Fantastic location, peaceful and relaxing with superb quiet beach literally on your doorstep. Cottage is spacious and well equipped. Decor could use a little attention but nothing that should worry anyone. The road in was fine in a Skoda Yeti 4x4. Not sure would attempt in anything with less ground clearance and in anything but ideal weather 4 wheel drive is required. Our holiday snaps https://youtu.be/U36v5tQcCVc?si=ZCN60CgodwFBhCH3 should give some idea of the location.

Coorie

Our second time staying at Coorie and it was as lovely as the first time. Being there in the winter, the excellent heating system and cosiness was just perfect. No bin liners provided and also no dishwasher tablets so remember to take your own if you're staying. The heated towel rail was broken so the tumble dryer came in handy. Overall a lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful spot.

Wilderness Cottages Replied...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and feeback on Coorie. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have contacted the owner who apologised that there were no bin liners and dish washer tablets, as they are normally provided . They are aware that heated towel rail needs a new heating element which has been ordered and will be in full working order again shortly.

Seahorses

Seahorses is a stunning place within a jaw dropping location and scenery. The property was extremely comfortable and cosy and one of the best equipped places we have stayed. This includes very well equipped kitchen, loads of local guide books and maps, a huge DVD library, torches, binoculars, viewing and star gazing scopes etc. we were snowed in for nearly 5 days before the local snow plough could clear the road which was gorgeous just to sit and enjoy the scenery. Just make sure you have plenty of supplies and logs for the fire. The owner and housekeeper were really nice and helpful, and some of the locals were really nice and offered help in the snow if we needed it. We will definitely return sometime to do some local touring, which the Scottish winter stopped us doing this time.

Seal Skerry Lodge

Stunning house in a beautiful and remote part of Skye. The local walking and the incredible shop at Glendale (5 mins away) meant that we could really unwind and not drive every day. The house is warm and well built and tasteful. The weather in Skye is of course 4 seasons in a day (in January), but that is part of the romance and appeal. My only comment (and it is just that and others have also remarked) is that for 4 adults who like to cook and enjoy food there could be a bit more kitchen equipment and cutlery and crockery. But overall a well deserved 5 star review. Faultless service as always by Wilderness Cottages who are always great.

Beautiful cottage we stayed at in March 2023. It was still quite chilly at the time and the cottage does not keep warmth very long. It is fully equipped and has everything one needs. In front of the house, there is a bench from where you can look at the sea and enjoy nature and wildlife. Beautiful and remote spot to relax!

We had the amazing pleasure of spending one week at Seal Skerry Cottage on the Isle of Skye from the 18th-25th of November 2023. We cannot recommend the is cottage enough. We loved it so much that we have already booked to go again this winter, and cannot wait. We arrived after dark to the living room heater being on to welcome us, which was a lovely touch. Along with a really nice bottle of wine to enjoy infront of the log fire. All areas of the cottage wear spotlessly clean, plenty of clean towels and a very powerful shower. The local area of Glendale village is just a 10 minute drive away with a local shop, post office and cafe. The stars at night were a dream to sit and watch. The owners should be very proud of what they have achieved. They have truly created a home from home feel. See you again at the end of the year and thank you from our girls and doggies too. Christmas at Plodda Falls Lodge was a wonderful and magical experience. Its the first time booking through Wilderness Cottages and everything was straight forward and I wouldn't hesitate going to their Site first to book self catering properties. It was all a positive experience dealing with Jenny, the Owner of Plodda Lodge, who sent extra photos and phoned a few days before our holiday. I wish more owners took this approach. We drove from Portsmouth and received a wonderful reception from Jenny who was at the property to greet us. Fire lit and Christmas tree light twinkling it was as if we were arriving at friends for the holiday period. Jenny also made us a Christmas Cake. Wow! Our two Golden Retrievers loved the secure gardens and being able to head out of the the door into the wilderness. Bliss for them and us. I can't rate Jenny and her wonderful hosting skills highly enough. To finish the review off I want to mention Plodda Lodge has an amazing energy about it. I feel we are meant to keep returning to this wonderful, magical, spotlessly clean, dog friendly property. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property even though it will make it harder for us to book!

We had the most amazing time. Wilderness cottages and the owners were accommodating and extremely helpful. we have a reactive and anxious dog so having the capacity to walk off lead (when there were no other animals around of course) was just a special experience for us and obviously the dog. The beach is just wonderful and when the tide is out you can walk quite a long way. The cows didn't come down to graze once during our stay although the deer did and, we only met one other person on the beach during our weeks stay. The cottage is well equipped and warm, in fact so warm our first job was to go around and turn all the radiators down when we arrived. We thought the decor and furniture was good quality and the only thing that would have made our trip top class would be upgrading the sofa seating and mattresses as they were a little uncomfortable. The water pressure isn't great in the showers upstairs so would recommend the downstairs shower which is reasonable. we managed to get down the road in a fully loaded Honda CRV so it is higher than other cars. We did make it although you need to take it very slowly. We would definitely recommend this place.

We had a really great stay at this property. It is a large property with 4 bedrooms [2 upstairs/2 downstairs], and is very private/homely. It is in a remote setting, though still within very close reach of Fort Augustus [20 mins walk], and several great walks into this hills [great views of Loch Ness], into the forests, and along the river Oich. The large lounge on top floor [accessible from the spiral staircase] gives great views on to the forest. and the wood-burner gives a great heat. 4 double settees very comfortable. Enough starter wood / firelighters / matches were provided. Downstairs, the large kitchen is well stocked and all needed white goods are there. Leading outside is a large room for hanging jackets, dirty boots, etc [and its also part of kitchen]. We bought a large bag of sunflower hearts and spent hours watching the numerous birds from the decking [mainly finches and blue tits] coming to feed. We got some great slo-mo videos. We just loved the amount of space/room in the cabin and would definitely choose this place for a future break in Fort Augustus.

I could just say this cottage is perfect and leave it at that, but that wouldn't tell you anything about the attention to detail that has gone into making this place just right. Neither would it tell you about how comfortable Fann and Murdo have made this cottage. It would also miss out letting you know about the magnificent view, it really is amazing, from the side of the Loch to the mountains. It wouldn't tell you about how well equipped this cottage is, nor would it tell you about the exciting wildlife that visits every evening. And I mustn't forget the lovely story of the cottage's heritage. The love, thought and care that has gone into the restoration of Leachachan Cottage is clear to all. While it may not be wilderness, it is very peaceful in situation but we liked the fact you could walk into the village for amenities. The cottage itself is just fabulous. Everything was there that youd need for a home from home stay . It was super warm and cosy . Drumnadrochit is central to all places to visit, north or south . Lovely, quiet, cosy cottage in spectacular surroundings. Thoroughly enjoyed our week at North Lodge. Lovely walks around the estate, plenty of birds around the cottage. No squirrel sightings unfortunately but did see deer. Cottage was well equipped, with very comfy beds. Only issue and its being picky, with the weather turning colder, would be the draft coming in through the back door and the draft excluder provided is a couple of inches too short to stop the draft completely. Other than that, no complaints at all. Close to Stranraer for anything needed. Port Patrick is only 15 mins drive and the Mull of Galloway lighthouse is worth a visit.
