Christies
The Coltsfoots
Spotless , well-equipped accommodation in a beautiful secluded setting . The hosts are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely loved the holiday
Seascape Cottage
This cottage is just an absolute gem. It's spotlessly clean, warm & cosy. But on top of all of that it's really well equipped & Sarah has thought of everything...the welcome pack being a real bonus too. The views as everyone says are stunning & having the beach so near & virtually to yourselves was a complete joy - no amount of photos will do it justice. Highly recommend Seascape Cottage - it will not disappoint. We look forward to going back.
The Studio
The Studio was warm and comfortable and well stocked. Conveniently located for exploring the north east of the island.
Cnoc Ard
A warm, welcoming, comfy home in a fabulous location. The house had everything we needed. My only slight reservation is the size of the living space for the number of beds. We were only two humans and two dogs and we filled the living space! Fine if you can be out during the day. Overall, we loved it and I hope to return.
Seahorses
An exceptional holiday cottage in an absolutely stunning location!!! Comfortable and cosy we loved the spacious open plan living area, the kitchen was probably the best equipped of any cottage we've ever stayed in, the views in every direction were stunning... Seahorses outperformed our already high expectations in every way. The incredible book selection covering everything from local wildlife to geology to stargazing and the huge array of excellent local walking guides was matchless. Could not recommend more - probably the most wonderful place we have ever stayed as a family, thank you so much to the owners for sharing your truly special house with us. Worth every penny and every second of the time spent driving the single track road in and out!!!
The Mill
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. We really enjoyed our stay finding the cottage warm and comfortable. We did find the furnishings a bit sparse - a chest of drawers in the master bedroom would have been a helpful addition to save living out of a suitcase for a week. Some board games / books / information on the area (restaurant recommendations, walks nearby etc) would have been nice to have also. We were unlucky with the weather during our stay so did go out and buy our own puzzle midweek! Overall though these were tiny niggles, and we would definitely stay again if in the area.
Matheson's Croft House
We have been before in the Matheson and like the first time our stay was very nice. If you like remote, cosyness, yet all you need in reach, choose the matheson.
Upper Folds
We had a wonderful week at Upper Folds. The cottage is really warm and comfortable and in a very peaceful location with walks straight from the door in the surrounding hills. There is a large, enclosed garden which our dog absolutely loved. The drive to the cottage was fine, it includes a small ford and the road is mostly in decent condition, our 4x4 Mazda Bongo campervan was easily up to it, we visited in early October. It was a wonderful escape from the world, no phone signal, no live TV, an amazing chance to switch off and slow down. The house is off grid and powered by solar panels, a small wind turbine and heated by a gas Rayburn which is also the hob and oven, I really enjoyed the chance to cook on it! It was interesting to see how comfortable and warm they have made the house despite being off grid and great to watch the wind turbine spinning knowing it's providing your electricity! A really lovely week, I'd definitely recommend it!
Braehead Steading
What a wonderful cottage, ideally situated with plenty to do within a few miles. Braehead Steading was spotlessly clean and fully equipped for our week away, more like a home from home. We couldn't have wished for anything more, thank you.
Port Elgol Cottage
Wounderful cottage in absolutely stunning location, cozy and charming. We had a fantastic week on Skye. We slept well in the beds, bathroom and kitchen were excellent. Everything clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting next to the fire listening to wind and waves..... Thank you!
Seal Skerry Lodge
Great location overlooking an aptly named 'skerry' where seals regularly bask. Well thought out ground floor with plenty of floor to ceiling glass for great views of the loch, the Western Isles and the 1000ft hills opposite. Two good sized bedrooms with plenty of storage. Super bathroom and downstairs shower room, this lodge had all we needed for a comfortable and very enjoyable week's stay. Cleanliness was as we would have hoped. Our first holiday in 30 months due to 'covid19' we had a most relaxing stay. We are looking at planning another holiday next year that can incorporate a stay in this lodge.
Sixgeary
Sixgeary is definitely one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. It has everything that is needed to make the holiday really enjoyable and its location is amazing with stunning views, even by Skye standards! If you are looking for somewhere special to stay, Sixgeary is highly recommended.
