Timber House
White-Tail Croft
Near Portree a few miles down a single track road typical of Skye. Avoid the potholes and wandering sheep. Excellent accommodation. Feels remote but not that far from Portree. Owners very considerate with well equipped kitchen, staple supplies in stock and a few goodies which were accepted gratefully. Loved the views. It is really peaceful. Internally modern and comfortable with wood burner for the cooler days. Very much enjoyed our week's stay and will consider coming back, perhaps on route to one of the other Islands.
Cedar Cottage
The cottage was amazing and the location perfect, loved the wildlife and peace and quiet, can't wait to go back.
Cuaig Croft
Seascape Cottage
3rd time staying in this wonderful cottage. Seascape has everything you need for a relaxing break, with stunning views across the bay with lovely walks and great cycling direct from the door step. The cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean and the hosts are incredibly welcoming We have already booked our 4th visit
The Studio
Wonderful accommodation in a fabulous setting. Large space with lots of natural light and wildlife out of the window. Very well equipped for self catering. Thank you.
Moll Cottage
Plodda Falls Lodge
We were up at Plodda for another 2 weeks holiday.we must have been comming to the lodge for about 7 years nowand never had any complaint.we first started at a weeks holiday but as its twelve hours driving each way we now stay 2 weeks.weather was lovely with just a bit of rain.as usual plodda was clean and tidy and ready for us to decend on it with our 2 adults and dogs.we all love the garden and watching the bats come out from under the eves and at the other side of the house we watched various birds incliding finches ,sparrows,a woodpecker and siskins.the tiny little siskins are like commandoes lol attacking any bird including themselves.jennny and paulwere thier usual pleasent and kind selves.will deffo be back next year in september.its like home now and september 2023 seems such a long time away but it will come round in the end.xxx
The Granary
This was our ninth visit to the Granary and we're planning on returning next year. The Granary has every convenience we need and is centrally located for many outings. The owners are a delight...so friendly and helpful.
Timber House
The Challey at Heathcote
Callakille
Lovely cottage in an amazing location. Spotlessly clean.
Ardrannach
We had a great time at Ardrannach helped by terrific weather. The views from the cottage are truly wonderful and it's location is very convenient. It was also very comfortable. However, there were a number of issues with the cottage which were very disappointing (though none of these spoiled our stay) 1. We were unable to get the fan heater in the bathroom to work. 2. We used the washing machine once but it would not spin dry, even when we specifically put it in the spin cycle. 3. The handle and catch on the back door is loose and very hit and miss and I managed to shut myself out a couple of times without locking the door! 4. The fridge only has one shelf and only one pocket in the door. (Broken parts were in the pantry cupboard). This meant we could only store a very small amount of food in there, which meant we had to shop every day as a result. 5. The three drawer freezer had only one drawer in it!. Again broken drawers were in the pantry. Didn't affect anything but just gave the impression that the whole place was a bit unloved and poorly maintained. I did text the owner with all the above points. No response received. The following issues were not brought to the owners attention but are issues that I think need to be fed back and addressed. 6. We found dog mess in the garden on day 1. Not sure if from a previous renter or the owner's dog itself. The grass was uncut and long which makes clearing up after your dog harder. 7.The garden is described as dog friendly but chickens from the farm have free access through holes in the fence 8. There were cobwebs inside the secondary double glazing (easy to sort) and between the fire extinguisher and door in the hallway, underlining the uncared for perception. Generally we found the cottage rather "tired'. Have rated average simply because the views are spectacular. Otherwise below average I would say.
Poulary Cottage
Most things were excellent about Poulary cottage but, although not vital, the tv system was a little slow and dated and let the experience down. The double bed was a little uncomfortable as the 'upper mattress' had a tendency to move. Fantastic views down the glen, it provided a great base for approaching the hills and we hope to return.
Cnoc Ard
This was a 5 star holiday home excellent in every way spotless and very well maintained thanks.
Ardbeg
We enjoyed an incredible week at Ardbeg. The views are to die for, the accommodation spacious and comfortable. So peaceful. Booking arrangements very smooth, thank you Wilderness Cottages team. We feel very lucky to have stayed at Ardbeg and hope to return.
The Studio
My sister and I came up for a wild swim tour of Skye and stayed at the Studio. The weather was wonderful and the location was perfect for venturing out. We were so impressed with the view, the gurgling burn right below us and how quiet and peaceful the place was. We were also really impressed with how well stocked the place was! It really had everything we needed (from dish clothes, oil, salt/pepper, dish/laundry soap to books and a yoga mat!). It's well laid out and very nicely decorated. There is even a local fish and chips food truck at the end of the road (very pleasant surprise after a long day of walking and swimming). We would happily rebook for another visit.
