This was our first stay at Sealight and we were not disappointed in any way. It is a beautiful, large property with everything you could possibly want or need for a comfortable stay, and with a view to impress. The wildlife watching kept us busy, with birds, deer and pine martens. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at Sealight.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would not hesitate to return or to recommend it. The location is peaceful with pretty, gentle views and it is well situated for touring the rest of Skye. The cottage is well equipped, warm and comfortable, though with mild, sunny weather we didn't put the wood burning stove to the test. The lack of curtains in the living area was initially off putting but as we got used to it we wouldn't have wanted to block out the views with curtains. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay - we'd love to come back.

Plodda Falls Lodge

We recently stayed at Plodda Falls Lodge near Tomich. This is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed at. The location is stunning with forest walks from the back door, a beautiful garden and peace and quiet. The cottage has a great atmosphere reflecting the history of the area - and everything is as you would expect in your own home. The host Jenny is incredibly welcoming and hospitable and we left feeling that we had made a new friend. We will be returning again soon.

Seascape Cottage

We all have different wants and needs from the place we are going to call home for a short period, We wanted Wilderness!, hence the website, we wanted by the coast, hence "seascape", we wanted seclusion, peace and an environment opposite to our manicured grasslands, inland farming location. To have all this I expected we would have to compromise on something, perhaps bed comfort, water temperature, view etc, How wrong I was, Seascape delivered on everything and in all cases surpassed all expectations. The complementary welcome pack was a lovely surprise, the cottage was homely, well equipped, Sarah was a delight! Location, well where else can you watch the solan goose diving for fish " from your bed" If you have a love for the wild and woolly rugged west coast with its secret bays and rocks, tides and changeable weather, this cottage does what it says on the tin. Go and experience, you will not regret it, and probably remember it for ever. ( Note! Pubs and shops a short drive) just stock up. Advice! do not take the sports car as you may lose the exhaust going down the lane. Enjoy

2nd stay here. Still love it. It was like we were here last week. Still exactly the same. Full of rustic charm. Track down to it is getting pretty rough but can be negotiated with care. The weather this time was amazing. We even got a little sunburnt lazing on the decking & long beach walks with our crazy collies Jess & Macy. Once again... this location is so secluded & just stunning. Plenty of wildlife around, deer on the surrounding hills & in the garden ( Macy wasn't a fan ), Cows, rabbits, birds of prey, red squirrels, fox, pheasants. No wi-fi & almost no cell phone signal.. loved it. Will hopefully return next year.

After holidaying in these parts for many years we come away from our break at Plodda Lodge feeling just a little bit smug and quietly triumphant that we have finally managed to find possibly the loveliest, peaceful and secluded holiday home we could have wished for. This home exceeds expectations and is a true 'home from home' with everything you could wish for and more. The location is superb and unique and just a few steps out the door you are transported into the most wonderful woodland walks leading you straight to the outstanding Plodda Falls and beyond. Jenny, our host, was so welcoming and went far and above to ensure we had everything we could possibly need for our holiday. Poulary Cottage

Superb week in Poulary Cottage, warm and comfortable and the location is exceptional. Pine Marten visited each evening and the birds were a joy to watch. As good as it was, having paid top money for a two bedroom cottage, there are a numer of issues that need attention which are above and beyond the remit of Audrey who did an excellent job of making sure the property was clean and ready for our visit. Some roof tiles have become dislodged and are in danger of falling from the roof. Two decking boards drop when walked on due to the support timber being rotten. The bath panel is broken at the shower end of the bath. The hand basin taps are loose. The TV is wedged into a corner unit and lodged on a piece of timber giving partial obstruction when viewing the screen. TV instructions direct you to use Sky controller but there is no Sky box or controller. The sofa in the lounge smelt fairly strongly of dogs. Some general TLC wouldn't go amiss. I mention these issues because if the owners wish to continue letting this property it would be good if they were addressed for the benefit of future clients.

Wilderness Cottages Replied...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feedback on Poulary Cottage. Firstly we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Poulary We have contacted the owner and made him aware of the issues raised. He is disappointed to receive such feedback as he visited the property 3 weeks ago was not aware of the issues raised. He will have these attended to as soon as possible. Apologies for TV comments being confusing, there is no Sky Box/Controllers in the cottage as this has been replaced with a Smart Freesat TV. This new TV gives a far greater range of viewing options, he will update these instructions to reflect this. Pets do cause problems at times and there are instructions in place to request that pets are not allowed on furniture or in bedrooms however guests do not always follow these. The cleaner is aware of this and does open windows/doors for airing during the changeover of the house and pays particular attention to removing dog hair from carpets etc. He will discuss this with her and see what additional steps he can take to remove odour from pets.

