practical, a fabulous location and phenomenal views......Great kitchen too.
Ardrannach

Cala
Our second visit to this excellent architectural home in a stunning location. Absolutely perfect for totally getting away from a busy World, enabling us to slow down and relax. Taking a trip to Sandwood Bay really added to the sense of remoteness and it was a real shame we ended up leaving a day early, but that was due to Storm Babet. I suspect we will return again!
Learag
A fantastic house in a fantastic, peaceful location. It feels remote but provides quick and easy access to whatever amenities you need and wherever you wish to visit. Very well equipped, furnished to a high standard and spacious. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Dozens of Munros and Corbetts are within an hour's drive if, like us, you love hill walking. Lots of wildlife in the surrounding areas and even a Red Kite circling above the garden!
Easter Knocklea Cottage
Fantastic cottage in an idyllic location. You absolutely need a robust vehicle in bad weather however we were in a 4 x 4 so ok. Our dogs were safe around the cottage off lead and the surrounding area is incredibly peaceful. Neighbouring cottage did not overlook ours despite reading this in other reviews! One small issue was the beds were quite small for us as we are used to a super king however all bedding and towels provided were spotless as was the remainder of the cottage. Kitchen incredibly well equipped and owners have thought of everything including a Tin with first aid kit items in downstairs bathroom. Overall a very pleasant stay and housekeeper Mahri was very helpful and returned an item of clothing in the post that we left behind by accident. Thank you Mahri! And thank you to Selma the owner too in checking the cottage was accessible due to recent flooding before we set off on our long journey, very responsive and much appreciated. Would highly recommend and consider returning ourselves again in the future. ????
Tor Cottage
Tor Cottage is in a beautiful location, with stunning views and is very well equipped and maintained. We had a great week. Ruth and Rob are very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our week in Tor Cottage. I'd also say thanks to Wilderness Cottage, it was so nice dealing with real, helpful people (unlike some other holiday companies).
Eilean Mor Cottage
Spacious cottage with open plan kitchen/conservatory. Very clean and comfortable. With the cottage being detached, and surrounded by woodland/greenery, relaxation came very easily. Despite its' rural location, The Wi-Fi was stable and consistently good, as was the TV and mobile phone reception. We enjoyed this cottage so much that we have re-booked for next year
The Coltsfoots
WHAT A HIDDEN GEM !!!!!! Comfortable ,cosy and felt so remote ,yet we were 10 minutes walk from Fort Augustus village. The Coltfoots was very well equipped and clean and so spoilt with two king size bedrooms with en suite Had a glimpse of the shy red sqirrels ,but deer came into the garden most evenings. Even the weather was kind to us as 'Storm Babet' was hitting most of the UK. Definitely worth a return stay one day ????
Earth House
Unique and fun house to be in for a holiday. Great views of the bay and islands from the living room, and well protected from the evening storms with the house being partially built into the slope. Great for 2 people, but would not be so good for 4 - the 2nd bedroom was quite gloomy, it's only got a skylight.