An Airidh
Littlepark Cottage
Eilean Mor Cottage
We absolutely loved staying in this cottage. Nice and cosy for the two of us, quiet and peaceful. Views were spectacular and location was ideal for us. Very well equipped with all you could ask for and more. We would love to return in the future.
Pier Head
Wonderful property, fully equipped that would easily accommodate six guests, although there were only two of us. Really warm and comfortable with a lovely space to sit and watch the loch.we did lots of home cooking and there wasn't a utensil we lacked! The views were superb, we saw eagles, seals and many other seabirds. The village shop was extremely well stocked and the Coastal bar really welcoming. Lots of local walks too! Only thing we felt it lacked was a wardrobe, so ended up hanging clothes on the back of all the bedroom doors ????.
Beach Lodge
This is our fourth visit to Beach Lodge and the location never disappoints it is exceptional. The cottage is lovely but it is getting in need of a refurb. It is clean but the settees are getting very worn and tired and the decor could do with a lick of paint. We will still be booking again though it would be nice to sit on comfortable furniture at the end of the day.
Pityoulish Cottage
Excellent Cottage; lovely location; the outdoor hut was a lovely addition overlooking the River Spey.
Loch Cottage
Within 5 minutes of our arrival felt totally relaxed. Just sat and watched the Loch and listened to the birds. Walking the forests of the Rothiemurchus estate was a delight . Lots of mushroom hunting. Really enjoyed our week. Many thanks
Oak Cottage
This is our second stay at Oak Cottage and as before it couldn't have been better. Warm, comfortable, well equipped and in great location.
Callakille
Callakille Cottage is a gem in the Scottish Highlands. Perfect place to escape from a busy city life. Tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Clear instructions to operate appliances. The fireplace makes our stay very cosy. The view around the house is spectacular. Communication with the owner was easy and pleasant, quick response. We have enjoyed every minute of our stay in the cottage and would definitely recommend it to anybody who is looking for a quiet, peaceful and yet adventurous holidays in the Scottish Highlands.
Old Lock Keepers Cottage
Fabulous week at the Old Lock Keepers Cottage. Made the most of walking and fishing from the doorstep and enjoyed chatting with all the walkers, bikers, canoeists and sailors that were navigating the Great Glen Way
Fon Tobar
Ardbeg
Lovely accommodation. Great location, very comfortable. Clean and with good facilities. Enjoyed our two weeks stay. Would recommend to family and friends.
Earth House
Very quirky house, but warm, plenty of hot water, and well-equipped. Uninterrupted views over to Gruinard Island, with Achiltabuie and the Summer Isles behind. Owners close-by, always ready to answer any queries.
Moll Cottage
Ardrannach
The cottage is situated about 2 miles from the centre of Portree. The cottage is very spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. However, the cottage could do with some updating/modernisation. The views from living room window are spectacular. The location of the cottage is great for exploring Skye. Complimentary tea, coffee and some breakfast cereals were provided. The bath, hand and kitchen towels were all provided. We reported three issues to the owner: 1. Missing shelves in the fridge & a drawer in the freezer. 2. No clothes hook in the bathroom. 3. Light not working in one of the bedrooms. To our surprise a new fridge was delivered and installed the following day! A clothes hook was fitted in the bathroom and the light bulb was replaced in the bedroom. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would recommend to family and friends.
The Lookout
Learag
My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at Learag. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and homely, and provides an excellent base for exploring this corner of Scotland.
Station Cottage
Udrigle House
Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Udrigle House. Johanna was the perfect host and couldn't do enough to help. We arrived late and in the dark yet she had ensured lights were on and provided a torch to help us unload. House was perfect for us and our Berneses Mountain dog. Loads of walks locally and no need to travel far.
Taffs Barn
We had a fantastic week at Taff's Barn. It is a very comfortable and spacious house and we really miss the wonderful views. We loved discovering the Black Isle and the region has great walks and great eating. The number of repeat visitors' happy comments in the house book speak for themselves. Highly recommended!
Eilean Mor Cottage
A very pleasant stay in a beautiful location. Well equipped holiday home.
High Tor House
High Tor cottage was perfect in every way. Wonderful views, excellent facilities and high quality equipment in the kitchen. Everything worked perfectly. The bedroom was very comfortable dark and quiet. We loved the peace and the constantly changing light and seascape.