Plodda Falls Lodge
I have been visiting Tomich since 2017, however this was the first time we have stayed at the Plodda Falls Cottage. Having passed it many times we decided that we would try and stay at the Plodda Falls Cottage the week after our wedding. We were married in the Tomich Hotel on 19th June and although this was our date for entry into the Cottage, Jenny, the owner, was happy to arrange key collection for the Sunday 20th June. The Cottage is just fabulous. As I said we chose this Cottage for our honeymoon due to the size and location. My children (and their plus 1 for the wedding) stayed with us and the Cottage was easily able to accommodate us all and the 'children' even had their own sitting room along with a bathroom they could use too. Jenny arranged a nice welcome package for us along with a delicious cake. We felt very at home and loved the log stove that kept the room (that Andrew and I sat in) lovely and warm. We used the Cottage as a base to explore but felt equally happy to sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine. Lovely, peaceful and beautiful place to stay and the surroundings with walks locally just made the perfect location for us and our family, including our dogs, Kye and Bella, to holiday. We would highly recommend the Plodda Falls Cottage and look forward to staying there again in the future.
Leachachan Barn
It's a rare thing finding a cottage that ticks all of the boxes - kid and dog friendly, accessible but peaceful location, mesmerising view, open plan layout with a huge boot/drying area, warm and beautifully furnished. At Leachachan we found our ultimate Highland holiday home.
Beach Lodge
What a magical place the silence is Golden the air so fresh stars shine so bright and the wildlife are friendly. We had a weeks heat wave to boot how Lucky were we ???? we cannot wait to return to recharge our batteries again. Lucy & Rihanna our rescue staffies were worn out running on the beach day and night for them it was heaven ????. A fabulous time was had by all Thank you. Dawn,Steve & hounds (Cheshire)
Plodda Falls Lodge
Another very enjoyable week at the Lodge! Even more so than previous ones if that's possible! Great walks and beautiful scenery, helped by very good weather. It's our dogs' favourite place and, of course, if they're satisfied so are we! As ever, it was lovely to see Jenny again, to catch up on news, seek advice on new places to explore and to consume (unfortunately much too quickly) one of her famous cakes!-
Pier Head
What an amazing place! The house, the location, it's remote yes, but strikes a brilliant balance of being close to the village shops, restaurant, cafe and the rugged beauty of the north west Scotland. Local walks and hikes to the mountains are spectacular. The house is spacious for 6 people, big open plan kitchen/dinning area, all the utensils and kitchen accessories you will need. It's clean, comfortable, with amazing sunset views. I want to come back with my family there. A superb place to recharge your batteries.
Kincardine Cottage
Thank you so much for another wonderful week in Kincardine cottage. We all love this place: the cosiness and homeliness of the cottage and the wildlife and space outside. We hope to be back soon!
Eilean Mor Cottage
We had such a lovely time in this beautiful, cosy, well equipped cottage. The views from every window were breathtaking, and we loved seeing all the bird life in the garden. The kids enjoyed the space outside too. We hope to be back.
Sixgeary
Hard to put in to words just how good Sixgeary is, as for us, it is pretty much perfect. The cottage itself is fitted out just right, great kitchen with all mod cons, comfy beds, great bathroom and cosy sitting room with log burner. Combine all of this with a location that is off the scale and you start to get close to how good Sixgeary is. Yeah, it's a bit of a hike to get to the cottage, but the peace, tranquility, the views and the sun rises are astounding! Looking to unwind? You've found the right place.

Poulary Cottage
Our 23rd stay at Poulary Cottage. We've being coming here since 2008, we fell in love with it the first time we came. The cottage has everything you need, always spotlessly clean. The views from the dining room table are stunning, you can either just sit and relax looking at the mountains, watching the deer, buzzards overhead or the very busy bird table. Pine martens are regular visitors at night to the bird table and also badgers. The cottage is central in the Highlands for visiting many places or you can just stay in the Glen, there are lots of walks or mountains to climb without leaving the Glen . A delightful full cottage, home from home. We'll be back soon! Love it.
Ardbeg
The house in Gairloch was superb in every way. We have been travelling to scotland for the past 40 yearrs and mostly stayed in cottages. We have had some beautiful and comfortable places but Ardbeg out did them all. The view and the comfortable furnishing and beds. We had a most relaxing holiday. Most of the places we stayed in had a little store cupboard such as salt or perhaps a bottle of milk to welcome us but that was such a minor point. The only other properties that was of the same standard were properties owned by Anne Sutherland in Isle of Skye and Inverness. Thank you for lovely views and comfortable house.
Cala
A really fabulous property - comfortable, stylish, well appointed and warm - with fantastic views, it was a joy to wake up each morning and see the changing moods of Quinag! A lovely place in a really special part of the world.
The Stables
Loved The Stables. Well appointed, warm and comfortable. A very relaxing environment. Highly recommend
The Studio
Fantastic modern house. Very well equipped with beautiful views. Hope to return again in future.