Great location. The beach is beautiful, to sit in the sunshine on the decking under a cloudless sky and watch the Irish Sea is a rare treat and surely what we all visit this place for. However the cottage itself could do with a facelift starting with the decor. The whole place needs decorating and the dull old pictures need replacing. The bed is rather narrow too. However the cottage is well equipped. The heating works well and the fire Is an added bonus. Wi-Fi should be installed as a matter of urgency and a better tv is needed. Once again though the location is spectacular.

Beautiful countryside and nice to see the wildlife close up too. The house and its family history are sturdy and comforting, giving a feeling of rootedness in that wildly beautiful place. And whilst amply equipped as a holiday cottage (including such luxuries as a dishwasher, electric blankets and wood-burning stoves!), it is Toberaie's situation and drama that give you what you really need from a holiday in this sublime area: endlessly rewarding walks from the front door in authentically Scottish nature; awe-inspiring views that put everything back into perspective; and true, priceless tranquility. This is a very welcoming place to stay. Fizz and treats and generously offered with firewood, food essentials and more. It's well equipped for cooks and comfortable with Bluetooth portable speaker, a good quality TV and that fabulous sauna for when the weather makes staying in with a fire and books a great option. Large picture windows, deer and buzzards coming quite near. The house is really lovely, modern, well designed and easily the best place we have stayed at in Scotland (and we come annually) and the photos don't really do it full justice as it's much roomier than we expected. It feels quite isolated but really quite near to Portree for eating out and shopping. Two small points: This is a very individual thing but for us the bed was quite hard so maybe either bring a soft topper or perhaps the owners can store one away for us softies. Also the food cupboard at the far left was so full that there is now nowhere in the kitchen cupboards to put anything that you bring or buy. But they are tiny things and we were so happy to be there. Highly recommended and thank you for sharing your wonderful place in Skye.

We booked Toberaie to get away, be remote and have the winter wilderness experience - and boy did we get it! Arrived in very heavy snow and temperatures of minus 10. It is a rustic old cottage with a lot of character and history which we loved. No central heating but fire wood provided, electric heaters and the real treat for us were the electric blankets. We needed them! The views are absolutely amazing, night stars, complete silence, it was a wonderful get away for us. Kids can just go out and explore, they loved it . Kitchen had everything we needed and although small, functioned well for us. Like other reviews living room fire chews up the wood and doesn't give out too much heat (although we really did have very low temperatures) so we just shut the door to the living room and lived in the dining room - that stove works well and is fairly economical with the wood usage. We enjoyed our time there, and since being home the children keep asking to go back, so I think we will be back!

9 days home from plodda Fall Lodge, but it actually feels like we left our home 9 days ago!!! The holiday blues have well and truly kicked in. The wonderful Jenny met us on arrival with a warm welcome, roaring fire and delicious cake. Jenny and Paul have created the most enchanting cottage, which instantaneously inspires tranquillity and utter relaxation as you walk through the door. The cottage itself is well equipped, with everything you could possibly need, including a large freezer, which is a rarity in holiday lets. The custom-made "plodda falls" bed is devine. My once loved bed at home now pales in comparison. Every room is just perfect but our favourite room was the living area, with a beautiful stone feature wall and roaring fire. Many a night, we spent snuggled up with a wine, feeling content and blessed. My husband, 2 dogs (Fergus and Dougal), and I loved exploring all the stunning places Jenny suggested - her knowledge of the local and wider area was very much appreciated. Fergus is a golden retriever, so it felt extra special living on the Guisachan Estate where GR's were first bred. The enclosed gardens are stunning and were just coming back to life (we visited early feb), with snowdrops breaking through the cold winter soil. Incidentally, snowdrops represent hope, purity, inspiration, and renewal - all of which you experience while staying at plodda Falls Lodge. My husband and I enjoyed our daily adventures with our dogs, reading in the evening, chatting or playing board games, and just generally enjoyed each others company. This was mainly due to the fact there is absolutely no mobile phone signal that makes you refocus your attention on your surroundings and each other. I should note there is WiFi, but I didn't use it once. Bliss! I could go on and on about how wonderful plodda is. However, It's hard to find the words to truly articulate how magical plodda Falls Lodge is. My advice would be to book now and experience this little slice of heaven for yourself. It's so amazing we've booked to go back in Nov. Can't wait!!