Seal Skerry Lodge
Lovely house in the most perfect setting. Perfect for watching wildlife, weather and sky. The kitchen is really well equipped and a pleasure to cook in.
Katie's Cottage
We stayed for a week and took our little dog. The cottage is located close to Glendale Village centre, which has the best little shop ever, with the loveliest staff. The cottage was warm and well equipped. The area around the cottage is super quiet and at night you can't hear a thing, except for the hooting of owls. The Wi-FI worked fine for us. Some people who left review said it was hit and miss but we didn't find that. My only complaint would be that the visitor book is out of date and is probably past it's best.
An Airidh
Swallow Byre
Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed in a beautiful location, perfect for exploring the north west coast of Scotland. Jean was an excellent host, amazing scones. Would definitely return sometime.
Reyflat Barn
Reyflat is the perfect spot from which to explore the Black Isle and beyond. The accomodation provides everything you could want with beautiful views and a friendly welcome. We never tire of staying here when we are in Scotland.
Littlepark Cottage
Arrivain Cottage
Arrivain is a very clean, warm and cosy cottage which has been lovingly restored by the owners, from whom we received a very warm and friendly welcome on arrival. The cottage is very well equipped and in a good location for travelling and planning days out / walking in the area. It has a secluded garden with much wildlife and a very nice stream to sit beside. We loved it and would not hesitate to book it again if we were planning to holiday in this area.
Pityoulish Cottage
We had a wonderful two week stay in Pityoulish Cottage. The views are stunning. The Sitooterie was also very special. We sat one evening watching Deer chasing each other on the other side of the river. The cottage was nicely presented and comfortable. The nearby Loch Pityoulish is quiet and perfect for paddle boarding and swimming. A great base for exploring the area. We would love to return.
Seascape Cottage
What a fantastic week we had at this lovely cottage, from the welcome basket on arrival from Sarah, to the views and walks along the gorgeous coastline. We were lucky enough to sea seals playing in the bay. We would just like to say thank you for letting us be part of your lovely community.
The Orchids
A 1st class property with views to match certainly looking forward for a return visit Wilderness cottages also should have 5 stars for their service.
Moll Cottage
Wilderness Cottages Replied...
Dear Mr Steve Pembroke-Smith, thank you for your review and feedback. As per the email we did send you, the owner did only ask us to process the compensation on the 10th September, this being the day you left. The owner had also confirmed that the problem with the bed sheets was resolved on Sunday 4th September, so we assumed everything had been sorted to your satisfaction.
Pier Head
This is the second time we have stayed at Pier head, the previous time was in September 2019, and we liked it so much we wanted to stay there again, but we weren't able to visit during 2020 or 2021 because of covid. Its in a fabulous location, right on the sea loch, with a beautifult view of Shieldaig Island, and excellent walking, rock climbing and kayaking all easily accessible.. Some of our team went swimming from the old pier in front of the house and were able to dash straight back in for hot showers. As a group with one couple and four friends, its good to have two twin bedrooms (many rentals only have double beds). We hope to return sometime!
Matheson's Croft House
Lovely, cosy cottage tucked away right at the end of the little road. You can really get away from everybody here. Rayburn boiler took a bit of getting used to but turned out to be very good. Heating easy to adjust via thermostat, had a good deal of wet weather. There is a back gate which allows access to the loch but have to navigate high grass and then slippery, seaweed covered rocks. Great base for mountain walking and cycling, with very easy access to Skye. WiFi in the cottage was a godsend, mobile phone signal was variable. We enjoyed two wonderful weeks here and would highly recommend but you do need a car. Cottage caretaker was very helpful at the start when the boiler tripped. Staff at Wilderness cottages made booking and then altering our booking very easy. Thank you!
Cedar Cottage
There may be no wi-fi, but there is the best bird bird feeder ever- even attracts red squirrels. Quiet and secluded. This cottage has a great garden and is well fitted out inside.
Kincardine Cottage
This is a lovely spacious cottage in a delightful location. Very comfortable, well equipped and with a great conservatory. Red squirrel and treecreeper in the garden. We hope to be back again.