Shore Cottage
This location is quite unique and is just about on the beach on the west coast of Scotland between Stranraer and Portpatrick. In fact we never saw anyone else on the beach all week. The beach itself is mainly sand but there are some sections of rock which you need to be aware of before you venture into the sea. Shore Cottage was comfortable, cosy and clean. The furniture is in good order and the conservatory is quite spacious. It is well equipped and clean through out. This location is ideal for those who want to get away from it all, you are certainly that. My only criticism would be that the double bed was not wide enough for us and the cottage would benefit greatly from a Wifi connection.
Earth House
This is all about location, location, location. Its quite stunning with a deserted shore at your doorstep and a wonderful view over to An Teallach and Coigach. The house itself is quirky with a great view from the lounge. Once we got used to the heaters and the hot water boost it was fine. Its not the most homely place in terms of furnishings. Drying facilities are limited to a line outside and a tumble drier. The owner is very accommodating and helpful.
Ceol na Mara
Our 3rd stay at the Cottage, that sums up how amazing and special we find it, lovely cottage and beautiful area.
Drumfad Barn
Loch Ness Bay Lodge
Upper Folds
Upper Folds far exceeded our expectations.. The cottage was immaculately clean, spacious, well equipped and furnished. It was a pleasant surprise to be provided wth the whole weeks supply of everyday items such as toilet paper! The cottage sits within a large dog proof enclosed garden for those 4 legged friends that can't be trusted with sheep (the property was surrounded by them). The location feels remote although only 10 minutes drive from Dufftown, As per the description it is accessed via an un-made track and ford (It's worth noting that there is a steep loose surfaced descent/ ascent either side of the ford which may prove a challenge in a fully laden 2 wheel drive!) . We had heavy snow on 4 of the 7 days stay, which we and the dog loved, but without a 4x4 we would certainly have been stuck! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Upper Folds and recommend to others! We will definitely be returning to the cottage and look forward to more of the excellent 'Eight Lands' Speyside Gin! Thank you!
Taigh Druim
Seahorses
Fantastic Holiday home with wonderful views.
Swallow Byre
Another fantastic week at Swallow Byre.
Seascape Cottage
Most fantastic cottage, homely, well furnished and equipped. Amazing welcome pack. Open the curtains in the morning and see deer munching grass, brown hares hopping by, birds of prey circling above or stroll 2 mins to the bay and see seals. Idyllic! Thank you for a wonderful week
Charleston
Really enjoyed our first stay in this lovely cottage. Very warm and comfortable with plenty of space. Amazing views and walks from the doorstep.
Learag
What a wonderful week we had. Learag is stunning and so comfortable. We had snow which was a little surprising in April but the house was cosy all week. It's really well located for virtually everything in this area - 15 minutes to Inverness, 2 minutes to the A9 bridge over the Cromarty Firth. Highly recommended.
Poulary Cottage
Very relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. The views from the cottage are phenomenal and we enjoyed walks, runs and kayaking and fantastic wildlife spots. Audrey had the place spotless, warm and cosy for our arrival. We took a tip from another review and took an inexpensive battery motion sensor light with us which worked well to illuminate pine marten visits without disturbing them - there are outside lights at the property entrances for coming and going, but none that shine on the bird table and decking. Really well equipped cottage and between the excellent heating and stove we were warm and cosy despite some very cold weather including snow. Full size freezer was great allowing us to take most of our food for the week and shower over bath is a decent electric model not just attached to the taps. Really nice decor with some lovely vintage furniture that added to the homely feel. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Beach Lodge
This was our third visit to this cottage. The location and surroundings are superb and couldn't recommend highly enough. The one thing that could be done to make the holiday even better is the interior of the cottage. Whilst it is sufficient it could do with a little updating and decorating. The sofas as mentioned in someone else's review are a little tired and uncomfortable which makes it difficult to relax at the end of the day. The booking process is very efficient and the staff are more than helpful which is a delight.
Littlepark Cottage
Ardbeg
Ardbeg is a superb house situated in a small Highland village. The view from the lounge and balcony is panoramic with views across Loch Gairloch. All the rooms are finished to a high specification.
Tigh-na-Craobh (The Tree House)
Despite the April weather we had a lovely, cosy time at the house. It was very well equipped and had a few essentials to get you started off (loo rolls, dishwasher tabs, logs etc), as well as a little welcome gift. Needed to use the hot water booster for 4 showers in the morning, but that was all great once we'd worked out how to use it! Beautiful area, lovely views and lots of walks nearby, with Portree easily reached for shopping and eating out.
Poulary Cottage
A beautiful cottage in one of my favourite bits of the highlands. Great walks straight from the house, fishing if you want it, loads of birds (Golden Eagle over the house) and a warm comfortable place to stay.
